I had a really positive experience shopping for a three row SUV at Wellesley Mazda, really different from any other car dealership I've been to so far. We worked with Mike Winterson, who was extremely welcoming, understood what we were looking for and steered us to the appropriate configuration of the CX-9 model, and took us on test drives. I also really appreciated that you can access Mazda pricing (and leasing!) prices for new cars online in a transparent way, I've not seen that at any other dealership of any kind. Set an appointment to get the TPS recall completed on my Mazda 6 along with a synthetic oil change. 131 minutes into my oil change they tell me I'm all set but it turns out they forgot to do the TPS recall fix (main reason why I came in the first place). When I asked about it the service person at the desk denied that I spoke to her about it when I checked in. It was the person sitting behind her that fessed up and said she heard me confirm with the service person that they would do both the oil change and TPS recall fix. $75 for a synthetic oil change is reasonable but waiting over 2 hours is not. This is why I spend $85 and get a 15 minute oil change at Valvoline. I'm surprised these places are still in business. Wouldn't recommend coming here for service. This will be first and last time. read more

No wonder Mazda is having trouble selling cars, with dealerships like Wellesley Mazda. Background: I've been looking for Miatas (NB or ND with a limited slip differential, preferably Torsen which means going with the older NB), having given up on finding a decent Honda S2000 to use on the weekends. I've been very tactical as I know what I want, and why I want it. Wellesley had a 2000 Miata SE (which should have the LSD). The first appointment was cancelled by the dealership because the car wasn't available and they expect it to be back for a week. huh. A week later I came back, having made an appointment to test drive the 2000 as well as a 2017 Miata club (an ND, also with the LSD but not Torsen. I showed up for the test drive, having confirmed that I would be there, on the phone, in my muscle car, trapped in traffic on the way. So it turns out there's been a mix up and the sales woman, Alex (although I could have sworn I was texting with someone by another name earlier), has another customer also showing up at 1pm. After asking me whether I was paying in cash or financing upfront, she gave me the keys and showed me the route (on a post it note) that I would take by myself. The car wasn't in great shape. The driver's seat was torn up and the back was actually crooked (which really makes me wonder if it would pass a state inspection). The clutch had also seen better days. Having driven other NB Miatas, something just didn't feel right handling-wise. I returned to the dealership, courtesy of Google Maps, and said I wasn't interested. The car had seen its better days. Her reaction? Something to the effect of, "well, as you know, this is an older car and the cheapest in the country, which is probably why you're interested." Wow. It would have taken a few seconds to know why I wanted the car but instead of ASKING, she ignorantly ASSUMED who knows what, that somehow involved a low price and financing (which she said I would have trouble getting). Needless to say I wasn't interested in the 2017 or much of anything else and wanted me, and my 2018 daily driver, out of there ASAP. And for giggles I just checked and the cheapest Miata in the country is a 1996 base Miata (NA) in Cleveland, OH for $1,495 (with 202,388 miles). Base doesn't have the Torsen LSD. read more

I just had an awful experience at Wellesley Mazda and it motivated me to write this review. I brought my vehicle there to get an estimate on a minor repair. I had dropped it off for them to look at and came back later, only to find that my car had been hit on the front bumper while it was in their parking lot. What made it even more unbelievable was the fact that I had just replaced that front bumper and had it fully repainted to blend with the rest of my car. Needless to say I was shocked and very disappointed. I was told that they would look at security cameras to see how it occurred and they would remedy it. I received a video the next day showing me that they were able to buff out the other vehicle's paint on my vehicle. When I came in to inspect it, I noticed that the majority of the other car's paint had been removed from mine, but there was still minor damage still remaining on my very new and just painted front bumper. When I came in to grab the key, The person who handed me my keys didn't acknowledge what had happened and there was no apology for the incident that occurred while the car was in their care. I am just too traumatized to think about going back there and entrusting them with my vehicle again. I hope others will have a better experience. read more

