I had a bday lunch here with my sisters over the weekend. The place was lovely with both indoor and outdoor seating. Service was professional and friendly. We got several different dishes and desserts which we shared, including the white truffle mac n cheese with crab, dungeness crab avocado benedict, a dozen $1 oysters (as we came on a Sunday), chocolate chip banana bread pudding, and a cookie melt. Every single item was amazing, cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The mac n cheese was particularly enjoyable, a tasty cheese sauce and melted cheese combined with delicious crab in every bite. The desserts were beautifully presented, the cookie melt with a warm decadent chocolate flavor and the banana bread pudding delightful with the gelato. They offer both a brunch and lunch menu on the weekends, so there are plenty of tantalizing options to choose from. We had a good time, and I highly recommend this place if celebrating a special occasion or just looking for a satisfying meal.

Came here with my husband and my family on a Monday. The place was busy, but we still got good service. The $1 oysters tasted great as did the calamari. The lamb and lobster chowder were good, but I felt like the rest of what we had outshined them. Speaking of, let's talk about the sea bass: it was out-of-this-world amazing. I can't overstate how great the broth was and really pulled the whole dish together. I would highly recommend it, but it does have a spicy kick to it so you may struggle with it if you can't handle spicy food.

It's been awhile since I've visited this establishment. Recently I've been back twice around opening/lunch time. Each time it felt very lacking luster. The overall quality, experience and ambiance has changed drastically and not for the better. The menu is limited. They have an oyster bar and specials. Some of the classics still remain on the menu but some have disappeared. Someone in my party ordered a burger well done, the server repeated it back, but the burger came out medium. It was sent back and recooked/reheated which made the bun super crispy and challenging to eat (had to ask for a steak knife to cut it). Server noted that the table needed a refill on water, but the refill came as we were finishing up and handed the bill moments later. Keep in mind there were three other tables during the lunch hour so it wasn't super busy. I'd say this place is likely better during happy hour and small bites, but otherwise not so much.

For my bday, I chose Wence's to try out because of the mussels and calamari. If you follow me, you know that we are always on the hunt for the best mussels and calamari. We sat out on the covered patio and got to enjoy some World Cup during dinner as well. Our meal: Non alcoholic cucumber pineapple drink sounded good but was lacking in flavor. Didn't get the taste of any juice. The fried calamari was very over cooked and we should have sent it back. You know it's over cooked when the tentacles have to be spit out and the body parts aren't chewable. Beet salad wasn't bad. Generous chunks of red and golden beets at the bottom, topped with arugula, a quarter sliced avocado and some candied nuts. The flavors were solid. The mussels were good with a little kick. The mussels were cooked perfectly and the beard was gone. It's served with 4 points of a cheese type bread. The bread wasn't toasty. It would have been better with fries. The tempura oysters were our favorite of the meal. Light breading served with cocktail sauce and a soy based dip. We liked the soy based dip. Service was good, parking convenient. Because of the location, the place appears to be more of a locals hangout which is nice to have. I'm going to pass on returning here for now. You give it a try please. Support this local business.

Food: We ordered the oysters and mussels, and both were outstanding. The seafood was exceptionally fresh, plump, and high quality, making for a delicious and satisfying meal. Service: Excellent customer service throughout our visit. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. Ambience: Fun, lively, and energetic atmosphere that added to the overall dining experience. A great spot to enjoy fresh seafood with friends or family.

Absolutely recommend this place. Great place to celebrate any occasion. Great place to just enjoy a meal. Loved the cozy ambiance. Everything I tasted was delicious. I tasted the crab cakes, crab and Gruyere fondue, tempura green beans, and the smash burger. The waiter was very pleasant and friendly. The food was brought in a timely manner.

