On the Beach is a hidden gem. Do not question if you should book here or not, just do it! They have 14 rooms and a private parking garage. In the busy season they do book up so make your reservation early. Prime location right next to the pier. If you are on the beach side you will have an amazing view. Lots of places to eat within walking distance and a bunch of antique shops as well We were in room 202 which is an upstairs king room. The bathroom has shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion and liquid hand soap so no need to bring your own. Our room had a jetted tub The bedroom area has a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, fireplace and 3 chairs to lounge in. They provide an extra blanket if you get cold. There is best but no A/C. However there is a box fan in the closet and a ceiling fan as well Outside you have a small balcony with 2 chairs and a table. Beautiful View. Just be careful eating outside as there are lots of seagulls However they were friendly All day in the lobby you can get hot tea and hot chocolate along with fruit and cereal. From 8 am to 10 am they add coffee. From 4 pm to 5 pm they have beer and wine available They also have sugars and creamers available Breakfast is included each morning. You fill out a card with your choices and drop it at the front desk before 5 pm the night before. You can also leave it hanging on your door. Each morning you can have a pastry or quiche, flavors change daily. They also have yogurt, hard boiled egg, fruit, orange juice or milk. We had the quiche each morning and they were delicious. You can also choose what time between 8 am and 10 am you would like it delivered. Each afternoon freshly baked cookies are placed in your door hanging in a cute bag. The oatmeal and chocolate chip were amazing. If you want excellent service and amenities then this should be your choice. Very personal service, amazing location and quiet. Highly recommend this place! The staff went above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable and rememberable as they possibly could. They let us check in early without paying an early check in fee. The breakfast was delicious and filling. The homemade cookies left on the door were a very special, delicious treat! Shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion all smell amazing and make my skin/hair feel very soft. The view of the beach from the patio, was breathtaking! I have no complaints about this place! Will definitely be back in the near future. I have a lot of things I liked about my stay but I have to say what made the stay amazing was the Keurig in the room! I just stayed here again after many years and it is still fabulous. I loved my big room. The breakfast is different since COVID but they do bring it to your room which is wonderful. The cookies are amazing. The happy hour with wine is also excellent (although there are no longer any nibbles). The roof top deck is great. You cannot beat the location as it is right across from the beach and pier. You can also walk to everything. The best part though was the service. Everyone I encountered was warm and welcoming. Pilar was the standout. She was just wonderful and every guest I talked to raved about her too. I can't wait to come back. I will be there much sooner than later. Huge room, king size bed, Jacuzzi tub, ocean view, free happy hour wine & beer and you also get breakfast brought to your door! Seriously what else could you ask for?! Take in the views, take a walk on the beach and then go grab you some chowder from Duckies or a Brown Butter Cookie Co frozen custard and come back and either sit on the roof top patio or on your own rooms patio and enjoy! *P.S. they also bring fresh baked cookies and hang them on your rooms door handle every evening. read more

If you're looking for an escape, there's no where better than the quaint beach town of Cayucos. Better yet, there's also no better place to stay than On The Beach Bed & Breakfast. They are in a prime location directly across the street from the beach, yet conveniently provide parking (and a couple EV chargers) for guests underneath the building. I was welcomed by Sylvia at the front desk with a big smile cheek to cheek. She went over their complimentary happy hour, how breakfast works, what amenities exist at the B&B, and activities in the nearby vicinity. Upon entering my double queen suite (203), I was stunned by the size of the room with its vaulted ceilings, but also the stellar view. My room had a balcony that looked directly at the Pacific Ocean and the Cayucos Pier. This stay was simply to escape reality--and did exactly just that. I ran across the street for take-out, took a bubble bath in the jacuzzi, and ended the evening watching the sunset with the fireplace lit and a drink in hand. Did I also mention munching on the freshly baked, warm cookies?! The next morning I slept in and chose to have my breakfast delivered to my door. Both days' breakfast had delicious homemade scones, a good amount of protein options and my favorite local coffee (Fog Lifter) from Morro Bay Coffee Company. Next time I return to the Morro Bay area, I will be sure to stay at On The Beach B&B. read more

