Heading back to Pennsylvania after we were out in Virginia, I decided that cutting through West Virginia was going to be my best bet and hopefully shave off some travel time. My route was bringing us through Charles Town and it was definitely time to grab some food. Asking my nephew what he was in the mood for and he chose Wendy's. I wasn't mad at that. This location was more towards town and made for entering to be a fun task. It was after a traffic light and if there was traffic waiting at the light and you needed to cross traffic to get into the lot, you might be in for a wait. Once into the lot you are good to go about your business. I'm not 100% sure of this, but I believe this was an older location given that new conversion look. Fake fireplace, updated seating, cleaner look overall. First thing in here is that you have to order. Even if you do order it a specific way, you may not get what you ask for. So, onto the food. My nephew wanted one of their biggie bag meals, which I think was the double bacon cheeseburger thing, requesting it to be no mustard and no onion. I went with the Dave's single, no tomato, no ketchup. Whenever our order was ready we found a seat and started to get the food separated out. That's when my nephew found the first mistake. His burger had the onions and mustard. He was upset, but not too upset, he attempted to eat it, not all of it, but he ate a good portion of it. Then I opened up my burger and it, to no surprise, had both the tomato and ketchup on it. I wasn't happy about it, but wasn't mad either. I took the tomato off and championed through the ketchup. I could understand if they didn't hear me, but I said it at least three times. I did not want want those items and made sure to check with the lady taking my order as well. Whatever, mistakes happen, but also, mistakes stick with you and will remind me to not stop at this location if I am ever in the area again. read more

Please please please bring back the brewed iced tea. I never write reviews but this makes me so sad. I always made a point of buying from Wendy's because the tea was great. The last time I brought my food home I had to dump the tea. It was awful. Can't come back until you fix that. read more

I keep forgetting how terrible the Charles Town Wendy's is and I go back, hoping for a better experience. Its never better. Its always a little worse or occasionally much worse. I roll in and theres no other customers in the Drive Thru all all, the dining area is closed. For some reason it takes about 2 minutes for them to even acknowledge me on the speaker. I ask for a spicy chicken sandwich, no tomato, fries, and a large Coke. No apparent problems taking the order, other than a language barrier and several misunderstandings. Roll around to the window, they actually have my food ready in a reasonable time. They dont give me a receipt, I foolishly thought it was in the bag. If I had been thinking clearly tonight I would have checked for a printed receipt and the accuracy of the food before driving off. Again, there's nobody else at the drive thru, I should have taken it as a warning sign. When I get home I realize the fries are gross, the Coke is Diet Coke, and the spicy chicken sandwich is a cheese burger. Could have let it go but its irritating they always mess up my order and I suddenly remember why I avoid this place in general. Drive back, ask them to remake my order. Rather than remake it the lady working the window wastes about 5 minutes scrolling thru her computer and trying to find it, then arguing with me about what I ordered. I finally had enough, say "thank you" and drive away, heading to Taco Bell. Taco Bell in Charles Town has worse food than the other Taco Bell's in the area but excellent service. Wendy's is just terrible. I should also point out that on both trips to Wendy's I saw employees playing with their phones not paying attention to work, fooling around in the parking lot (not taking out trash or cleaning, just goofing off) and one girl peeled open a plastic knife, ran her ungloved fingers all over the thing as if it was a fidget toy, then used it to prepare food. They should probably find a way to limit what the drivers can see in the drive-thru if they aren't going to act like professionals. This is not the first time I had horrible service and food here, so by posting a Yelp review I hope to remind myself to never go back. They really need a half day or something to go over their training again and remind their employees what is considered professional and what is not. Based on the goofing off I saw both inside and outside the building I am guessing the current owner doesn't know what goes on there, which means they also do not really care what goes on there. They should probably sneak in and visit the drive thru and dining area once in a while just to see how their people really behave. The only thing they got right was the fries, and the fries were just gross. Oh, and the lady working the window spent all her time arguing with me about the order rather than telling someone to make a spicy sandwich. I never did get my food. read more

