Consistency is a serious problem at this restaurant, as the prices are on the high side you expect better from their brigade and from restaurant to resturant owned by the Buzzworks Group standards vary considerably.
Outside of the specials and supper menu expect a large bill, it depends what you are looking for from your experience as better food is available for less money in some of the hotels nearby but then you don't get that 'resort' convenience of a loud vibrant arena, although it can be too loud at weekends, with a bar in house and extensive drinks choice from well trained staff not silver service but they are attentive. If you are looking for a quiet romantic meal best avoided, on a budget best avoided unless you visit early evening and point to note that there is no real competitor in at this level in Ayrshire and what there is be owned by the same people.
Opinion, the creators were good (are good) and what they do but are spread too thinly today to maintain standards and have lost sight of their audience. It is cheaper to travel by train from Ayrshire and dine out in a restaurant competing with neighbours in the City and get a taxi back for four, cheap hotel or last train BUT then you have the travel hassle. It was actually commented that Ryanair flights to London and a night out could cost the same as Elliots on a night - it actually works out fairly even but you're in London which isn't Kansas any more.
I have had good and bad experiences here having dined many times, standards of cooking have dropped for sure since opening but are still good and will be relished by the majority of Ayrshire locals whom let's face it are not as experienced nor well travelled shall we say as they profess to be oh I ken I ken as one famous Scot's comedian was famous for saying BUT as the restaurant is playing to the masses their commercial decision is perfectly understandable. The bar was aimed at a 'better class' and that is a quote from management via pricing and dress code when it first started trading, no sports will be shown and no caps etc - sad to say those days are long gone and there are many niche groups whom have a wee favourite place to sit on a particular day, if you get in the way of the yokels expect to be stared down at from a discounted glass of champagne being held by a peroxide mid-thirty thrifty MILF clasping the glass like a cheap cider by the body of the glass rather than the stem. They are a class of their own
All in all it's a Place To Be Seen if you have a confidence problem, any food or drink not on the specials will cost you dearly and you can never be sure if the meal you had last time will be the same this time, even although it should be and in Prestwick you have little other choice than visit here, stay in or travel a distance which has downsides. If you do not like crowds or noise though definately avoid at weekend as they pack them in like sardines in the bars.
You decide, my preference is to travel to Glasgow for diversity and style for similar or less outlay read more