I had the loveliest stay at On the Beach Bed & Breakfast. The room was large and clean with a lovely balcony and fireplace. It's walking distance to everything in town including great coffee, restaurants, etc. It's also right on the beach, next to the pier. The staff couldn't have been friendlier and the breakfast each morning was phenomenal. Super lovely touches including homemade cookies and a complimentary glass of wine or a beer each evening. I loved my personal retreat in Cayucos. The fresh backed cookies on my door each afternoon, the breeze, comfortable bed and bath, friendly staff and convenience to the beach helped me recover from a rough 2020 and prepare for my 2021. I plan to make an annual Walt spring pilgrimage to this spot. I was helped by staff via phone and in person; they helped me choose the right room for me. I was on the street side, it was awesome, and I think I'll choose the beach side next time just to get a little extra sea breeze. I had breakfast on the balcony every morning! We just spent 4 glorious days in Cayucos at On the Beach B&B, its our second time staying here, and both time was great. We love this quaint little town and travel up here to have a romantic getaway a couple times a year. This is our go to place to stay when we are here. The people who own and run it are so sweet! Large rooms with views of the town and of course ocean views..you can hear the ocean waves from every room, even the rooms with a town view. Yummy Breakfast quiche and a pastry, warm apple turnovers...yes please. The location at the end of the pier couldn't be better. Very comfy beds with the softest sheets I've ever slept on. Anyone wishing to stay at this hotel, we experienced bedbugs. We are now going through the laborious process of cleaning our clothes, luggage, and interior of our car to mitigate the possibility of bringing them into our house. Beware!!! And they knew the place had bugs. When I called them to let them know while I was in the room. They said they thought they got rid of the bugs. Spacious rooms and bathrooms, right on the ocean where we left balcony door open all night and listened to waves, amazing baked cookies and fresh cooked breakfast delivered to your room plus Happy Hour with beer/wine daily. I forgot to leave a review from when we stayed here in March 2022. Our stay was perfect! My newborn was 6 weeks old and this was our first overnight with her. This place is perfect for small families. Our room was super spacious and had the perfect chair and footrest for nursing- right by the slider so we could have a view. Everything was clean. The woman working the front l was so kind and friendly. They had a social hour with complimentary wine/ beer in their lobby with a cozy fire. In the morning they had to go breakfast due to Covid. Very nice place. Got a deal off Living Social for $152 and the room was worth it. Nice sunken tub for two people, fireplace, nicely decorated and right next to the beach. Two comments, the breakfast was very good, but the area is right in the middle and difficult if you have people checking out. The other thing was even though it was next to the beach a street runs behind that got a lot of traffic for a small town so we were hearing that more than the ocean. The other thing and my wife will be mad I said this, but we had a girl give us a real condescending attitude when we checked in. The rest of the staff from then on were great though, but that is not the first thing you want from a place you're staying at. read more

Great location, huge guest room, clean, quiet, adequate (underground) parking and pretty good food. They phoned to alert us our room was ready early. The room (202) is huge and well appointed with smart furnishings and a high ceiling. The bed is firm but not hard. I had no complaint about the bed but my wife didn't sleep well. Happy hour/evening hosting includes complimentary wine and beer along with associated finger food. They don't hold back, I was handed a full bottle of IPA from a local brewery. Good pairing with the variety of cheese offered. The bathroom is the reason I dropped a star from an otherwise deserved five star rating. The commode is very low to the ground. For the perfectly fit yoga practitioner it may not be an issue. The bathtub/shower offers no hand bars or anything to grab onto for exiting or steadying. The shower curtain doesn't prevent water from spraying. Also the water is ultra hot, a good thing normally but the controller for the water requires a certain amount of hit and miss while adjusting. With the beach right across the street there is the usual noise that you might expect with people coming and going during the day. That is obvious, but Cayucos is a quiet beach town so once the sun goes down it takes on a ghost town effect. This translates to a quiet sleep. At 6:00 am the beach and pier was deserted. For a little while we felt like we had our own private beach view. Breakfast is served late by our schedule. They offer a short version of breakfast at 8:00 but the full entree begins at 9:00. The cook made an incredible egg strata and honestly it was worth the wait. read more

