I just left this branch and I'm really disappointed in this particular visit and the manager currently working. I've been coming here about once a month for the last couple years to exchange cash for quarters with zero issues. I do not have a Wescom account, but have never been asked for an account number as I've always just brought cash. No one has ever hassled me. I've even told them I have an account with Orange county's credit union so it's not like I've been trying to be sneaky or something the past couple of years. I am currently 6 months (and very visibly) pregnant and I came in with my almost 4 year old holding my hand and my 15 month old on my hip. As you can imagine, it's not easy for me to just get them loaded in the car and then get them out of the car (for an errand that otherwise would be very quick and easy) and then get them loaded back in the car. I had a $50 bill and asked if I could get quarters and the teller told me yes and then I asked if five rolls of quarters would be too much and he told me no and then asked for my account number and I said I didn't have an account with their credit union, but I explained that I've never been asked and that it's never been an issue over the last couple years so he said he'd ask his manager who was sitting near the entrance. After speaking with her, he apologized and told me he wouldn't be able to help me. I was definitely disappointed and frustrated so I was about to go speak with her myself to explain that I wouldn't have come there if I wasn't helped regularly for this exact thing there and to ask if I could get quarters as a last time courtesy since I was never informed of their policy in my past visits. As I was about to address her, I noticed that the customer she was finishing up with was my very recently deceased mother's good friend and I hadn't seen her since my mom's passing so we both immediately became emotional and hugged and we began talking and crying and while talking, I asked her if there was any way she could get me quarters since she has an account. This all happened right in front of the manager. I wasn't trying to be sneaky. It was very obvious what was happening and she was in earshot to hear that we were talking about my mom who just passed away. My mom's friend had no problem helping me out and going to the teller to request quarters and I was next to her for the whole thing. At this point, there was definitely some sort of secret communication between the manager and the teller before he helped her. She gave him her account number and then he LIES to a loyal Wescom customer's face and says "I only have $20 in quarters." He could have said I'm only able to give you $20, but to say he only has $20 is a bold faced lie and it's all because his manager was on a power trip. I'm thankful to have run into my mom's friend for many reasons, but the fact that they still wouldn't just do this as a last time courtesy is ridiculous. The manager clearly has no heart and likes having power. She definitely has the authority to override policy as a one time courtesy. It was just weird, cruel, and unnecessary. The saddest part is that all of this fiasco is so I can go do my family's loads of laundry. That's the main reason people need quarters. It's not like I'm grabbing quarters to go on a shopping spree or to take some frivolous vacation??? read more

Minus -1 star! Major problem with security!! They had it at beginning of year! their phone numbers got highjacked and were used by scammers to call members to "verify charges" Many many members gave out sensitive information bc codes that were sent off their system were send on same thread as ones received from bank previously!!! When in local branch to "open a new account" due to security issues, you could hear bankers telling customers in front of us, "if this happens again... pretty much you will be in trouble and you'll no longer have these member benefits.." which is SO SO WRONG!!!! The 80 yr old gentleman in front of me felt so guilty & ashamed. I wanted to go to him & tell him this happened to me too and it's Banks fault!!!! Not ours... but let it slide... and seeing how we got treated afterwards, months in a row.. and how little effort was made to "accommodate" the pains of new account- I WANT TO VOTE THEIR quote for customers service "for the people" is 100% FALSE!!! It has changed towards Bad since new buyer & management took over. I banked w few banks in 40 years.. maybe the worst ever. Specially bc they know you.. they will raise they voice at you when in branch.. and mind you.. she can be the age of my child ... arguing something she's not even aware of the facts... this is not a branch for the the pple for sure! BEWARE!! STAY AWAY FROM WESCOM!! Want a bank that allows scammers to charge your account and then have that said bank side with the scammers? Then sign up for an account with Wescom. I've been a customer with them since 2009. Never had any issues until I had a scammer incorrectly charge my Wescom credit card while in Mexico this past April. I never signed anything nor provided a PIN number. I also had 3 witnesses to confirm what I was supposed to be charged. I immediately contacted Wescom to report this fraudulent charge and they refused to block it. There was not contact information for the scammer but somehow they claimed to have contacted the scammer to confirm the charge? Yeah, I don't think so. Wescom basically sided with the lies of a foreign scammer over their American customer of over 10 years. I've now had to file a complaint with the California Attorney General's office as well as BBB. My credit is now at risk of being hit with a collections report because Wescom refused to block and remove a fraudulent charge. I have never had any issues with my other credit card companies when I've had fraudulent charges. Even American Express and Bank of America confirmed that they would have blocked and/or reversed the charge. I've never been more disgusted with a company. Wescom HATES their customers and will refuse to help you in any way should a scammer steal money from your account. DO NOT TRUST THEM!! read more

