Wendy's is a microcosm of what the fast-food industry has become, more specifically on the Monterey Peninsula. You place an order and its almost as if the person you're talking to is having a mild aneurysm. The people behind the counter are devoid of any ability to simply listen. Here's my typical experience at Wendy's: Counter Person: Can I help you? Me: I'll have a Grilled Chicken Sandwich combo with a Caesar Side Salad instead of fries with a bottled water to drink. Counter Person: What size fries do you want? Me: I didn't ask for fries, I want a side salad. Counter Person: Oh okay. Do you want Crispy Chicken or Grilled? Me: (Gritting my teeth) I asked for GRILLED CHICKEN! Counter Person: Okay. That's (insert random total here). Is it just me or did some people miss the basic fundamentals of listening to someone speak? It's not all that serious, it's just more irritating than anything when you have the world's least productive people all in one establishment. It's like they're programmed like robots to arbitrarily ask you questions regardless of what you've said to them. Not really feeling like picking up a full meal, we stopped by Wendy's for a quick bite--yes, I'll come clean, Wendy's spicy chicken nuggets and chocolate frosty are a guilty pleasure of mine. Rather than going inside, we opted for the drive-thru. The food was great, just as I'd remembered it, but I can't say I was such a fan of the service at the drive-thru. The cashier was rather abrupt with us when we were trying to sort out how much cash to give her. Sure, I bet she's had to deal with lots of rude customers wanting food to grab and go, but that's no reason to harp on us as we hand over too much cash. I mean come on, my math skills aren't so hot late at night, cut me a little bit of slack. Will the rude service keep me from going back? Went to Wendy's drive through for dinner. First complaint is that the order kiosk was sitting directly in front of the menu. So, # 1 we didn't have the chance to look at it before putting in our order. And #2 we couldn't even see it. My husband had to stretch his head and upper body to even see it. The guy who was taking orders was difficult to understand. When we told him that we needed a few more minutes he put someone else on the mic, then came back on when we were ready I ordered the Daves single, as it's been awhile since I've tasted their food. It was ok. Nothing special. My husband ordered the Baconator. Was unlike what the photo showed. There was very little bacon, he could hardly even taste it. They need to be more honest about the photos they show on their menus. The fries were soggy and limp. Didn't taste very good. I had just three of them out of the box. Finally, the frosties have changed from something you needed to eat with a spoon to something you drink with a straw. Disappointingly, it is no longer ice cream. read more

One of the worst drive through I've been to. It took 15 minutes to just get an order on the drive through. It probably would have been longer hadn't the people infront of my car given up and drove off. Least service-friendly worker on the drive through, not a word other than "$9.59". No "thank you" no nothing. She handed me the paper bag of food and immediately closed the drive through window. I had to wait for her to open it up 45 seconds later and remind her that she forgot the sauce for my nuggets and rolled her eyes like I was inconveniencing her. I wish I could give them 0 stars. I ordered a "Chili Cheese Baked Potato", when I got home it turned out to have no Chili, but rather Bacon. I do NOT like bacon on a potato ! This Wendy's is exactly what you would expect it to be. Never been inside, but i get the drive thru when getting home late from work occasionally. The only downside are the homeless people that hang out at the 7-11 across the street. They've spooked me a couple times now when I'm ordering and ask for a dollar to spare. I totally understand why their average reviews are only 2.5 stars overall. We spend most of the year in the area, but haven't returned since our last visit in late December, 2016. We had purchased a Frosty keychain that allows you to receive a free small Frosty with your purchase and even though the chain sells the 2017 keychain beginning in late 2016, every Wendy's we have ever visited will also begin to honor them in late 2016. To our amazement, this store wasn't willing to honor the keychain a few days prior to the new year. LOL! I'm glad they saved a few cents and behaved like a Scrooge and the exact opposite of standard procedure with the chain in general. If you don't feel like cooking and want fast food Wendy's is one of the fast food places in seaside to go to. There service is good inside and the food is fast food so you get what you pay for. There pretty fast in the drive through never had to wait to long. I usually always get a spicy chicken sandwich when I come here. They also have a good strawberry lemonade here. There frostys are good if your in the mood for one or some ice cream. The dining area is very clean and not to loud. They have plenty of seating also. They have big windows to see the street outside so it's kind of nice. They also have plenty of parking. I don't really care for the burgers much but it's fast food so I can't complain they are there when I need food or when I'm super hungry. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. We ordered a Spicy Chicken Wrap, Jr. Cheeseburger, and medium fries. We asked that they add onions to both the wrap and the burger. When we got our order each had a pathetic sliver on an onion...probably one tiny ring cut in half and placed on each. Anyhow, that was easily corrected by asking for more onions on the side. I take a bite of my wrap and realized that they gave me regular chicken instead of spicy. I had my boyfriend take a bite and he confirmed it. When I went to get my order corrected the gentleman behind the counter thumbed through my wrap with his bare hands, suggests to me that it IS in fact the spicy chicken, and pushes it back toward me. On what planet is that acceptable customer service? Was I supposed to eat that after he had his bare fingers rummaging all through it? I told him that regardless I would need a new wrap because of what he did and he said that I'd eaten most of it and basically insinuated that I was just trying to get free food. When he finally gave in and agreed to give me a new one he violently threw the other one in the trash, stormed off into the kitchen, and began cursing me in Spanish. Between him and the other employees I was cursed in both English and Spanish to the effect of: puta, pendeja, bitch, cunt, etc. when I was clearly within earshot. I got my corrected order and informed them that I was going to write one hell of a review about this place and their crappy service. The funny thing is that a few of the other customers were agreeing with me. I've been here before and basically get the same rude, incompetent service everytime. Their service is just consistently terrible, but we put up with it because it's the only Wendy's in the area. However, being cursed at, ridiculed, and disrespected like that is the last straw for me. Anyhow, the point is don't eat here or if you do prepare to be highly disappointed and irate by the time you leave. I noticed the drive thru was busy but I was pleased that it moved along nicely. When I placed the order for a double cheeses and fries I decided to get the combo. I asked if I could substitute the drink with a frosty. The employee asked if I wanted a small, medium or large. If properly trained he should of just asked if it would be a large. I had a hard time understanding him because the speaker or microphone wasn't operating properly. When I arrived at the window the employee was very friendly. I was surprised when I asked him after I handed a $20 bill if I could add two cents. Most often that really screws up cashiers that are young. He said yes and promptly gave me back the correct change. I wasn't sure if he had calculate the change or if he just hadn't enter the amount to tender. Fries were nicely salted. Generally, I like Wendy's. My wife loves their potatoes and usually they have relatively good, cheap food; but this place service is kind of bad. My son wanted an iced tea for his drink in the kid's meal. Despite what their website says, they will not give iced tea for the kid's meal because it apparently costs more than other drinks. I believe this is the only fast food place in the area where they charge extra for iced tea. After paying the extra 2 dollars for iced tea, I got home and what do you know, there is no iced tea. Also, no straws or napkins. They are not very friendly at the window. I now pass on this place, even when my wife craves their baked potato.
