Beware, I went here today (Saturday) to fill up but all but one pump was working. so I waited for that pump and noticed the guy in front of me having issues, he left so it was my turn. I tapped my card and it went through like normal but wouldnt pump gas, so I tried one more time and same thing. After I left I checked my bank and both those times someone was trying to take $150, $300 total. My bank flageed this and fortunitly nothing was taken. I always check the readers to see if it has a phony cover, it didn't. That one reader is bad and trying to take your money!!! read more

I have been very loyal to this gas station. The prices are the best I've seen around. I very much appreciated the care the station showed the community while the power was off for so long. Tonight I had my third bad experience with Jacob behind the counter. He has been so rude all three times. I always come inside to pay to protect my card as it has been comprised previously (not at this station.) so now I don't want to return. Very disappointing. read more

WATER IN THE GAS! I filled up and next thing I knew my car was randomly losing power on the freeway. I bought some "water remover" and although it worked, my dashboard is lit up like a Christmas tree and I have to take the car into the dealership for service. I wanted to give Wendy's Gas a review because I've found them to be hands down the most affordable gas in the area. They beat everyone else's prices by at least .30/gallon. That is pretty much that beginning and end of my reason for wanting to review. I hesitated writing this after seeing some of the other horrible 1-star reviews on here... but ultimately, we as reviewer's shouldn't be swayed by the second-hand opinions of others and should really stick to our own experiences. Gas prices are always good. Staff usually friendly but the one guy with the beard needs an education in just being polite and maybe customer service. It's like it's a chore! Take your ear pods out and you won't have to say what all the time. Perhaps a smile. Or just be nice! If you don't like the job, get another one but in the meantime try a little. read more

Consistently the lowest prices in the area. I went there 1 night (always avoiding the daytime rush) and they had just run out of "regular" grade gasoline. Today I decided to head by the gas station to fuel up. I went ahead and asked for the bathroom key, but told by the worker that the manager was already in there. I waited almost 10 minutes for him to open the door just to come out to this absolute bomb shell of what they call a bathroom. The people behind the counter and at the register should be nicer or more polite to their customers. I don't think one of them has ever thanked me after I made a purchase. The tanker trucks that deliver fuel to them drive down Ruth Drive, which is a residential neighborhood. It is not a thoroughfare or an extension of the freeway off-ramp. This is dangerous and illegal. Last year, I drove to Wendy Gas and asked the driver why he used Ruth and told him he wasn't supposed to do that. He claimed that he didn't know another way to get there. I gave him instructions on how to get off at Borchard Dr. or Rancho Conejo Rd. and then use Borchard and Wendy Dr. to make their deliveries. With that said, they have continued to use Ruth. Just as I did last year, the next time I see them on Ruth I'm going over there to take photos of the tanker and the driver. Then I'll file complaints with the company that owns the truck, Wendy Gas, the Highway Patrol, the Ventura County Sheriff, the Thousand Oaks PD, as well as any regulatory agencies for petroleum products and highway safety. read more

It was apparent when I went there that the propane gas that should have been refillable was only certain hours. I wish a website was a available to tell me when those hours were but after being informed there isn't someone available until 10am, I just ended up exchanging my tank which is much more expense. read more

Although they offered cheaper gas than most stations in Newbury Park for a period of time, they now have kept their prices artificially high to profit for several months. Not worth the wait, there is cheaper gas at the 7-11 store on Rancho Conejo and in surrounding areas in thousand oaks and camarillo. Also there is similar priced gas at Chevron and other stations in Newbury Park at this point. I won't go back until they lower their prices like everyone else. read more

Station is clean. Workers are really nice and friendly and go out of there way to help. Prices are the best around. This nice young man helped me with propane and helped me with the air machine. I drive a LOT for work, I fill up at a minimum of every other day. I've been buying gas and coffee from this station for a few years now. I only use 76 gas in my vehicles and the only reason I use this location often is because its the closest to me that offers the "Kickback points" program. The place is run down and ragged and the turn over seems pretty high. Because of the high turnover the employees are pretty inexperienced. In the years I've been coming here there's only been one employee who was very nice and knowledgeable, but i haven't seen him in a while. Guessing he probably moved on. This morning I stopped for gas as I often do and the need arose to use a restroom. I went inside and asked where the restroom was, I was told "Sorry, no restroom. You'll have to go next door and use McDonald's". As I hurried over to McDonald's, I looked back at the building and right on the side I see a door with a restroom sign. I didn't bother going back inside and questioning the attendant. Restrooms are one of my biggest pet peeves about gas stations (which used to be referred to as "Service Stations"). Every building has a restroom, whether or not they want to let the public use it or not is another story. If you're running a gas (service) station, why wouldn't you let the public use it? Especially if it's outside the building. Very poor customer service in my opinion! read more

Been coming here for over a year to get propane and have shown up twice and also called and they still don't have propane for over a week. The owner doesn't tell anyone what's the reason they aren't getting new propane in. Also, gas prices here are absurd compared to others in Thousand Oaks area. I will never use this gas station again, even though it is the most convenient one for me to go to in the mornings. The attendant was so rude to me today. My Low Tire Pressure warning light came on this morning so I stopped in to check my tire pressure and fill them with air. The air/water machine says it costs 75 cents but air and water for your car are supposed to be free in California, so I went in and said, "I need some quarters for the air." The last time I used an air machine, I had to get tokens from the attendant. The attendant asked me to repeat what I said, so I did. Then he said, "Well, you have a dollar or something?" I gave him a confused look. He said, in an irritated tone, "You need change or what?" I said, "It's supposed to be free." Then he got all pissed at me. He said, "Yeah, free. So you ask me to turn on the pump for you. No one's going to give you free quarters. You ask to turn on the pump." I said, "Ok. I don't know how it works." I don't exactly look like someone who is going to try to scam 75 cents from a gas station attendant. Then I went all the way back out to my car and the jerk never turned on the pump. Instead of going back in to talk to him again, I left to go to another gas station, as I will do every single time I need gas, water, air, or a diet Pepsi. read more

