This hotel offers a wonderful experience because of their friendly, professional staff and unique decor. Their happy hour is a perfect way to begin your evening. Complimentary wine and beer accompanied by a tasty hor d'ouvres. Our room was modest in size but nicely appointed. If you want, they provide a well stocked minibar. Breakfast is a variety of delicious options. We really enjoyed their frittata. And their croissants were some the best we've ever had. There's a Mexican restaurant next that offers excellent food and drinks. Good service as well. We will definitely be back on our next trip to the SLO area! Cheers!

I wanted to give this place a terrible review just so no one else books it, and they keep the prices not outrageous forever... but I'm feeling generous. So here it is: This hotel? A vibe. My girlfriends and I stayed here for a 3-night girls trip to escape husbands, chores, and reality....and honestly, highly recommend. The rooms are small, yes, but they're like a perfectly packed carry-on: efficient, stylish, and somehow fit everything you need (except emotional baggage, you'll have to unpack that elsewhere). It's a renovated space, and you can tell they made smart choices, except maybe the courtyard. It's big and underused, while we were doing Cirque du Soleil-style flips to share one outlet inside. I have to warn you about the door locks. Everyone outside was struggling like they were trying to crack a safe. You haven't lived until you've heard 14 guests muttering, "Why won't it open?!" at 1am. Hint: push the door while attempting to turn the key. Also, the shower setup needs help. No door, just vibes and puddles...you might need to throw in some water shoes. Water everywhere. It was like showering in a slip-n-slide. And the shower head doesn't move, so you're either freezing or fully baptizing yourself. That said, the beds are dreamy, the decor is boutique-hotel goals, and the included breakfast and afternoon apéritif? Absolute chef's kiss. We felt fancy. Like the kind of people who say "I'll have the rosé" without looking at the menu. Staff? Wonderful. Non-judgmental, even when I rolled up with a suitcase that could crush a sedan. I brought six pairs of heels. Don't ask why, just know I regret nothing. Life is short. Bring the shoes. Parking, however, is chaos. If your car is bigger than a medium-sized golden retriever, good luck. It's tight. Like "how did I even get in here" tight. But once you're parked, don't move again. Uber is your friend. All in all, loved it. Would stay again. Might even bring seven pairs of shoes next time.

I loved this place! The room was super cute- updated and clean with personality. The front and back patios were both super cute. Loved sitting on the back patio playing games during their complimentary happy hour. My favorite part was the breakfast both mornings. Both days we ordered the quiche and fruit. One day was an asparagus quiche and the next day was peas. Both super unique and flavorful. We also split a chocolate croissant and sliced up bananas to eat with each bite...100% recommend! All of the other breakfast entrees also looked amazing but we couldn't pass up the quiche! Would love to stay here again. Please note there is no elevator at this hotel so if you have mobility limitations (or a giant, heavy suitcase like me) then you may want to request a room on the first floor.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Petit Soleil for a few days during the week of Thanksgiving. The check in process was quick and easy. We arrived just as their nightly apertif hour was ending (6pm), but they still squeezed us in and took our orders after we dropped off our luggage which was so nice. The rooms are newly renovated and decorated beautifully. Our room was equipped with a smart TV that had Netflix and other apps on it which we really appreciated (you do need to use your own logins though). They provided soap, lotion, and bath products that smelled really earthy and luxurious. There were also free sleeping masks and earplugs in the room. This bed and breakfast is dog friendly which was a big reason why we chose it. That said, the rooms are not very soundproof so you may hear some doggies barking during your stay. Keep that in mind if you are sensitive to noise. The breakfast and apertif hour ended up being the highlights for me. The food, charcuterie, and drinks were consistently delicious and tasted fresh. I liked how the menu items rotated daily to keep you from getting bored! Finally, I want to shout out the staff here. They provided excellent service and were always happy to help, whether it was filling up my water bottle with ice cold water or storing my leftovers in their kitchen fridge. Thank you Petit Soleil - I can't wait to be back!

our room wasn't particularly large, it featured a comfortable bed and a convenient mini bar setup stocked with pre-made cocktails and non-alcoholic options. The bathroom was spacious, with excellent water pressure in the shower. The provided shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion all worked well for us. Having little experience with bed and breakfasts, I didn't know what to expect from the included breakfast, but I was pleasantly surprised. Breakfast featured complimentary pastries, coffee, and a choice of items from their menu, such as quiche, granola, and oatmeal. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Despite our late arrival after 11:30 PM on a Sunday, the front desk staff checked in with us beforehand and even offered to wait if we were running late. The breakfast staff were equally warm and accommodating. Thank you, Petit Soleil, for a wonderful experience.

