The puff pastry of the rolls was shatteringly-crisp, with some browning on both it and the exposed meat at the ends. Since we still weren't l that hungry, we decided to share just one main, the cottage pie. I always give mental kudos to places that use the proper name for this dish (it's only shepherd's pie if lamb is used) and take it as a sign that they know what they're doing. It's hard to have a *bad* cottage/shepherd's pie, but KBC's stood a bit above the fray with a bit more depth of flavour to its meat seasoning, as well as the smoked cheddar in the potatoes.
