I stumbled upon We're Sew Creative when a friend from out of town needed to get her machine fixed. This shop is definitely a hidden gem. One of the ladies in the shop named Melissa was the sweetest little lady ever, she was so attentive and helpful. she showed me around the shop and told me all about the online and on-site sewing classes they offer. Melissa and a gentleman named Pete showed me these huge quilt making machines that makes 10 foot,12 foot and 14 foot quilts on an automated machine (so much for grandma doing it be hand). I always love to visit a local quilt shop when I'm on vacation and this was a great find! They have a large selection of modern fabrics by all the designers that I like and a nice assortment of patterns and samples on display. They also sell Bernina machines. The staff was very friendly and helped me find what I was looking for. I'll definitely be back the next time I am in the area. Hint: bring your own reusable shopping bag. I love this place! Everyone here is so kind and wonderful. I go here at least 2 times a month to get fabric for my projects. The ladies are always helpful if I need help or ideas. The prices are great especially the sale room. They typically have promotions every week. Especially Fat Quarter Fridays where you buy four fat quarters and get one free. Also if you spend over $100, you get a coupon for your next visit within 2 weeks. I also took a quilt to get long arm quilting on and I got a discount on the batting if I allowed them to take a picture of my quilt and put it on Facebook. read more

Service: I was helped by Pete. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and took time to educate why these machines are head and shoulders above anything else. Product: Expect the highest quality product as they represent Bernini and Babylock. These are two of the oldest and most trusted brands. They come with everything you can imagine and a lot you've never thought of. With touch pad screens, automated features for what was once tedious (threading the needle or even cutting the thread) tons of extra adaptable components that plug into the machine like your laptop, mouse and stylus pen. You can watch tutorials right on the machine and then use the magnifying camera to assure accuracy. Extra Services: If your a coach, manager or entrepreneur and looking to have uniforms or business logos embroidered, Amy had years of experience and can help you with high quality stitching on one of their in-house machines. This is a great store for those who love fabric and being creative with textiles. People expecting to shop the examples, you have missed the point completely. This store gives instruction and shows you the possibilities of what you can create! Take a class and dream a little. The owners are warm and friendly and know the craft well. Those wanting alterations need to go somewhere that advertises alterations. Just because someone might sew, does not mean we want to alter everyone's clothing or hem pants. Especially when the people wanting the service don't want to pay for what it is really worth. So if you love to be surrounded by creative and lovely textiles, shop this store. I went into this store while I was waiting for an appointment close by. I saw something that caught my eye and wanted to buy it for a Christmas gift. It was a handmade cross-body bag with a beautiful whimsy pattern. I was told that I could not buy it because it was a display, unless the person who made it agreed to purchase it. However, there was no further effort made despite my pleads. I was asked if the lady beside me was my mother because maybe she could stitch it for me since I didn't know how. I didn't know this lady beside me, we just happened to have a conversation as I was waiting to be helped. She also told me I could join a sewing class offered every few weeks on Saturdays, but I explained I wanted to purchase this item for Christmas. This is the kicker. The person "helping" me proceeded to tell me I could just go to Vera Bradley for a cross body bag if that's what I wanted. The lady beside me, mind you who I didn't know, actually stood up for me at this time. Before I could get my words out she told this lady I wanted a handmade bag and the pattern was nothing like what Vera Bradley offers. I told them not to worry, that I was glad I hadn't had any expectations for this store--otherwise I would have been highly disappointed. I then left, and I won't be back. read more

I am extremely disappointed in the Kimberbell Bench Buddy Kits I ordered. The "kits" included only fabric, no embellishments, and not all of the fabric is Kimberbell. I have had to search a lot to find the needed embellishments and, consequently, spent much getting what I need. Other shops sell the kits with embellishments. This was not my first order here, but will definitely be my last! Very disappointing! read more

'We're so rude and expensive'. Worst customer service in Charlotte/Very overpriced items. This business employees some of the rudest people in retail. The level of rudeness is unheard of in modern day society. For example, I went in one day and saw some fabric I liked and thought it would be great for a non-profit organization I work with. I wanted to buy about 50 yards and asked a staff member if they would could offer any discounts for the large amount and the fact it was for a local chapter of a national non-profit. Two staff members politely replied, "Oh, just call the owner and talk to him." Sounded easy enough. I did just that. Called over 5 times and the owner was never there or always helping another customer. I left my name and number and the owner never called me back. Eventually, a woman named Carol rudely answered the phone saying, "What do you WANT?!" I explained that I had been to the store and two staff members told me to call the owner and ask my question. She said, "Well, he obviously doesn't want to talk to you!" and she hung up the phone. Thinking she simply mistook me for a telemarketer, I called back only to be immediately hung up on. Then waited and called back finally getting to explain I was a customer who was told by staff to call and speak with the owner. Instead of an apology, I was told, "Don't ever call back here again!" Furthermore, I can promise any perspective customers of this business that everything they sell can be purchased much cheaper at the many online fabric stores who have great pictures of their products and an incredible variety of designs, patterns, themes, textures, etc. Sewing machines themselves are 25-50% cheaper (which makes a huge difference when you're looking at a +$1,000 machine). Scissors, fabric cutters, needles, and all other 'hardware' can also be found at huge savings. I was trying to support a local business, but with the treatment I've described above, plus with getting over charged, there's simply better options out there (online and locally). "We're sew creative" is actually "We're so rude and expensive." read more

I went today with my mom to get some supplies to make masks. The employee at the counter was not wearing mask, so we didn't feel safe buying anything. Afterwards, my mom called the store and expressed her concerns. The person on the phone was passive-aggressive and made comments about us having "different opinions." We are happy to support local businesses, but will be buying fabric online from now on! read more

I've received nothing but great service from the store when I've been able to get there. The 1 star reviews I read seemed to be from people who don't seem to be able to look around, see bolts of fabric, patterns and machines, put 2 and 2 together and realize that this is a shop that teaches, sells great fabric and machines. If you sew, or want to learn, it's a great shop to learn----how to make your own handmade gifts instead of buying them. They've always been so helpful to me and I'm not a real frequent customer due to distance. I'd love it if I was closer! read more

This is one of my favorite quilt shops. When I was living closer to Concord, I got to the point where I wasn't even letting them give me a bag when I went in, because those little pink bags add up, and I didn't want any evidence that I had bought fabric there *again.* If I lived closer, I'd still be in there all the time. The service is always phenomenal, and their selection is fantastic. I just wish it weren't so far from me! read more
