So I win best daughter award for introducing this place to my family. I took a trip down to Scott's for my dads 60th birthday and it did not disappoint. First up we were 30 mins early for our booking and when we arrive it was very busy, I was expecting to wait. We made our way to the bar however within 5 mins we got our table! Down to the best bit!! I had to start the Haggis Neeps and Tatties, just amazing!! For mains I had the stuffed chicken with chorizo and cream cheese! This was full of flavor and the chicken wasn't the slightest bit dry! We took along a birthday cake the staff happily brought it out with a massive sparkler on it! Served up with some Matthew Algie Coffee. The location if Scott's is cool, it sits on the Yacht Haven of Troon and the atmosphere is very relaxed. I really like it here!!

5 star food, service and location. We made our way down to Troon on Saturday for my father in laws 60th birthday lunch and we had a fantastic meal. The location is excellent with great views of all the boats docked at the marina. The service was some of the most friendly and welcoming that I have experienced in a long time. On the drinks front they had a good selection of beers such as Arran blonde bottles and Bitter and Twisted on draught. Coffee wise they have Matthew Algie as their supplier. On to the food, for starters I had Cullen skink and it was really good. It was served in a pan with bread and butter on the side and the great presentation really added something extra to a lovely tasting soup. For mains I had the fish stew which was a huge portion that again was served with bread. It had mussels, salmon, squid, prawns and mackerel in it. For dessert they brought out the birthday cake that we had brought, but they added a huge sparkler to it which was a great touch. This place is a bit out of Glasgow, but for a special occasion I would really recommend it . The service was excellent and the food was awesome. Perfect for a special family dinner or if you fancy venturing out of Glasgow in a trip to the seaside.

Nice place divided in different areas, bar, restaurant, restaurant in the terrace. The restaurant is located in front of Troon marina. If you eat on the terrace you could have a lovely view on the boats. Local beers and ales in the restaurant with a good variety of dishes (local as well as international). 25% discount on steaks every Tuesday. Ideal for groso. Booking is strongly advised. Consistently good cocktails and food. I've never had any complaints about Scotts and the view over Troon Harbour is amazing. Tables in the bar on the covered porch are just as good as the restaurant and has the exact same menu. The view itself is reason enough to take visitors but the food won't disappoint either.

Scotts restaurant is in a nice location overlooking Troon yacht haven. There are several different areas, and the pricing is a little dear but the food is good so justifiable. I decided to try the early-evening (5-6:30pm Sun-Fri, 5-6pm Sat) special offer of 2 selected courses from £9.95 . I had pan fried garlic mushrooms with white wine cream, bacon, cheese glaze followed by pan fried breast of chicken with traditional haggis, red wine jus and some vegetables: both were very good. The evening menu can be quite a lot more expensive with starters £5-13 and mains £11-30 per head. Be warned several times I've found that other diner's choice to bring their children tends to spoil the atmosphere: more like a crèche than a restaurant, so if that annoys you the I suggest you book a table in the restaurant and perhaps eat later. The best food I've met in Troon, with a great location and plenty of parking nearby: recommended

Peter's Seafood & Grill

East Kilbride

I'm so surprised to see hardly any reviews for Peters Seafood as I think it's a wee gem!! Having…read moreonly recently dipped my toes into the world of Seafood I tentatively booked dinner at Peters a few months ago for their Pre-Theatre menu. A set menu with 3 courses at £14.50, this is excellent value for the quality of food you get in a tiny restaurant. The place is family run, by Peter himself and his wife I'm sure. They really couldn't do enough for us when we visited. The starters on the menu on our visit (it changes) were the usual suspects in a Seafood restaurant, prawn cocktail, crab cakes, calamari etc. They also had Chicken Empanadas, which I tried, given that I'm new to fish I didn't want 2 courses!! The empanadas were crispy and flavoursome & came with a chilli dipping sauce. A perfect sized portion for a starter. Martyn went with the Prawn cocktail and, as you'd expect in a seafood restaurant, it was totally delicious with juicy prawns and a tangy Marie Rose sauce. I spoke with the waitress before ordering my main and explained that I was new to seafood and unsure about what fish to start with. She suggested the Seabass as it has a mild flavour and a meaty texture. I'm sooo glad I took her advice!! The fish was perfectly cooked with crispy skin and melting flesh, such a delicate flavour and not fishy whatsoever. It was served with wilted spinach and a lemon oil and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It really opened my eyes to the fact that fish doesn't necessarily have that fishy taste I expected it to have. We weren't going to bother with puddings, it was a beautiful sunny night and we both fancied a walk & an Ice cream along Troon beach. However when clearing our plates the Waitress uttered 2 completely delectable words.....'Homemade Profiteroles'. This well and truly sealed the pudding deal and 2 plates swiftly arrived at our table. They were incredibly light with crispy yet airy Choux pastry and filled with delicious vanilla cream. The chocolate on top was the kind that makes u want to lick your plate (and I almost did). Overall an excellent meal in a lovely atmosphere for a great price. I often recommend it to visitors of East Kilbride and I can't wait to go back!

This restaurant was recommended highly but felt it lacked a little in intimacy. Food very good but for a seafood restaurant could have offered a bit more Variety of fish. A few days before our visit, I emailed the restaurant to book a table and to request a vegan option, as this is predominantly a seafood restaurant and booking in advance is a must, due to its popularity among locals and those who make a special trip to enjoy their locally sourced ingredients. I was assured that the chef would ensure there would be a vegan option available for me, so I was stunned when I arrived to find that they had prepared a vegan menu for me, with a choice of three starters and three mains, any of which would have suited me perfectly. After a lot of deliberation over the amazing offerings, I went for oyster mushrooms in garlic and parsley olive oil, followed by tomato and pimento risotto, with spinach and rocket, then finished off with coffee and mints. This is fine dining at its absolute best and everything was so delicately crafted and perfectly flavoured in a way I have never experienced before. My boyfriend loves seafood and he adores this place, always opting for the seafood platter, which is a mountain of weird and wonderful seafood, which he assures me is delicious. The fish couldn't be any fresher as it's caught right outside the door and everything is sourced locally so that the ingredients are of the highest quality. Campbell's is the nicest restaurant I've ever been in, due to its superior food, staff who make you feel like royalty and perfectly laid tables with hand-crafted cutlery and napkins folded to perfection. It really is a cut above the rest in the area and well worth a journey to Portpatrick.

Now this is the place to eat in portpatrick plenty of choice and great fresh seafoodread more

So, we realized, for such a small town, to have this many people standing in line, it must be good, so we had to stop. The fish was fresh, the batter - light, flavorful, not greasy - was fantastic, and local potatoes for the chips, it really was great. Since that time, I've moved to the PNW coast in the US, where we have another great "local" F&C shop.

I used to go there when I went to Turnberry for my annual golf pilgrimage to Scotland. It's about a 10 minute drive from the Turnberry hotel along the west coast of Scotland with a great view of Ailsa Craig. The F and C consists of a generous mild and moist filet with a crunchy breading and thick wedge cut fries wrapped in newspaper for take out, for about £5. The newspaper soaks up some grease and absorbs steam which keeps the food from getting soggy during the drive back to my room. I didn't take photos then but you can check their Facebook site for representative photos: https://www.facebook.com/marinegirvan/. This place is a dive in DDD Flavor Town. The F and C are excellent and I wish to repeat again or have them teleported! I haven't found a place in my area yet that compares.