Me and wife drove to try this place and what a great surprise. The food we had here was a solid 10. Louis was our waiter and he was on point taking care of us hats off to him. Like the fact they have cold water carafe on table so no asking for refills. Complimentary bread and butter we started with the lobster chowder was nice and rich with lots of goodies on the bottom lobster pieces tender and sweet was perfect for us. Then oysters come next . Food come out pretty quick . Rockefeller were so good not over powered you can taste the oyster coming threw and the brines saltiness they were really good. When we go back im going to ask to go easy on the bacon and cheese to my liking. Tempura deep fried oysters were hands down delicious. Who dont like deep fried oysters. Place is really clean along with the bathrooms. We went Thursday on the weekday noon. Highly recommend this place, we will be back

We have been going to Wences for years and years. Birthdays, special occasions, great happy hour on the patio too! Daughter was in town. Wanted to take her and friend out to a nice dinner. Service is always fast and friendly. Food delish as always. We order calamari to start, it was perfect, lightly fried served with 2 yummy dipping sauces. For mains we had gilled salmon, lobster pasta, pasta carbonara, the special halibut wrapped in bacon. For dessert, the pizzookie topped with ice cream. A lovely dinner at one of our fave local spots! I will advise that if you like a quiter spot, sit outside or ask for a quieter corner. It was lively but a little load (yes, I am getting older so this has become one of the things we rate when dining out.) All in all, a great place and fantastic food!

I'm updating my review I've been back twice since Mother's Day and Sunday I came for dollar oyster day ! They did not disappoint! I was expecting maybe smaller oysters for the deal but no ! They were big creamy fresh oysters that you'd get any other day but for a dollar ! It's only for Sunday Monday while supplies last ! Wences you guys will be seeing me more often . We also tried the seafood grill which comes with salmon halibut scallops prawns topped with a creamy lemon sauce . Grilled veggies and polenta . First impression I was skeptical of the polenta because it looked like corn bread but you take one bite it melts like butter in your mouth . So creamy . The flavor amazing ! Fish was cooked to perfection . I would have liked the sauce to have more of that lemon in there but nothing a squeeze of lemon yourself can't fix . The citrus habanero scallops .... Were also cooked to perfection . Not chewy at all . A little underwhelming with the flavor description though . There was not a lick of habanero or any spice whatsoever or citrus . It was a very sweet sauce . Wasn't bad just not what was described my only complaint . And being they come by themselves maybe six instead of four would be nice ?? Besides that there are soooo many things I'm excited to try from the menu . I think my next choice will be the lamb chops !!! Waiters are always supper friendly and I'm not sure if it's the manager or owner but he too is always around when I come and is very attentive as well always checking and conversing with the customers . Wences is nice for indoor or outdoor seating ! It's family friendly or even date night . Pretty much if you and your crew love a nice vibe with good quality seafood i definitely recommend this place .

This place should have more than 2 $. It's expensive and the portions are small. Generally, I found everything to be over-seasoned and salty. Food was not bad, but I expected better with all the great reviews. The lobster rigatoni I ordered was good, but salty. It also hardly had any lobster. Sashimi of the day was just ok. Calamari was cooked well. Seafood was cooked well, just wish there was more. My husband ate his dinner in like 8 bites. The kids enjoyed their kids meals, but again-- 3 pieces of shrimp, fries and fruit is pretty skimp, even for a kids meal priced at $16. Garlic cheese bread was good. The lemon cheesecake was TERRIBLE. It was like eating a block of cream cheese. The texture was not right and there wasn't even a hint of lemon. The bread pudding was good. Ambiance is cute and cozy. Service was also very friendly. But again, food was inconsistent and overpriced..

Dined here for Happy Happy. We were seated outside of the restaurant. They have a cozy parklet with TVs, shade cover, lights and plants. Parking is available and shared with several other businesses. We enjoyed the following HH appetizers: Fried Calamari - lightly breaded and not oily. 5 Stars Truffle and Garlic Fries - small-size, but packed with flavor - 5 Stars Fresh Oysters - nicely chilled - 5 Stars Early Bird Dinner 3-Course Special: Lobster Chowder, Carbonara and Vanilla Ice Cream... all 5 Stars This is one of our favorite restaurants.

Shrimp Louie. Very good.
HOLLY P.

I had for lunch the Shrimp Louie. It was excellent. Everything was fresh and the lettuce was very crisp. There was lots of shrimp and dressing was served on the side. I think the price was fairly good. We sat outside on their covered front patio and it was cozy and protected from the sun and wind. It was nice. Staff was very friendly.

Do they do prime rib here?

I don't know if they have prime rib as a dish but they last time we were there, they served a great prime rib sandwich with fries. Top rate food. NY steak was really good, as was seafood salad and french onion soup and lobster tacos.