I'm a long time Wescom customer. Over the years the customer service has gone down hill. It isn't the agents, it is their phone system and the processes the agents must follow. When you call their phone system you have to navigate a complex menu system (takes way to long to actually get into the queue of the department you need). Then you are looking at a unreasonable hold time (MINIMUM 15-20 minutes). Usually, then you get transferred to another person and wait on hold again! Luckily, I don't have to call them very much...but the frustration when i do is too much. I have been hung up on too! It's sad but I'm considering leaving Wescom due to the frustration. I called Wescom and wrote this entire review while waiting on hold. So far I have been on hold for 20 minutes. NOT acceptable. I'll I'm trying to do is correct the Apple Pay verification number they are using (it is a very old number of mine that I've asked them to correct repeatedly). read more

I love the Wescom in Pasadena CA. I've come to trust them well over the years, and with my recent car loan they did not let me down. I walked into the bank unannounced and sat with an agent right away. (They are hard to reach over the phone, and forget making an appointment online.) Two hours later I walked out with an approved loan of $15,000 after my down payment. In the past Wescom gave me a smaller loan to get my teeth fixed and totally accepted my paying it off early. They also came through when someone washed and forged a check I'd written for $200+ more than it was originally--they'd cashed it at one of those quick cash stores. Angie was wonderful to work with she understood and listened to her customers. We originally came in to get a auto for my mom and provided all financial documents to Philip. Philip seem unemotional and uninterested in dealing with us. Which got be a bit upset and irritated by him. Philip Said a credit analysis Needed more info, so I provided it. Then he asked for more docs. I worked on another auto loan before with Angie for my wife and she was great and had a good attitude. So I asked for Angie and she said she look into it. This is basically where I do all my banking because well, there aren't too many locations left. Poor Wescom. Lines inside the bank are usually nonexistent or short. The parking situation though isn't as great, especially on the weekends! Thank goodness for the creator of online banking. It saves so much time! And I just discovered (like literally a few hours ago) that I can deposit a check using the Wescom app. So I pretty much never have to go inside the bank ever again hahaha this is exciting. Only 4 stars because they don't mail out cards soon enough before they expire. It technically wasn't expired yet, but my card was denied during the MONTH of its expiration. That sucked. It was super embarrassing. Also, I wish like the departments at this bank had their members' interest in mind instead of their own. Protect me and my money, not the randoms. read more

When I initially set up my account, I was asked if I wanted overdraft protection, I declined. I was asked if I wanted money to be automatically pulled from my savings should an overdraft occur, I said absolutely. Apparently the second option was not applied to my account and I've been getting charged over draft fees. $30 a transaction!!! I went in last month for another reason, mentioned this issue with the teller and she told me she was going to fix it. Well . . . It happened again. $60 down the drain. THE MONEY WAS IN MY SAVINGS ACCOUNT!!! I'm definitely going to pull my account and do my banking elsewhere. This is ridiculous and I hate being lied to. Poor poor customer service. read more

I closed all of my accounts at Wells Fargo and came here to open and new accounts. No one acknowledged us and on top of that they didn't even try to help once it was our turn to open the accounts. I have been a Wescom member for many years, and the service has always been outstanding. However, over the last few months there have been several issues that have been unacceptable. First, i had to have my credit card reissued due fraudulent transaction. The card was requested right away but it has been over 4 weeks and the new card has not been received. When Zo contacted the branch, i was told that the credit card manufacturer was having issues with their machinery and they were backlogged. I can understand that, but my autopay items linked to the credit card were disrupted, and I had to contact companies to resolve payment. It is now going on 6 weeks, and I have not received the new credit card. I called the branch again. I was told the card was sent at the end of December. So now it's a post office issue???? This just doesn't seem possible. When i attempted to use online chat to resolve issue, online chat is not available. The Wescom rep said they were having issues since the moved to a new system. Again this is unacceptable. I hope Wescom fixes these issues as they are affecting Wescom Members. I am extremely disappointed and frustrated that Wescom has allowed this issues to continue for so long. read more

I've been a Wescom member ever since I was in elementary school and I've loved it ever since. I haven't had a reason to ever want to switch to another bank. I love Wescom's services and their super friendly and helpful staff. I've always had pleasant experiences for any type of interaction I've had, especially the La Habra branch. I just wish that there were more locations; the locations are few and far in between. If you live nearby, I highly recommend Wescom to be your premier finance institution. read more

