Consider this a public service announcement - if you ever happen to find yourself in Ayr, with a craving for fish and chips, standing outside this place. RUN AWAY. Run far away.
This is a review for the takeaway, not the restaurant bit, a woeful place if ever I saw one. Typical fish and chip shop at first glance, till you experience the staff. Two belligerent, eye-rolling, ignorant teenage girls.* Not only were they taking everyone's orders incorrectly but they were so rude about it. When one customer asked why the server had a massive 'tude, she wiped her nose and said it was because she was sick.
Uhh, excuse me, can someone get the health inspector on line 1?
So she was coughing, wiping her nose, taking cash payments and then wrapping the fish and chips with her bare hands. Touching ALL the food. I nearly died myself.
But it wasn't only the overwhelming sanitary issues, but the sheer disorganisation of the place. They served everyone who came in after us before us. We waited so long that my order was just sitting under the heat lamp for 20 minutes waiting for the rest of the food to be cooked.
Another lady who came in after us, way after, demanded her money back. So I followed suit. And then nearly lost my shit London style on them. This place is so awful.
* And I had been thinking earlier in the day how lovely all the Scottish wait staff were in another establishment. read more