Blue neon arches, a huge underwater mural, plush chairs and low tables along the back wall. Worth the detour. Chris was working the bar on his second day and greeted us like a regular. I skipped my usual Manhattan and went with the Smoke Break, bourbon with bitters, smoke and black cherry. He nailed it. That is the one I would order again. Kudos to Chris for making the smoke linger and make the drink taste fantastic. I had this one in Oregon and it was cool but Chris did a better job with his method that really did serious justice to the name. My wife wanted the Cucumber Cooler, but they were out of cucumber. She pivoted to Sauvignon Blanc, and they were out of that too. The wine list runs four whites and four reds, so there is not much room to maneuver if the cocktails are not your thing. Chris read the situation, offered up a Paper Airplane since she wanted something refreshing, and put it on the house. Classic good bartending. It was louder than expected for how few people were in the room. On a Saturday with a DJ, music and dancing, I would guess the volume gets close to a rave. Go Tuesday or Wednesday if you want to hear the person across from you, and you will probably catch them fully stocked. My guess is weekends clean them out. Cocktails run 16 to 18 dollars. There is also a 300 dollar tequila and cognac number called La Maria served in a glass rimmed with gold dust, if you have something to celebrate. Happy hour is Tuesday through Friday, 3 to 5. They are on the ground floor of the Waymark apartments at 121 Pringle Ave with a small patio out front and heaters. Great spot to hang out and talk with friends, and a good pre dinner or post dinner stop rather than a destination for the whole night. When those doors shut you are transported somewhere neat. I would go again.

Fantastic drink. My friend tasted mine and ordered the same. The selection is the draw here. Whiskey lines the entire back wall, the rarer bottles sit behind wire-mesh locked cabinets, and there is a deep bench of tequila, beer on tap, and wine to round things out. One look at the shelves tells you they have the base for any drink you want. We split the Margherita flatbread, pesto, fresh mozzarella, and blistered cherry tomatoes, and it hit the spot as a drinking snack. The menu goes deeper than expected for a bar, with sliders, naan tacos, and charcuterie if you show up hungry. Service was good considering the staff-to-crowd ratio. Sevan stayed attentive the whole time and clearly knows his stuff. The vibe is chill and conversation-friendly, not too loud for the size of the room, with a bank of TVs toward the back if you want to catch a game. Logistics are easy. The bar sits a short walk from Pleasant Hill BART and parking in the area was no trouble. I've been a few times before and this visit confirmed why I keep coming back. For a high quality cocktail in the East Bay, this is the spot.

Second visit here, and it's a great spot for a relaxed afternoon with the family…read more Headlands is right near the Pleasant Hill BART station, so it's an easy walk if you're coming by train. If you're driving, there's a parking lot shared with the neighboring office buildings, and this is the one downer: it isn't free. The lot runs on Metropolis Parking, so you'll need to create an account since it's automated and tracks your license plate. Scan the QR code at the register to validate one free hour. Otherwise it's $2.50 an hour plus a $1.50 service fee. We stayed 1 hour and 44 minutes and paid $4 after the complementary hour, so it's not terrible, just a hassle to set up. The ambiance is my favorite part. It's entirely outdoors, but there's plenty of shade. We went on a Sunday with football on, and once the Niners game started they put it on all the TVs and turned the game audio on too. The space is split into three distinct areas: an adults-only deck that's slightly elevated, a family and kids section along the outer fence, and a main middle area open to everyone. It's family and dog friendly, and both times we've visited there have been lots of kids, so keep that in mind if you want a more adult environment. Since it's strictly outdoors, a rainy or cold day could be a tough time to visit, but when the weather is nice it's a great place to grab a beer, a bite, and some sports. Ordering is flexible. You can order at the main counter, or scan the unique QR code at your table, order from your phone, and they'll bring everything right to you. My wife and I each had a different hazy IPA and both were good, and the overall beer selection is nice. On the food side, the burgers are above average but not spectacular. The fries were the better side: crispy and well seasoned with a spice blend. The Oreo and brownie cheesecake was a hit, and my wife and son devoured it. Prices are reasonable for the area, and the food and beer both hold up for what you pay. Overall, it's a fun, laid-back spot for families, dog owners, and sports fans, with a great setup. Just plan for the parking process.