They started off at the dealership saying "we do things differently" and that the customer produce specialist do Not make commission. Ok cool. Yet when I had specific questions you didn't have answers and pretty much served as a middle person to burn our time and speak to the manager. Due to low inventory there was a shortage of cars and they avoided telling me if the car I wanted existed at a partnering dealership. It was at the point I was going to leave where they shared that they did know of one that existed. However for hours they were trying to scare us that we would not get the car we wanted and trying to push a car on their lot. Also the product specialist person apparently didn't know the horse power of certain models we were interested in - which really it was hey I don't want to give you details on cars we don't have. He also called on his manager who was confusing and shared useless facts about how we wouldn't get the car we wanted until the fall. Literally the next day I drove to quirk Mazda in Quincy got the exact car I wanted for the price I wanted in a fraction of the time!!! Not all dealerships are created equally and although the dealership from the inside is nice they don't offer a great experience. I liked how the manager also said she used to work at Mercedes and their customers pay a 15% mark up. I have never had a worse experience than I have at Wellesley Mazda. I could probably list 20 things that they have done that is completely frustrating and would make you want to turn right out the door. First of all, they sold me a used Subaru that didn't start properly and I was in and out of their repair shop 4 times within the first 3 months of buying the car. They ultimately couldn't figure out how to fix the problem, so they bought my car back from me. When I went to purchase another car from them with my full price trade in value, they didn't have any cars that were equal price and quality as the car I had initially purchased and so I was forced to go with a leasing option, which I didn't want to do. It took 2 visits and about 5 hours of my time to get them to lower the price of the leased car for all my troubles with the previous car. Finally when I went to sign paperwork and trade in the car, they had me waiting for over 30 minutes and they hadn't even called the insurance agency yet to get everything switched over (I know this for a fact because my friend is my agent). They are slow, inefficient, and extremely frustrating to work with. Sales guys are nice, but I would steer clear of this place if I could. read more

I had a terrible experience with this team. Overall, they are dishonest and mean. They said the remaining lease payments would be waived if I turned in early for a new one. Now they are saying that when Mazda sells my old vehicle they may refund me the payments depending on several factors. The payments are not being waived. I was upset about this and told them to stick to their deal. The GM shouted "You wanna yell at us, we yell right back at you! That's the way it works around here!" He then laughed and said "You just lost your last chance to get that money!" And he hung up on me. DO NOT trust these people. I ended up having to make payments on two vehicles- the one I turned in and the new one and I am really mad about it! read more

I normally do not write reviews for anything unless there is something that was such a negative experience I feel that I have to. I think most reviews can be biased in that way. It doesn't help that if you're satisfied with a product you generally do not feel the need to write a positive review, instead you just enjoy what you buy and move on. Well I think that this is a different case and deserves some of my time. I had called Wellesley Mazda inquiring about some used cars to see if they were still on the lot. Michaela was the first person to answer and help me out. I expressed that I would need some time and she was very empathetic about my situation. A couple days later she called back asking if there was anything else I was wondering about I could call and she would find out for me. I appreciated that she was not trying to sell me a car that I did want to buy but instead was helping me come to a decision about what I wanted and would do her best to help me find that. I had then scheduled a meeting to test drive and meet Michaela in person. The driving experience was fantastic and every question I had was answered with confidence. I think that there was a great balance of information that was being given to me and I was not being sold on small gimmicks. After the drive, we sat back down to talk about models and when I expressed that I was not interested in the original models I looked at Michaela asked me what I wanted in a car so that she could help narrow some options for me. Once we had the exact car in mind we moved to negotiations. I will not go into the exact process here since I think that will put certain expectations in people's minds and it's different with every person. However I will say that Michaela and Rodrigo treated my very well and with respect. I was confident that this was going to be the best offer in the area as it was a very competitive price even for my own expectations. However I wanted to check other dealers in the area just to make sure I investigated all of my options. I had chatted with other dealers and my confidence was well placed. No one was able to match the offer that Michaela and Rodrigo were able to give me. So I came back to the Wellesley Mazda saying that I would take the offer. After that, the transaction process was very quick and even when I thought about leasing at the last moment Michaela was very agile and hospitable in getting me new quotes. Once the deal was made I waited only a couple of days for the vehicle to be prepared. I presented my final check and I was shown my new car. During the whole process I was treated very well. The overview of features and the answering of any questions I had was helpful and thorough. Whereas in other dealerships I felt that I was rushed to purchase a vehicle and that I was merely being used. However that was not the experience with Michaela as she made sure that the send off experience was warm and I felt that I had truly made a friend that day. Another experience I'd like to highlight is when I came back to the dealership after a couple days. I had ran over a twig on the side of the highway. This caused some damage to the wheel well. I contacted Michaela first since she assured me that she would always be there if I needed anything. She put me in contact with the service department and when I came in that day she was there to greet me. We chatted and caught up which only supplements the fact that she truly cares about the clients who come through this dealership and wants to maintain a good relationship. The service department was very knowledgeable and fixed it for free on the spot. This just goes to show how friendly the entire dealership actually is. In conclusion Michaela is an all around fantastic person to interact with who will put you at ease with your shopping experience. However this does not mean taking advantage of her hospitality. If you treat her with respect she will give that to you in greater quantities, if not equal. I would highly recommend her to anyone I know looking to buy a Mazda in the future. read more