I've been through the drive-through here many times and I am often amused by the things that they say when you pull up. Take this morning for instance. The lady says I just want you to know that we can only accept cash today and this happens so frequently here that I don't even stop unless I have cash in my pocket. The previous visit the lady says through the electric drive up ordering system that she was sorry but they had no electricity but exactly how did her speaker work? LOL This is like the most ghetto trashy place in terms f how it's managed. To honestly expect the worst and get it nearly 75% of the time is sad. No wonder Wendy's suffers low sales. So I rated a 3 for accessibility. I'm staying in the hotel across the street, I'm in town for work. I walked across the street to order it was a little after 7pm and the dining room closed. So I walked up to the window (waited my turn) and was told I wasn't allowed to buy food without a car. I own a car but I guess I need to be in it for my money to matter. So in my head this opens up a debate about the ethics around discriminating people who cannot afford a car or have a vehicle. Regardless, 3 stars. The worst service today. We were there at 11:30.... no customers. We should have left. My husband ordered a cheeseburger just mustard. Got to the car , everything on it. I noticed the women making food were huddled together. The fry person had her mask completely under her chin. Not covering anything. The cashier had her nose exposed. Fries were cold and burgers were not warm. Last trip to any Wendy's...done. Manager said nothing about the mask hanging off the fry persons face. Definitely know why no one was there. This place used to be one of the only places you could go in Charles Town where the food was good and the customer service was great! However, it seems they have also started down that road of trashy and disgusting like the other businesses around them. I ordered online from here once again today. Got there and there was only one other vehicle ahead of me and one vehicle in the parking lot. Pulled up to the drive thru speaker and gave them my name and order. The girl confirmed my order was there and they were working on it. Pulled around to the window as the other vehicle pulled away. The guy at the window told me my total. I told him it was an online order and he said I still needed to pay. Showed him my phone that it was already paid for then he said ok then and hands me the receipt off the counter by the window. He hands me my drinks and says the food is coming right out. I sit for almost five minutes at the window before he comes back and says I need to pull forward because my food isn't ready. I say ok, pull forward, then sit for another 20 minutes before they bring out my food. There's literally 3 people in the building already eating and no one at the counter. I get my order. The fries and nuggets are all in one bag and looked as if they dumped them all in at once then threw the containers in on to of them. They gave me an extra 10 piece nugget, maybe since I had to wait for forever, but had to throw half of them away because they were overcooked! All the drinks were watered down and disgusting! Horrible service. Didn't give me a receipt so I can't go online and complain about how bad the service was. Guy at the drivethru acted like he couldn't even speak to me when I said hi and then threw my bag out the window to me and didn't say a word. After driving 15 minutes home I find out they messed my order up. Sure can't call them to complain because the VM (really??? a VM and not an actual phone) is full and says to please hang up. This used to be a really good place to eat. Lately it has become a place to avoid. The place is filthy, both inside and out. The workers have no idea what they are doing. On the last visit, which was a dine-in, we were 2nd in line and had 3 other customers behind us. Every single order was wrong, including a person coming in from the drive-thru with a wrong order. I always stop at Chick-fil A on Saturday mornings for breakfast but I received coupons for Wendy's breakfast so I thought I'd give it a shot. On Feb 29th, I pulled in around 7:45am. No cars in the parking lot and no customers inside. I went through the drive thru and placed my order for the bacon, egg and cheese classic meal. Pulled up to the window and paid. Then I waited...and waited. Was there for a good 8 minutes. Now I know Wendy's claims to make things fresh so I really didn't mind too much about the wait. I did get my order. I peaked in the bag to make sure I had a sandwich and the seasoned potato fries, which I did. Got home (only 5 minutes away). My potatoes were cold and I received a sausage instead of bacon sandwich. We order from here a lot, and we always get the correct food items. However, every time we order UNSWEET Iced teas, and we make sure they understand at the box, we get SWEET Iced Teas. It's happened at least 9 out of 10 times, and sometimes even when we get to the window and say again, "Those are UNSWEET iced teas, right?" they verify, "Yes" and we take a drink and they're SWEET. So then we hand them back, and get the right teas. Too bad the first half dozen times we drove off without tasting, and just when they'd done it correctly two times in a row, I thought I could stop checking before driving off, but nope, dang Sweet Tea AGAIN! How hard can it be to make sure people get Unsweet when they order it? People with Diabetes, must really love getting Teas they can't drink. read more