This is the worst bank ever. They said they were going to put a hold on my account to review it and they will get back to me. I waited and waited for them to call me back with a result and they NEVER did. So I called and asked about it and they said it's still under review and they'll get back to me once they decide whether they're going to release the hold on my account or not. So I wait and wait and wait... and never hear back from them. Then I realized that the IRS sent my stimulus payment back in April to this account. When I call to ask about it, they said since my account is "CLOSED" the stimulus payment was returned to them. UGH!!! I didn't know my account was CLOSED? I was still waiting for them to get back to me which they never did. Then I had to wait a few more weeks for the stimulus payment to arrive in mail by check. Then I realized they just left me hanging thinking they'll decided on reviewing my account soon. Well, it's been more than a year and still no phone call! Then come 2021, and I decide to close the account. I also opened a credit card account to maintain a Signature Membership, which they only gave me $500 credit limit when I have 740 credit score. Other credit card companies out there gave me initial credit limit of anywhere from $6K to $7K with cash backs and other sweet benefits when all they were offering was some points that can convert into gift cards. The person on the other line told me I can't even close the account over the phone and I have to go inside the branch. REALLY??? WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC. You really suggest that I go inside the branch just to close the account? Very unprofessional and stupid bank. STAY AWAY IF YOU CAN THEY WILL JUST LEAVE YOU HANGING THINKING THEY'LL REINSTATE YOUR ACCOUNT WHEN THEY JUST WANT YOU TO BE THE ONE TO END THE BANKING RELATIONSHIP WITH THEM. It would've been nice if they were more straight forward as that's how I would like my bank to be. Not some stupid credit union that beats around the bush. read more

I thought I'd try this location for a change since I was staying nearby though I usually bank at the Culver City location. Went in on a Saturday to open IRA accounts and though the licensed financial staff member had no one at his desk and wasn't doing anything he refused to see us saying we had to have an appointment. While it was true we didn't have an appointment, he didn't have a client and was just hanging around his desk not even on the phone. I asked the office staff to try and get him to help us as we were only in town for that one day and this guy was completely unhelpful. Luckily I called the Culver City location and even though the guy there had a full schedule, he promised he would fit us in. We left the useless and unhelpful La Habra office and drove 45 mins there where we waited for Young Kim for about 30 mins. He was excellent and was very accommodating and courteous. He was obviously busy but he politely made the time and gave us amazing service. I'm surprised that there's such a huge difference between the two offices as I've never had anything but great service at all the westside (former) locations since they've mostly closed. I've been with Wescom for 10+ years and never had anything bad to say until this incident. While I don't expect Wescom to fulfill any request, I thought they'd at least make more of an effort than your typical thieving banking institution (that's right BofA, I'm talking about you). Obviously, the financial adviser at the La Habra branch and the staff there aren't very motivated to achieve anymore than being mediocre. If it wasn't for Culver City and Young Kim, I'd probably would have closed all my accounts. read more

Needed an auto loan and walked in after checking out their website. I was helped by a gentleman named Philip Rubia and he was a breath of fresh air. Very polite, to the point, and professional. He also worked very diligently and quickly to offer me a comprehensive plan that worked for my needs to become a member. Membership offers lower rates and lots of additional perks and services other banks and credit unions do not offer. Needless to say, I walked out as a new Wescom member and am very happy and confident that anytime I need anything that Philip will be there to take care of me and my future needs. I freakin love Wescom. I hear about other people having issues with their banks and I swear it is a foreign concept to me. A friend of mine told me she was on the phone with Wells Fargo again this week because of another issue with her account. I was confused. Another issue? Again?? Then she told me she switched to Wells Fargo because of all the issues with BofA. Is your account being screwed up by a bank a common issue for people? That baffles me. I have never had a single issue with Wescom. The branch in La Habra is the only one I have ever visited and I have received prompt, good, and friendly service every time. I have multiple accounts, a credit card and am working on my second auto loan through them. They are so nice to work with and make everything so easy I don't think I would ever want to finance anything through anyone else. read more

This morning listening to Kiis FM's commercial, they announced that Wescom credit union participated in a random act of kindness. I do not believe this institution deserves such recognition. About 9 years ago, my family was going through financial hardship. My daughter was about 9 months and my son 2 yrs old. I had to file Bankrupt which included Wescom. This was a tough decision but we had to in order to survive and keep my children healthy. Last year I went to one of their branches close to my home and tried to open a savings account, just for my 2 children. I was not applying for a loan. They denied my application for a savings account for them due to the unfortunate decision mentioned above. I understand somewhat, I feel ashamed that I had to file bankruptcy but I do not feel that I should've been denied a savings account for my children. I believe in second chances. I am a good person and believe that Wescom does not deserve to be praised on air that they are Kind or good people. read more