I love finding these "hidden gem" B&Bs. We got an upgrade to the suite and it was so beautiful. I love the color scheme and gold fixtures. Fireplace, double sink vanity, 3 head shower. What a treat! Located close to downtown, it's a nice walk. Breakfast in the morning was nice. Waking up to the smell of baked goods wafting up to our room, we naturally woke up early to enjoy the fresh pastries and food. All the staff were friendly and attentive.

A blissful boutique hotel experience. The room: Elegant interior design with lovely attention to detail, even down to the toilet paper roses. The space was small but not cramped. The lighting was strong and bright. You can buy all their furniture and decor! The walls were thin so you could hear when your neighbors talked. The only thing we did not like was how the AC unit was right above the bed. The food: unexpectedly, our stay included complimentary happy hour drinks and hors d'œuvres, as well as brunch! Everything was delicious, fresh and well-made. It was a dream to wake up to fresh pastries, with tasteful crockery and charming napkins. Their outdoor seating area was quaint and cozy. A true little taste of Europe. Parking was so easy in the small lot out front. Service was friendly and attentive. Check in and check out process was smooth. We will return for sure!

This is the best hotel I have ever stayed at!!!! First of all, all of the staff here and extremely nice, welcoming, and accommodating. The hotel itself and the room is beautifully decorated and extremely clean and comfortable. The breakfast was also amazing!!!

This place is seriously a hidden gem. My husband and I were traveling back from a wedding and decided to break up our drive and stay here for two nights. It definitely did not disappoint. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast in the morning as well as the afternoon aperitif hour. Everyone on staff were incredibly friendly and personable. I cannot wait to go back. I would highly recommend this place to anyone !

What a pleasant surprise. This French themed B and B is a makeover of an older hotel. It's cute and it's quaint. Really advise being on the 2nd floor middle. The bottom and end rooms can be quite noisy, especially next to the stteet. We were in room 24, Coted Azure or Coast of Azure. Nice enough room with a king bed, a day bed,and a love seat at the foot of the bed. No bath but gorgeous and roomy shower. There is plenty of hot water, including soaps and shampoos, etc. A/c works with a remote and did the job. Although the temp high was 80* and would have been fine without it. Evening Apertif was a glass or two of wine with an assorted charcuterie plate. It was very nice and pleasant in the courtyard. The waitstaff is very friendly and attentive. Breakfast was very nice with a selection of pastries and coffee, choice of pancakes or fritata or French toast. Very nice waitstaff. Definitely recommend. Parking is next door shared with a cafe. Other shops and restaurants within walking distance.

Charming, quaint, rustic, afternoon wine and aperitifs, breakfast in the morning, and dog friendly! There is a lot to like about Petit Soleil! While the property is located off of a busy street, upon entering the courtyard entrance the owners have done a nice job of creating a feeling of a small French Inn. It's a pretty old and small property, but very cute. The dining and courtyard areas are nicely done. Renovations of front rooms were in progress when we were there. There is a small kitchen next to the inside dining area where afternoon snacks and the morning breakfast is prepared. Take a seat during serving hours and the staff comes to you to take your order and serve you. In the afternoon we had a nice little plate of meat, cheese, fruit and nuts, with our choice of wine. Breakfast was a choice of pastries to start, followed by French toast for hubby and a frittata for me. Delicious! Our king room was an easy walk upstairs. It was cute. The room was pretty small, with enough room for a king and a trundle bed. Very small bath. Nice shower. There was a small TV and a refrigerator. Window view was of roof top next door. There's a trick to unlocking the door. Once we figured it out it was easy. Our room was away from the street, so no noisy traffic. Don't stay here if you want luxury and views. Do stay here if you want good service, good value, and need dog friendly. Next time we're bringing our dogs!