The parts department has a pretty impressive inventory, and their service department hasn't charged me for any service that was not performed satisfactorily. Oil change, provided you supply you own oil and filter, is very reasonably priced, but they don't do any in-house detailing, so instead they give you a voucher for a free basic exterior wash at Scrub-a-dub, an average quality automatic car wash in the neighboring town. I purchased an extended warranty package through their finance department, which was an excellent deal. I have not yet had to use this warranty, but I am optimistic that they will act in good faith when I do. read more

A nightmare! Sat down with salesman Carlos and told him I already drove the Mazda I wanted so all I need to know is pricing on a lease or full purchase. He had a speal that was robot like not answering any of my questions. But he did say; "am I going to get this sale done today". How about answering my questions first! He called a rude manager to the table when I asked what was the hourly service rate. Why did it take a manager to answer that, and while leaning forward out of his chair towards me, trying to intimidating me,he wouldn't tell me eitherLet's gang up on a woman all by herself why don't you! I've been going to Wellesley Mazda to get my car serviced for a while now and have been satisfied with their work and prices. That said, what I'm most impressed with is how they've been operating during COVID. By doing things like making hand sanitizer available, marking out social distancing, wearing masks, and spraying down surfaces after going in your car, it's clear they're taking the health of their customers and employees seriously and that means a lot. The customer service given by Henry was actually good, and I would probably be one of the happy customers giving 5 stars now, BUT. But then we had a problem. Due to some problems with my previous lease return, which became rather costly, I tried to cancel my freshly signed lease with Mazda Wellesley, two days after signing, while still not in a possession of the car. I was fully aware that it is not the dealership's fault, and I made sure to mention it several times. Well, Henry did not return my calls and did not respond to my email. Then I tried to talk to Rodrigo, which did not want to deal with me as well, apparently, since he promised to call back and did not. Instead I got a call from the GM Darren. Darren made it very clear to me that dealership is not going to back of the deal, and I should just suck it up. He did not offer a compromise, he did not name a sum of money for me to pay to step down, and his answer was basically - sue me. And I really did not like the tone of his voice too. Legally, he was right. This is not their fault that I want off the deal, and I was very clear about it. Talking about customer service though - I saw no intention whatsoever to find a compromise, and I know for sure it was by their choice and not because they are going to lose a lot of money on this returned car (which I did not even physically take), as Darren claimed. I even proposed to leave him my deposit I paid and was declined on the spot. Well, I am by no means a big dealership shark, but I am a small business owner too, and I work with people all the time. I know for sure - if the person wants to cancel the deal and asks nicely, before he even gets the service- he should be given this option. This is how good customer service looks like. And Mazda Wellesley demonstrated to me that, as soon as you have a problem, there is absolutely nobody to talk to. So, before going there, take that into consideration. read more

I went to Wellesley Mazda in response to a factory recall of the entertainment screen. The first time I went, they did not replace the screen but did a software update. It helped, but did not fix the problem. I then called to schedule an appointment to replace the screen. When I showed up (30 minute drive each way) they said,"oops, we don't have the part". They called me a few weeks later to say the part was in. When I went to my scheduled appointment, they said, "oops, the replacement part was recalled- we didn't have you in our records so didn't call you". Bottom line- I made three trips (3 hours in total) and they still haven't fixed the problem. It is inexcusable to twice have me come there only to find out they did not have the part- after THEY scheduled the appointment! I am a really patient person. I literally dd not get angry the first time I drove 30 minutes there only to find they did not have the part. But having that happen twice?? Cannot believe how incredibly incompetent they are. BTW- I sent them an email through their website complaining abut this. 4 days later they still haven't responded. read more

I understand businesses need to make money but if you make your customer happy they will come back time and time again and that is how you make money. I feel I was ripped off. I was lied too. Michael did not pressure me in any way to make my purchase, but was responsive to every question and request I made before deciding to go forward with the new car purchase. Used Cars - Low price (they claim) for low quality I bought a Toyota Tacoma manual from them. I was not sure about the clutch, I was about to walk away. They had the service department look at it. "It's all good". I have had 2 (not one, two) Toyota dealership look at it, both with the same conclusion: MUST be replaced. At the cost of the clutch to their "low" price, and you are on the very high side for the market. You draw your conclusions. read more

I had a great no-pressure experience buying a new Mazda CX-30. Salesperson Chace Bonanno was very helpful in expediting the sale after my previous vehicle as totaled in a flood and so I needed something in a hurry in a time of limited inventory everywhere. I was able to pick up my new car within 24 hours of walking into the dealership! Chace was very knowledgeable about different models and packages. This was by far the best new car buying experience I've had. I think this is due to a combination of Chace's genuine helpfulness, and the fact that he's salaried rather than lives off commissions.