We just stayed at the On the Beach Bed & Breakfast for our third time. This place does not disappoint. Post covid, they no longer serve breakfast in the dining room. Each day, we selected our items for the next morning's breakfast and then the meals were delivered to our room at our requested time. Such a luxury! The food was so good! Each day we ordered the quiche and the pastry. The quiches were so tasty and a nicely sized portion. The quiches and pastries differed daily. Such a treat! And the happy hour continued to be such a nice touch. There was nothing like getting back after a day of hiking, touring, etc to a nice glass of wine or a beer. Happy hour snacks are not just snacks but a mini meal. We had chicken/pineapple skewers and salad and every night was delicious. Dessert at 8 was wow!! A lunch out is all you need to eat well for the day. They even have fruit out all day long and you can eat as much as you want. Very value-priced when you consider that. You can't get any closer to the beach, when I opened the patio slider I could hear the beautiful sounds of the ocean. The linens and towels were of first quality. When you arrive parking can be tricky, we were handicapped so we parked in the underground parking however to use the elevator we had to leave my mom alone and find the office. Once resolved we learned we had our own spot outside so know your room number and park in your own space. Handicap ramps at all entrances. Ok, so the hotel itself...we loved it! Room was clean and the staff was so friendly. Coming back from dinner to see fresh out of the oven brownies was a little highlight to our girls trip. Breakfast we thought it was bagels and oatmeal..wait until around 9 and staff is making waffles or egg dishes...yummm! Being next to the pier we understood people were going to be out and about making noise so dont expect to fall asleep with only the sounds of crashing waves. The complimentary beverage and warm fresh cookie in the evening was so sweet and the cherry on top to the best bed and breakfast in Cayucos! We so enjoyed our stay Friday-Sunday. We got home and started to plan our next visit for a few months down the road. You are centrally located and within walking distance to everything. Someone complained the fireplace didn't work... if you flip the switch and it just clicks there's another switch a few feet away and you just hit that and it'll turn on it really was a no brainer lol. The weather was colder but the room was cozy even with the sliding door open a little and the fireplace on. The jacuzzi tub is roomy and so nice. Floors were very clean, overall room was very clean (and I'm picky with that stuff) my only complaint was that the pillows and bed were uncomfortable and kind of hard, but I'm thinking they might all be different beds and pillows throughout the rooms because our neighbors loved their bed saying it was fluffy and soft lol. Bedding was beyond comfortable though!! So soft and plush and cozy! I really can't say enough amazing things about this quaint place. We can't wait to return!!! read more

Oh how do I start this review?! This bed and breakfast is sugar, spice, and everything nice! Exceeded all my high expectations and wishes. It all started with me looking for a good non-generic, small-intimate, cozy and budget friendly bed and breakfast for a surprise birthday get away trip for my hubby. I searched and searched and was finally was able to find one... This one! This is a little piece of heaven on earth! From the location, the view, the food, drinks, amenities, and their humble service, I could not have asked for more. My husband and I extended our stay because of how amazing everything was. -Their hot bfast was phenomenal! Maureen, the cook, puts her effort on everything they cook. They have appetizers and drinks for the late afternoon, and snacks before bed. The really good kinds! :) -the 2 rooms that we stayed at had everything that we needed. Jacuzzi tub on our bathroom, a patio with an ocean view, a huge comfy bed, and a cute homey fireplace. Like I said, could not have asked for more. -their staff is really great. Very intimate. And having to work in a customer service field, service is everything to me. Quality service is what I got from them! What a great spot! And yes, it is on the beach (though technically there are some parking spots between the bed & breakfast and the beach. We stayed for one night in a room that had a small balcony that overlooked the beach. The room was huge and had a fireplace; it was an incredibly cozy spot and perhaps a bit romantic considering that it was a girls' getaway weekend. There was a large jacuzzi tub in the room and also a hot tub on premises (neither of which I used). Beds were also surprisingly incredibly comfortable. The service and "amenities" (if you want to call them that) were great. The woman at the front desk was helpful in providing us with the lay of the land in Cayucos and also with all that the B&B had to offer. We partook in the happy hour which included pizza (!), local wine and beer. The wine was quite tasty (my first Roussanne). They also provide breakfast which consisted of vegetarian quiche (artichokes and goat cheese) and french toast along with continental breakfast, fruit salad and coffee and teas. If you were not magically transported to On the Beach Bed & Breakfast in Cayucos you MUST call immediately to book a room here. September 17-20, 2012, my wife and I stayed in Room 204 celebrating our 4 year anniversary. There was a bottle of chilled Tobin James California Champagne and chocolates in our room - very nice touch! From the reservation process, to check-in, to hospitality this B&B exceeded our expectations. We have stayed in B&B's before but this one was special. True, it is not a traditional B&B, it is more like a converted beach hotel. And, it is on the beach (separated by a 20 foot access lane for parking - no big deal). ROOM: #204 