The receptionist BARBARA, decided to have an attitude and was not compassionate, did not listen, and hung up/slammed the phone. Within the first few seconds of the call she repeatedly mentioned concierge service, understood Barbara. But the practice is pulling as IN NETWORK, so I asked a question. You interrupted me over and over and I took 2 seconds to respond to an aggressive person, but before a full word came out she hung up, and I mean old school slammed the office phone. I called back and she again spoke over me and continued to NOT BE HELPFUL AND NOT BE COMPASSIONATE of patient in need of establishing care and hung up again. I was angry and I am pretty certain I said a bad word when she hung up again. When I called back a male answered, I explained the confusion and my experience. He said they are inundated with calls, that doesn't mean you can hang up on a potential patient, if I don't do med, I could do SPA...right? Also, maybe the word "sweetheart" was in kindness, but read the room, when your staff is hostile, using "sweetheart" could be taken incorrect from male to female. Either way, again I was at ER last night, I am new to the area, and my insurance only pulled up this doctor. *see screenshot* Good thing you hung up on me BARBARA, maybe you are deterring clients and patients from this office and DR Yelena S Lapidus should reconsider who is representing the face of her reputable office from initial contact and preventing some patients from advancing. Ended up sweaty, hot, and late when I finally went in, but at least they didn't cancel the appt on me. When I went in, I was feeling a lot less than pampered. A quiet nurse came in, told me I needed to wait for the nurse so she could assess me, and that after this time I wouldn't need that anymore. The nurse finally arrived, walked in, and asked me what I wanted to do. I mentioned I had botox in the past. She asked if I had any reactions to it, and I said no. She went and got a vial and asked how much I usually get and where. I had no idea. It has been years. She said "we usually do 30-40 units". I said "I have no idea how much I got last time." She said it didn't matter & she would have to do her best. She put in the needle and went around the eye spots and forehead. Then left the room. A very sterile and curt visit... possibly because I was late.... Because of their absolute complete lack of reliable parking within walking distance for people older than their 50's... I would think a med spa would make arrangements for easy parking for their patients. It's a no-brainer in customer service... especially "high end" med spas.

It's not cheap because it happens to be nestled into a prime location. Of course, camping elsewhere is an option. But to get to a break-even point, you must factor in clean sheets, hot shower, three square meals, and the fraternity of right-minded people. Then there are the workshops. They aren't for everybody. You'll need to shop around. I did a hiking workshop, was paired with a nice group of people from across the country, and led by an experienced and capable team. The "safety in numbers" concept adds value. We stayed in a queen bed w/ private bath and ocean view in a building called Rolf on a cliff above the baths. With the patio door cracked you could hear the ocean crash into the rocks below and feel a cool breeze all night long. It was unforgettable and as cozy as being rocked to sleep. We did heed some of the yelp comments, here are a few: (1) brought our own pillows, what was provided were flat; (2) brought our own blanket, comfier; (3) Brought our own soap and shampoo, liquid soap was provided; (4) Brought our own towels, didn't need them; and (5) brought our own coffee pot, the coffee at the lodge was good. We understood there were nicer rooms at higher price points; but we were happy with where we were. On cleanliness, I didn't see a problem. It just so happens I was in the military, have been around, and so my tolerance levels have been irreversibly affected. The meals were ok. I registered as an omnivore and it seems this group is subordinate to the vegetarian and vegan crowd. Some of these dishes were outside my immediate preference and so I became pleasantly surprised quite a few times. Good learning opportunity. Nice touch too with the section of fresh fruits and veggies on the side. Like others, I could go on and on. Overall, I highly recommend it!

Many beautiful veggies (that we enjoyed for lunch) and exotic flowers that begged for their closeups. The signature esalen massage was like no other, set in a bathhouse perched over the Pacific complete with the sound of crashing waves. And the pièce de résistance -- sunset! No photo really does it justice. You must experience it for yourself. This place is pricy for overnight stays so a day pass is the way to go!