I went there one evening for gas.. And while I pump gas I always clean my front windshield. The 1st thing I check at a gas station is for the squee-gee blade. I found mine in the designated slot, but without water. I pondered this, while emptying my cooler of a small amount of melted ice A.K.A. Water, only to have the clerk come out to question what I was doing. "What is dat?!" He pointed at the wet puddle on his beloved pavement. I told him water. "You sure?! It not soda??" he asked while glaring at me. I couldn't help it, I started laughing and attempted to reassure him it was only water. "You know, soda so hard to clean!" He stated, shaking his head while his gaze continued to pierce me with blame. Deciding to change the subject, I asked why the squee-gees had no water in their compartments. He answered, "That for customers only!" I decided to agree with him on that note and left. read more

The convenience store opens at 5am and not a minute earlier. There is only one clerk that knows what the rewards card is, and he is great. All the other clerks are terrible. They open the store late, don't know their own deals, have no idea what the rewards program is and definitely don't know how to scan it in. I've done my time working retail, restaurants, and grocery stores and I can't imagine the POS system being used is much different than what I have experience with. It isn't a hard job. Learn it and be helpful. Try to smile and be friendly. I don't get it, it's frustrating to come in here. The gas is relatively cheap (you get what you pay for) and the prices inside are average. The place is usually pretty clean. But the staff is horrible. Absolutely terrible. read more

A single very bad experience has convinced me never to go to this gas station again, if possible. I stopped here for air for my leaky tire, and I put three quarters in their air pump. After putting in my money, I noticed that the hose was apparently broken, and had old-looking tape on it, which didn't prevent it from leaking. I could get no air out of the pump, so I went inside and asked the clerk for a refund. He told me that he didn't have the key to the money box, he wouldn't refund my money, that they wouldn't ever have put an "OUT OF ORDER" sign on the pump because the gas station had nothing to do with the air pump (even though they would probably be able to flip a switch to turn it on for gasoline purchasers), that the state owned, operated, maintained, and regulated the air pump, and that the state would refund my money, and I should call the complaint number on the pump, 800-356-7057. Well, that number is the department of weights and measures, but I don't think they operate the air pumps at the service stations, nor do they refund quarters. The clerk also told me that he would not even refund my money as a gesture of goodwill, and he was unable to provide me with a business card or receipt showing the address and name of the gas station. read more

If I could give these guys "zero" stars, I would. But they were the only place open for LP gas on Sunday in the Thousand Oaks area... so for that, they get one. I have three BBQ gas tanks that I use. I have three because most places charge a 5 gal minimum which is about $20. I have always had a fundamental problem with this 'minimum' charge because these tanks NEVER use all 5 gals when they are empty - generally a refill is 3 to 4 gals per tank - I bring in at least two tanks each time. This way I get 6 to 8 gallons, exceed the minimum charges, and get the per gallon price. When I went in to this 76 station, the guy asked how many tanks and I told him, well... like 2 and a half. He looked at me funny and said, "So, you have three tanks. It's $19 per tank, so that will be $57". I was shocked and started telling him, "Wait, no. There not all empty." He told me that they have a per tank minimum and that was that. I said, "Well, I need fuel for my BBQ tonight and will only need one tank filled." When we got out to the LP tank, there was a sign on the side that read: 1 to 5 gal = $17 6 to more gal = $3.45/gal I mentioned to the guy that I would have bought more than 8 gals if he wanted to fill the other tanks. He told me that they have a 5 gal minimum per tank and these prices were for motor homes and forklifts. I tried to point out that if he would have sold me 8 gals it would have cost over $27 and that he only made $20. Again, getting frustrated with me and my apparent capitalistic logic... he said, "5 gal minimum per tank." My parting words were, "With a little customer service, I would have spent more money, been happy to do so, and would have returned to your store in the future. But now, you have my $20 and I will NEVER be back." read more

This station is terrible. I tried three different gas pumps to try and get gas. It never allowed me to even put my card thru. You would think that an attendant would come out to see why especially when you are the only car there. Very bad equipment and very bad service. If you can, go to any other station and choose not to be subject to this inadequate station. Go where you can good service and spend your $$$'s at places that are happy you are doing so! read more

Beware of buying propane gas from this place. I had two separate 5 gal propane tanks filled. Although I was charged $38.10 total, what I want you to know is that the pump stopped after 4.5 gallons, meaning I was shorted 0.5 gal for each tank. I was overcharged $3.81 for one gallon of propane I never received. I took pictures because I couldn't believe it and no one would believe me without proof. I called and asked to find out if the sell 5 gall total for each tank, and the attendant said yes, which is a bold faced lie because he records the counter numbers that are reset each time for each tank being filed. Be sure to ask for your full five gallons and watch the counter on the meter. read more

I will never return to the Wendy 76. I went to fill half empty propane tank before a camping trip. It took 3.1 gallons to fill yet I was charged for 5 gallons. What they fail to mention is they have a "policy" of a minimum charge. At no point do they tell you until at the register. Then they refer to the small sign on the counter next to the 17 other signs you were supposed to read. I came in for a tank refill and not a reading exercise. They stuck with their policy and I explained my policy of supporting businesses that charge me for what they actually provide and not trying to extort more $ from me. The Wendy 76 does not earn my business and I would consider other options before going to the Wendy 76. read more