We checked in around 6pm on a week day and booked a fire place room (room 8). We had no issues checking in and I love how cozy the hotel is. It had a feel of a small, personal hotel which I loved over these big hotel chains. The price was also very fair per night. The room: extremely large and clean. I loved the fire place although it got pretty hot pretty quickly. This would be perfect for the winter! I liked it just because there's something about having a fire place that just makes the room much more cozy. Amenities: The hotel delivers breakfast every morning around 7am with local black coffee and two pastries. We were also very pleasantly surprised to see they have an EV charger. It's $2 per hour which is fair. Charges about 6kwH (even though the charger says 8kW per hour). The good thing is when the charges cut out occasionally, it didn't charge me for that time. Was able to charge fully on my Tesla Y from 10% to 80% for like $14. They also have local Kombucha which you can ask for at the front desk. You can also keep the bags that come with the breakfast which is an awesome momento! Feedback to the hotel: I didn't take any stars off because it's not really a negative but just something you can improve on. We did have really noisy guests next door some back late at night (likely inebriated) but the walls are extremely thin and you can hear everything even people just walking up the stairs to their rooms. It woke us up and made it hard to fall back asleep. We could also hear the laundry machines or something rumbling in the middle of the night as well. Moreover, the sink stopped draining in the bathroom which we told the front desk at checkout and they were appreciative of the feedback. Overall, my wife and I loved this hotel. the rooms were lovely and cozy. It was so awesome they had EV charges which saved me so much time having to run to a super charger. Service was amazing as well. Would definitely stay here again when visiting SLO.

Unfortunately, my experience here was the complete opposite of what a B&B should offer. From the moment I arrived, the staff member on duty, Paige, did not greet me, smile, or even say hello. She never asked how my drive was, where I was coming from, or what brought me to town -- the kind of basic hospitality you expect at any B&B. She didn't explain anything about breakfast, amenities, or the property. She simply handed me the key and that was it. When I got to my room, it was freezing cold. There were no directions, no phone, no coffee machine, no pen or paper, and I couldn't figure out the TV. The fireplace didn't work either. I went downstairs to let her know, and she came up but remained just as unfriendly and disengaged. She knelt down to look at the fireplace and said, "I can fix it if you want me to," instead of simply taking responsibility and saying she would take care of it. She also told me the heat would "take a while" and then left without any further assistance. The next morning, I went to breakfast and sat alone. Paige was chatting warmly with other guests, asking them what kind of omelet they wanted, but she never acknowledged me at all -- not even a simple good morning. I felt completely invisible in a place where hospitality is supposed to be the entire point. This was, without question, the worst B&B experience I've ever had. I left feeling unwelcome and disappointed, which is especially unfortunate because I was genuinely trying to get a sense of the town. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, because the lack of warmth, communication, and basic hospitality was shocking for a place that markets itself as a charming, guest‑focused inn.

We passed by it and immediately wanted to get a room after seeing how cute it was! So, we called, asked about any openings they had, and they had 2 rooms available so we asked for one of them. It all went downhill from there. Upon arriving, the door was locked. I suppose this isn't that big of a deal, but you are to call the number of the inn and ask them to open it up for you. We checked in, got our key, and immediately regretted it. This place is not just dirty, disgusting, and filthy; it also flat-out smells. Not to mention the place is just...creepy. The entire b&b just smelled grotesque. I couldn't quite place it -- maybe a combination of old, used cat litter and something rotten? The place was dirty, stacked high with old magazines and newspapers, the carpet was absolutely the most disgusting carpet I have ever seen. And it doesn't stop there! The room we got was the White Lace room, and it wasn't much cleaner than the rest of the house. The curtains were dirty, the bed was creaky, the shower was moldy, everything had obviously not been cleaned in a while. The bed covers were absolutely disgusting, like genuinely felt gross, sticky, and dirty to the touch. The room was cute, but gross. The creepy part was that the room key is the same as the front door key...so, yikes. It seemed as though there were some long-term residents there, one of whom had their door open and was coughing and hacking...ew. The guy kept talking about ghosts, which we were just not into. Not to mention the service -- the guy made a comment, and asked if me and my long-term girlfriend were sisters. We just nodded and agreed, as we're not from around there and just weren't really sure what reception of us being gay/queer would be. But what a presumptuous comment to make. So, after all this, and after we put down $200 towards this awful room, we decided that no way were we staying in this bedraggled, disgusting room. We left. We were there for no more than half on hour, and I am not exaggerating. So here's the real kicker; the owner of the b&b called us, claiming that we had left "disturbing stuff" in one of their showers. Again, we were there for no longer than 30 minutes. We didn't even use the showers. It was obviously a gimmick to get us to pay even more money for "damages." We froze our card (just in case) and didn't take their calls. Out of all the nastiness that went down at this place, this was the thing that left the worst taste in my mouth. Anyways, because this place hasn't had a review in over a year, I can only imagine that whomever stayed here has been silenced with financial threats, like claims of leaving something nasty in the shower. Either that or they have been silenced in other ways. I don't know, but I would never in a million years recommend this place. Go literally anywhere else.

