It sounded like I had snow tires on, which I don't. Besides that, I'd been hearing a nagging mystery noise that intermittently seemed to be coming from the back at highway speed. I wanted to get it checked before driving back to NYC. I have family in Wells who recommended Pine State as they have good reputation with the locals. Brought it in and Mike checked the front end and found that there was nothing amiss there but the left rear wheel bearing needed to be replaced. I have not been to this place in probably 5 years. I always worked on my car its never been to…read moreanother mechanic. They did several jobs for me on a car when I was sick. I had several issues with the repairs. In one repair they fixed a bumper support to get the bumper support off rather then dropping the exhaust they bent and pried and broke the hanger on the exhaust. I ended up fixing this myself about a month later as the muffler had a lifetime warranty. Recently I pulled the front suspension apart they used a regular nut! on the tie rod ends rather then a castle nut no way this could have been torqued properly. They also used a replacement screw to hold on a brake dust shield that in itself is fine but the screw they used had a square thread rather then phillips like the rest no way this was ever going to come off again with a square head. Never have seen someone use something like this before they are construction screws. I will say this Wayne seems pretty honest I was there once and he was on the phone telling someone he didnt want to work on a their car anymore because he felt the car was rotted out and didnt want to bill them for a car that was going to die very soon.

Bruce Ordway, Phil's owner, stated the ATF was filthy and recommended changing it again at 25K miles. This was concerning because it had only been 30K miles since Swedish Imports claimed they flushed and refilled the ATF ?! Makes one wonder if Swedish Imports even did the work they charged for! The Volvo manual states the ATF is "lifetime"! This is a blatant fallacy! Be wary as ATF should be changed every 30 to 60K miles.
