Service was pretty attentive and our waitress was phenomenal and really upbeat and sweet. They were on it with the refills too. I really thought the kids would love their food, but they just picked at it during the dinner. What kid says no to waffle fries and a hot dog? Apparently the hot dog looked to juicy? lol. My french fry loving son, had no issues with his fries but skipped the chicken nuggets. My poor husband had to polish off whatever was not eaten by our kids after he ate his burger and poutine. I had the plantbased burger and I had no complaints. I will say their pickles are really great on the burger and loved their house sauce that came on it as well. Their fries are on the meatier side and I only ate a couple and passed the rest on to the kids, since the burger was pretty filling on its own. They had toy story playing on the tv in the restaurant. Super cute. It was pretty pricey coming to around $100 after everything was paid out. I'd probably come back for some apps and small bites in the future when visiting in town.

Music is noticeable but not overpowering, supplementing the many conversations going on around us. Wait staff were on the ball and just generally really nice people! Lots of mix and match burger options, including chicken and vegan proteins. You select your burger, protein, type of bun including gluten free, and any customizations. The waitress pointed out one element on the burger I wanted on a GF bun would have gluten and suggested removing it, which I appreciated. Lots of drink options too. This is, overall, a 'something for everyone' experience.

Although many breweries/brewpubs have leaned into the now-cliché industrial look, KBC looks very much like an old school pub. Its walls are covered in the paraphernalia of countless beer companies, and there's plenty of nooks and crannies to sit down with your people and knock back some pints. Going to brewpubs can be a hit-or-miss experience for my non-beer-drinker wife, but KBC's enticing menu has something for everyone. Also, their sausage rolls appetizer was enough to ensure that we were both eager to try out the pub. The sausage rolls are of the bite-sized variety and come with a tomato-chili sauce for dipping. The puff pastry of the rolls was shatteringly-crisp, with some browning on both it and the exposed meat at the ends. I enjoyed the juicy, savoury meat inside and the tomato-chili sauce brought some acidity and heat to the show. Since we still weren't l that hungry, we decided to share just one main, the cottage pie. I always give mental kudos to places that use the proper name for this dish (it's only shepherd's pie if lamb is used) and take it as a sign that they know what they're doing. It's hard to have a *bad* cottage/shepherd's pie, but KBC's stood a bit above the fray with a bit more depth of flavour to its meat seasoning, as well as the smoked cheddar in the potatoes. As always, don't be too eager, as you will burn your mouth. Our server was very chill, but was still attentive and knew his stuff beer- and food-wise. It's easy to see why KBC is such a popular spot, and I'm glad we hit them up on this trip through Kingston!

We were seated and given menus, but no one came by to take our order for quite a while. Eventually, the hostess came over. I mistakenly assumed she was our server, but she clarified that she wasn't and said she'd take our drink order to help out while we waited. Only part of our drink order arrived, and nothing else followed. After waiting 40 minutes without anyone taking our food order, we decided to leave. As we were walking out, the server offered to rush something to us, but by then, none of us felt like waiting any longer. It was confusing and frustrating that, with so few customers, no one was able to take our order during that entire time. We have always enjoyed the food but this visit did not work out.

The decoration around the restaurant is super creative -- the salt and pepper are inside glass lightbulbs and our water was served inside jumbo measuering cups. The portions are perfect and the burgers were delicious -- juicy and savoury. They have an option to go with whole wheat, multigrain buns with sesame which I highly recommend. Their sweet potato fries, even though they were less than the bottomles fries, came at about $2 extra but I think they are worth the extra money. Each burger dish & side also averaged out to be approximately $22. Their drinks are quite expensive though. Also no wifi for customers which was disappointing!

The first think I noticed were the wall murals of Don Cherry, Doug Gilmour and the Tragically Hip. Otherwise, it looks like any other takeout joint. We were the only customers in the place, and the one person working was busy preparing orders placed online. He happily greeted us and asked if we knew what we wanted, but we hadn't yet. We eventually decided on combo #2 which the cheeseburger and poutine. The poutine was ready first, and it was - average. I was expecting something more, but it honestly wasn't any better than what I could get from a NY Fries (actually I like the fries at NY fries better). On the other hand the cheeseburger was pretty good. I only read after that the King St location might be better. I guess I'll try that location next time, if I'm in Kingston, but I'll keep my expectations in check.