There are two bicycles near the front door for you to use (I'm assuming, but we didn't utilize them). Everything was immaculately clean -- everything in our room & bathroom and the shared kitchen and lounge space. There is hand sanitizer in the shared spaces as well as a hand soap by the kitchen sink. The soap and shampoo brands are great quality. There are extra blankets in your room as well as in the lounge (I noticed them neatly folded in a basket. I was up early Sunday morning to take my dog out for a walk. I read that there were complaints about the noise, but we didn't experience loud noise from the street nor from within the hotel. We could tell there was another dog next door, but it wasn't noisy in our opinion. For anyone worried about no on-site staff, do not worry! I accidentally knocked over a glass in our room. Kelly leaves her phone number if you need anything. In that instance, she offered to come right away, but we opted to wait until we left for the day to have it vacuumed. Can you tell by the length of this review that we loved our stay? Lol

Just off the 101 north heading towards SLO or Paso is the famous hotel, Madonna Inn. The last time I've visited the place we stayed in their Kona Rock Room. A fun caveman style room with boulders as the walls. Also the funky shower made out of rocks. The whole concept of rock room. Not just that, each room has a different theme so whatever mood you like, the place is your oyster. We stopped by just to show the property off to some friends who's never been but have alway wondered about the place. It's off the freeway so you won't miss it. The cute facade and the massive grassy knoll out front. Big decent size parking lot utilizes more for the restaurant as there's another lot heading towards the room. Of course everyone comes for the hotel but you can't miss the funky pink restaurant. A staples at the property. Let's say valentines on crack times 1000. It's funky but the cutest. It was closed when we arrived but I believe it's more for dinner. The cafe to the side was packed so that does get utilized often. There was a major line waiting for a table. You could walk through the restaurant to check it out. They were setting up the banquet room for a wedding reception happening later that day. Right when you walk into the restaurant, you're greeted with the pink room. Beautiful pink tufted booth similar to old school Vegas mob vibes but hot pink. Behind that is the bar with similar concept. A beautiful large stone fireplace situated in between the entrance and the bar area. There's a staircase that leads you upstairs to the shops. To the left is the main boutique with pretty much everything. Dresses, apparel, gifts, male and female clothing, costumes but really are gowns, shoes and so on. Cowboys vibes with a lot of the clothing. Some things are very eccentric but quite funky and cool. The more upscale of the boutique. The opposite side is where you find more of the souvenir and kids items as well as all the sweets and toys. There's also a cute little secret garden behind the property. Of course we happened to walk in while they were setting up for a wedding. It's nothing too crazy but a cute garden area with beautiful plants and colorful bold choices of colors growing. Of course the main focal piece, the cute lake right in the middle. Most wedding will take place near it. If you haven't been here, it's worth a stop and wander through. Grab a meal at the cafe if you fancy a more elegant night, dinner in the main pink room. If you get a chance to stay at the property, the many funky rooms to choose from. It's a cute and fun place that's a staples in California. Everyone knows about the Madonna Inn. Love it. Guess I'll need to make another weekend trip here to utilize the hotel again as it's been way too long.

I would LOVE to send my out-of-town visitors here on recommendation, but don't feel like I want to be embarrassed in that way. The food is not good. Last time I went, I stared for about 20 minutes at the menu looking for *anything* i wanted to eat. I'm not a big meateater, and I realize it's a steakhouse, but every other good steakhouse I've been to has absolutely amazing ALL the other options, veggie sides, veggie options, variety of seafood. Madonna *could* do this, so why do they continue choosing not to. I settles on a portabello mushroom. I didn't like it. I just connected with a friend on Facebook who said it perfectly: "It was SO BAD when I was there. Soggy portabella mushrooms stuffed with unflavored bread and supposedly herbs but I doubt it based on the flavor profile, limp steamed vegetables, and unflavored polenta cakes. Not even salted. Seriously dog food." And I realized this was my exact experience, and it's prompting me to write this review. You don't have to be vegetarian to like veggies. DO BETTER Madonna.
