Stay away from this hospital! You will be treated horribly by the staff here. I honestly can't…read morebelieve this is allowed to go on in a hospital. The doctors don't seem to care if the reason your there is taken care of or not. They couldn't care less. Whoever oversees this hospital need to take notice and change how the hospital is run. Because it's really sad and unbelieveable they way it is now. If you do decide to use this hospital don't expect much in the way of care then they send you an outrageous bill with made up charges. When you call the billing department to discuss the charges, you will be told, it is what it is, there's nothing they can do about it. Oh, and that they can charge whatever they want for services rendered. So how would you like to pay?

They gave us a lot of different reasons why they would not give us one. And they told us to go ahead and get The infusion without Insurance approval because insurance would most likely approve it. It took us a little over a week and probably fifteen phone calls before we were finally able to force them to give us a good faith estimate. We contacted Wells spans office of patient and family experience. They never returned our call, never talked to us.And just sent us the letter saying that they had talked to other people in the hospital and that everything was good.

TLDR-They let my dad die over gross negligence…read more My dad, a veteran, visited Wellspan Chambersburg in March of 2026 after I insisted that he go in, as he exhibited all the classic signs of infection that I was concerned would progress to a bone infection (osteomyelitis). He was an uncontrolled diabetic with an A1C greater than 10, had an open wound on his foot that wouldn't heal, which was turning black, doubled in size over a few days, and he had pain that was greater than what that small wound would account for. My father's wife had also recently left him, and he wasn't taking care of himself, so he had an odor, which I believe contributed to Wellspan's ED blowing him off. When he arrived at Wellspan, they did an X-ray of his foot without doing an infection workup (which is the height of incompetence, diabetic foot wound 101). They looked at the image and told him to go home because he had a broken toe (osteomyelitis presents as a fracture on X-ray; you CANNOT differentiate the two with plain film). He went home, 10 days later, he was found dead in his home, with a completely black and necrotic toe. Anybody want to guess the cause, because for some reason Wellspan couldn't figure it out. I am not local, but was able to diagnose him over the phone without having access to any further diagnostic workup. Wellspan is fortunate that I am not litigious in nature, but as an acute care nurse practitioner myself, I am astounded by Wellspan ED's failure in a basic and straightforward diagnosis that led to a man's death.

After waiting at least 30 minutes just to be seen, the staff dismissed my concerns and attributed my lower stomach & groin pains to indigestion or heartburn. They brushed it off like it was nothing serious. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The wait times for walk-ins need major improvement, and the triage process failed to recognize a genuine emergency. This delay and misdiagnosis could have led to much worse outcomes. Someone should really report this to the Department of Health, and if not I will; People seek medical advice/care and still get no answers.
