Apparently the redhead cashier went on lunch break and that was the reason for having a million people locked in the door entryway. Once they returned, she unlocked the door and didn't even have the courtesy to open the door for everyone waiting, she just walked away. I remember when this location was remodeled, maybe around 2017. The crew there, its service and the upkeep of the restaurant were amazing. It slowly went downhill in all departments. On my last visit there, it was, as usual, very dirty. The glass on the entrance doors was disgusting with fingerprints and grease. The floor? You could skate on the film of grease. The men's room was of course filthy, as it always is. There was almost no handsoap in the dispenser. And, an employee exited from the stall, with mobile phone in hand, and promptly exited the rest room. What's wrong with this picture? HINT: *hand washing as a bare minimum!?!* The wait for the food was a bit long. There was a crew of like 10 people back there, including the manager. I had worked fast food through my youth. I understand how insane it can be. But this store is just not run well. You have to WANT to keep it moving, and that includes hustle and focus, not 4 people hovering over the prep counter, in each other's faces. Finally, Wendy's has some strengths on its menu, but a lot of weaknesses. It's food that is not that good, frankly. Their Frosty is...well, what IS that, besides an icky ice cream of sorts? There are other locations that are much better, but considering now the cost and overall value, and that this location is by far the closest to me, I'm pretty much done with Wendy's. read more

This is the Wendy's location closest to the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, and as such we typically drive over when a 4 for $4 meal is in the cards. Given its location it is typically busy, with traffic spilling into Baum Blvd during especially busy hours and complicating traffic. When we go the food is OK, not above or below what you would expect for fast food. Service is also good too. However, we have run into issues with getting food in the first place, given current staffing issues and the drive thru and/or lobby being closed at random times (understandable given current times). We stopped by at 7:30pm yesterday and restaurant effectively looked closed, so we went elsewhere for dinner. Like I said, good enough location but we've had enough issues getting food, I would be aware of the possibility that you may have to go to another restaurant for your food. read more

I pre-ordered some nuggets through the official Wendy's app at 930pm. The official app said to 'come in the store' to pick up, since curbside pickup wasn't available after 5pm. Fine. I get the notification that my food is ready. I try to open the door, but it's locked. There's a note taped to the door to 'call (412) 687-3670, and we will bring your food out to you'. I called the number unsuccessfully 10+ times (it just rang busy). At this point, a team member pops out of a different door and just yells 'dining room has been closed since 7pm'. This directly contradicts what the official Wendy's app said. But it's covid, so I just trekked back to my car to wait in the 30 MINUTE LINE. After FINALLY getting to the speaker, the woman said 'I'll be with you, please wait'. I waited in silence for 5 minutes. After being thoroughly ignored, I decided to just pull up to the window, since I had already ordered/paid for my order. I reached the pick up window, and said I have a mobile pick up order under 'my name'. The first worker was completely befuddled by this, and brought in another woman to help. I again stated that I had a mobile order, under my name, and just need to pick up. She said 'oh, you have to check in at the speaker'. I stated that I had been completely ignored at the speaker, and just drove forward, since I HAD ALREADY PLACED MY ORDER. She said 'oh, it's policy, you HAVE to check in at the speaker. I'm sorry, it's policy'. She then said 'You'll have to get BACK in line, it's policy, you must check in at the speaker'. I ended up NUGLESS, due to the gross incompetence and complete lack of any signage indicating what anyone is supposed to do. And, I'm out $10. 0/5, do not recommend. read more

This Wendy's is clean, and the food is your average Wendy's food. However, the line can be absolutely insane, even when it's not peak lunch or dinner hours. Also, note that the parking lot is kind of weird. If you enter the parking lot from Centre avenue, you can't get in the drive thru line -- you have to exit the parking lot on the other side, cross traffic to hop in the turning lane lane, and turn immediately back into the parking lot. If it sounds convoluted and kind of annoying, it's because it is. That being said, they do have the fancy soda machines that let you choose from every variety of soda + flavor combinations under the sun. I have been to some restaurants where the sodas and flavors are always out of stock, but that's not the case here. You want an orange Sprite? You want a cherry vanilla diet Dr. Pepper? You got it. I would give 0 stars if I could. This Wendy's puts absolute shame on the term "fast food". I wish I was exaggerating when I said I ordered from here than proceeded to wait 2 hours for my food just to end up cancelling my order. You may be thinking what kind of person would wait 2 hours for Wendy's? Well to answer that question let me just say I placed an order on grub hub so I just placed the order and then forgot about it for a while not thinking it would take that long. After 0 communication from this establishment I was left hungry and disappointed. I have also visited this specific Wendy's in person and have literally never had a good experience. A couple blocks away from the UPMC Shadyside hospital, this was one of the better Wendy's experiences I have had. Friendly staff working at a fast clip at the inside counter. I got a spicy chicken medium combo with small chili and sweet tea. I also picked up the $1 frosty keychain tag of which 0.80 goes to the Salvation Army and gets me a free mini-frosty with subsequent visits. They didn't try to upsell me or read me the rule book when I asked for extra hot chili sauce (my favorite hot sauce of any fast food chain) and crackers like the Wendy's at home. This is a horrible Wendy's! I placed a breakfast order on the app at around 10:07 and got to the Wendy's about 5 minutes later (it's nearby). The drive thru line was out to the street so I proceed to wait like 12 min before getting up to the speaker. This location's dining room/order & pickup inside is closed due to covid/labor shortage, etc and the app was telling me that I need to check in with them by 10:22 in order for them to make it. I got to the front at like 10:23-10:24 and they told me that they can't make it b/c it's past the check-in time. The app didn't give an option to check-in or else I would've done that. It's not my fault there was a long drive thru line. Wendy's corporate: there are so many operational things wrong with your process! Do you think any customer would return to Wendy's after the experience I had? I'm upset that I wasted nearly 30 minutes of my day and it basically ruined my morning. Wow. They sure need help here. It seems that there were so many DoorDash orders that all of the workers either did not know or were not trained in balancing all of that. The cashier was literally telling people to go home because they likely would not get their food because the DoorDash orders take precedence. Manager closed the drive through with 10 cars already in line. They said they could only handle dining in orders only (unless turned away by the cashier). 30 minutes to get a baconator sandwich. I've never quite seen anything like this. (Fully staffed with lots of hard working employees) They just need some good training on how to balance normal customers with an onslaught of online orders. Wendy's food tastes like Wendy's no matter where you go but it's not worth it here. The inside is gorgeous and new, but it's not enough for the service. I've been here multiple times and the wait is always slow, it doesn't matter if you go during an off time and there is only one person waiting in front of you. The wait was so long sitting in my car, that I've parked and tried going in to see if the service would move faster. It did not. On my last visit, one of the workers shouted at the top of her lungs and generally wandered around. At one point, she dumped frozen french fries into the fryer and arranged them without gloves on.
