I spoke with a credit union representative on a recorded call about refinancing my newly purchased…read morevehicle. During our lengthy conversation, I specifically asked what criteria I needed to meet to qualify for the advertised rate. At no point was I told that direct deposit was required to receive the lowest rate. This is particularly concerning because I asked about the requirements before authorizing them to run my credit, knowing it would result in a hard inquiry. Had the direct-deposit requirement been disclosed, I would not have proceeded with the application or authorized the credit check. I also clearly told the representative that I am self-employed, which would have been an obvious opportunity to explain any direct-deposit requirement. When I later received a call informing me that I had been approved, the employee initially gave me information for a different loan than the one I had applied for. Several details were incorrect, including the loan type and interest rate. It was during that conversation that I was told, for the first time, that direct deposit was required to qualify for the lowest advertised rate. I explained that this requirement had never been disclosed to me and asked to speak with a manager. I was told a manager would call me on a specific day, but no one did. I ultimately had to call twice myself before reaching supervisor Melanie Martinez. Melanie reviewed the recorded phone conversation and confirmed that I was correct: the direct-deposit requirement had not been disclosed to me. She said she would submit the matter to underwriting with an explanation and determine whether they would honor the lowest rate given the circumstances. She told me she would follow up with me on Tuesday or Wednesday. ----- I never received that call. Since then, I have called the supervisor, Melanie, three times and have not received a response. I am extremely frustrated with how this has been handled. The credit union ran a hard inquiry on my credit after I specifically asked for the qualification requirements and was not given complete information. I relied on what their representative told me when deciding whether to proceed. Had I been properly informed, I would not have authorized the credit inquiry. Now, if I choose to refinance through another institution, I may have to undergo another hard inquiry, despite having excellent credit. What makes this even more frustrating is that a supervisor reviewed the recorded call and acknowledged that the requirement was not disclosed, yet I still cannot get a promised follow-up or even a return phone call. This experience has demonstrated an unacceptable lack of communication, follow-through, and accountability. When a financial institution is handling customers' credit and sensitive personal information, I expect a much higher level of care and professionalism. Based on my experience, I cannot and will never recommend this credit union.

I have been a member of LA Financial Credit Union for 36 years and have always recieved excellent…read moreservice. I have not had to do many in-person transactions due to ATMs and online banking, so when it was time to purchase my daughter's car, I had to go into the branch to navigate something I have not done in many years. The two tellers were busy with customers, so Robert came up to me and said that he could assist me in his office. I assumed he was another teller due to his humble and helpful manner. I explained that I needed to deposit a large check, and he assisted me in getting e-mail verification and phone authorization so that I did not have to come back. I mentioned that we would be purchasing a car for my daughter, and he immediately let me know that he could assist me with financing approval in just a few minutes. My daughter had also lost her Debit card and needed her account changed since she was now 18 years old. Robert assisted me with reporting her card lost, ensuring it was disabled, and getting everything corrected on her account. I walked out of the bank having done more than I thought I could do in that one visit and thinking my experience was complete. However, the next day, which was a weekend, when the car dealership did not have what they needed to complete our transaction, Robert made himself available to provide me with everything I needed to correct the situation!! We now have a great car for my daughter due to Robert going above and beyond for his customer! I did not find out that Robert was the bank manager until I called to find out who I can provide wonderful feedback to about this employee. Robert treated me and my daughter, who wasn't even there, as if we were his own family! LA Financial staff and managers, like Angela and Becky, have always treated me in this manner from the first time I entered in 1987, and 36 years later, there are still people there like Robert. In spite of Robert's title and heavy workload, he took the time to help me just because I was waiting in line too long. I thank LA Financial for hiring amazing people like Robert, who will continue to go far in his career due to his impeccable customer service and the way he carries out a mission and vision that make a true difference in people's lives. THANK YOU, ROBERT, FOR MAKING A DIFFERENCE!!

I was shocked to hear such language used when conducting business. Parents need to do a better job raising their children to be better members of society. All the staff is very helpful and go above and beyond to help their members. As well as maintain a safe space. Good job so cal credit union staff. I hope that member sees this review

I was depositing money in my shared branch Farmers insurance group checking account. I was greeted today by a young lady teller today that had RBF. I guess she assumed I wasn't a member or randomly decided to give me attitude. She then asked me for my identification and account number. Generally I give my member number because I don't know my account number by heart! The teller immediately gave me back my ID and told me she couldn't help me. I said I've never had to give my account number. Then the other teller chimed in and they were arguing their case. After wasting 2 minutes of back and forth they said account number or member number. Had we started with that we could have avoided all the uncomfortable back and forth. My voice got louder and the manager came out to see if things were okay, and things deescalated but I did say to the teller, "what ever happened to the customer is always right" I made sure the manager could hear me. Does anyone provide customer service training anymore or teach young people how to problem solve or triage a situation? I have always had great customer service and good experiences at Credit Union of So Cal! It just takes one employee to change their reputation! Take note!