was clean and comfortable. All the amenities one would need to truly escape. King bed, fireplace, in-room Jacuzzi, balcony, iHome dock (for iPhones/iPod...), ocean breeze, sounds of seagulls, sounds of seals & sea otters, and the sound of crashing waves. We stayed during the week, so it was beyond peaceful (even though the B&B was fully booked). FOOD: All food/drinks were served in the Lobby Area. Breakfast was divine - imagine still being in bed, waking up to the sound of crashing waves and then smelling bacon, French toast, etc. while you're still tucked away in a warm, cozy bed! Ahhh!!! Social Hour is from 5-6pm and it truly is a social hour. The appetizers served were unique and very tasty! And the wines served...TOP quality. We belong to 60+ wineries from Temecula to Napa and the wines they served were from wineries we are members of (mainly Paso Robles). No boxed wine here. Hmm, ready for bed?? Sneak into the lobby after hours for a midnight snack. Homemade, sweet goodies (that vary from night to night) that are the perfect nightcap! We were fortunate enough to be in-town with very interesting and distinguished couples. Everyone shared about their life experiences. We also discussed about the town (where we ate, where we toured...). This was a happy bonus as the guests (in most B&B's) can either "make" or "break" the experience. This place is such a blessing... I found on Priceline a Friday night deal that was amazing price. The hostesses was down to earth And hospitable. We stayed in room 6 and had a street and ocean view. I have never stayed in a bed and breakfast before. Very cool. pillows are great, robes could be a little softer, but place was very quiet and great way to spend a romantic night with your spouse. Breakfast was amazing it was a cheesebread batter waffle and on top an egg with pesto and sausage bits.. yeah! Definitely coming back here again! Highly recommend. Breakfasts worth getting up for and that is saying something for a night owl like myself! Fresh fruit, two main choices like waffles, casserole, or quiche, and always prepared with a special flair. No wonder there is a cookbook available! Communal tables add a nice social aspect, but you can still find another spot to sit or take the food back to your room if you don't feel like mingling. Social hour with local beer, wine, cheese and crackers and even a bedtime snack of fresh cookies are excellent touches. Stayed over for the New Year's Day Polar Plunge and so convenient to trot down to the beach, take the plunge and run back to the jacuzzi tub to thaw. Unfortunately we didn't have an ocean view, but it was okay to look out and people watch. Believe it or not, the gas station across the way has a great little MX restaurant the locals love with incredible tacos and such at unbeatable prices (check for daily specials). Parking underneath the BnB is convenient and it's such a walk around town that you may not use the car as much as you'd think unless you want to tour wineries and breweries and Morro Bay, etc. Very pleasant staff. Would love to go back, but just too much of a budget stretch. Will thrive on the memories for years.... read more

We stayed here for our friends birthday celebration. This was such a fun weekend, staff was excellent, very personal. The Hotel and rooms were very clean. You don't want to miss their wine social which they serve great red and white local wines, Cynthia who was in charge of the munchies that evening... Since I was gluten free, she made gluten free cookies for me and an amazing cheese and meat platter, I brought my own crackers. I was in heaven We ALL wished she worked everyday. The nibbles change from day to day. The Breakfast that they served in the mornings was so good and much VARIETY, where everyone was happy. Perfect little getaway. This was my second stay at this charming B&B on the coast. Splurge and get the second floor beach view suites, large and comfy with gorgeous views of the beach, pier and in the distance, Morro Rock. Located on the "Main Drag" the inn is situated in the best area for ease of shopping, dining and walking in the beach in the quaint coastal town of Cayucos. My husband and I always seem to be breezing through on our way to a conference, but have decided with this trip that we definitely need to come back for a few days of r&r. Not the best bed and breakfast place I've been to, but this was still a pretty awesome stay! Right across from here is the beach so you don't have to go too far to enjoy a day at the beach, or stroll on the dock over the waters. I'm not sure if all the rooms are like this, but our room was BIG, had high ceilings, patio opened out to the beach across the street, nice bathroom, plug in drying/heat rack for wet clothes, fridge and fireplace. Very nice. =) They also had a jacuzzi on the rooftop (2nd floor) where our room was. We happened to go when it was a tad chilly so we made use of the Jacuzzi. It was nice to sit in hot water and be able to look out at the ocean. The breakfast was not bad either. I remember a salmon benedict, baked pastry something, and lemon crepes- delicious. Not spectacular, but good breakfast nonetheless. They also had juice and coffee, cereal and yogurt bar with fresh fruit and granola. When in the dining area, note that you can mail postcards out to those you want to share your vacation with! They have a postcard of their Inn and you can mail the postcard for free!
