You have to keep checking on your prescription because they rarely get back to you or they come up with a story about waiting for your Doctor to get back to them. When you ask your Doctor they tell you that the pharmacy never called. This place should be shut down. They don't care about anyone but themselves. Rude ignorant people.

After about 5 minutes of this nonsense, I said "Forget it, call me when it's ready". Although one of the pharmacists took the time to do it over again, I do not think I will be using this pharmacy again. This is a pattern where they notify you that a prescription is ready and then it isn't. Don't waste your time there.

I needed to get medication for my son -which had to be compounded (instead of pill form - it needed to be in a liquid) and after going around to a number of local pharmacies in the area, CVS, Giant, Safeway even Wegman's no one was able to help. I was told about Whitesells by a friend where I worked with Rebecca and Danielle. These two have been... in a word - Fantastic! Rebecca who does the compounding, is extremely knowledgable about the process, provided me with and excellent education and has been a joy to work with. Danielle is also tremendously nice and helpful which makes the entire experience less stressful. They handle the insurance issues, call you back when they say they are which is important, at least to me. They also have a great medical supply area and just as helpful and professional. Kathy Curran was so thorough helping me navigate through insurance issues and went the extra mile to help. Bottom-Line - I don't even live in the Frederick Area, however, I drive up there in rush-hour 270 traffic to use there services. Could I go somewhere else? Sure, but when you are dealing with prescriptions and medications and other sensitive things, trust and knowledge is important (which they have demonstrated) and at the end of the day just because of something may be more convenient, doesn't make it better.

You can sit at the soda fountain, or grab one of the three or four booths and have a simple sandwich and dessert. Sandwiches include for example BLT, hot dog, grilled cheese, tuna salad, egg salad, chicken salad, turkey cold cut, ham, and other things your Mom might have made. The only soup option is "Campbell's Tomato." Check the web site...you will see pictures showing the soda fountain seating is green vinyl and the tables and countertops are Formica. In the back there is a real wooden public phone booth (ready for Clark Kent to do his thing). But you have to pay more than a dime for a phone call (that and the phone equipment is about all that has changed). Wife and I came by to try out the desserts. Since we're new to Martinsburg, I had to ask what the "Jo Jo" Sundae was (their house specialty), and it's French Vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, peanut butter syrup, and marshmallow. YUM. Wife had the root beer float. You can get regular and malted milk shakes. They had a number of items that you won't find anywhere else. Once we went to CVS to get one of those rubber red hot water bottles, which we wanted to use for muscle pain relief, and the fellow at CVS was young and he really was clueless about what we wanted. CVS didn't carry it, but Patterson's has those (at least two styles) and other things you won't find anywhere else. The counter lady said they try to get the "old things" whenever they can find them for their customers. Up front there is a display case for perfumes, colognes, and other "gift" items. On the counter in the back, I saw at least four large spools of gift wrap ribbon. Now, where else can you get a gift wrapped! (I suppose Macy's during the holiday season and that's about it these days). Patterson's also had a large display of fancy chocolates (we're coming up to Valentines Day) and Hallmark cards. Patterson's takes pride that you don't have to wait long to have your prescriptions filled, and they advertise that they take all major insurance, including federal employee health plan insurance (which applies to me). This place is a classic. Check it out.

She made certain to have all…read morethe information readily available prior to having the prescription electronically sent, as the medication is quite a delicate one. From the beginning, she felt they were very prejudicial about it, even saying "the insurance needed preauthorization" for a medication she had been taking for over a dozen years. When she called to ask what the issue was, they ran it again and it was just fine. Today, they called to say they couldn't fill the medication because the prescriber wasn't in the immediate area and they could only fill those from the immediate area. Mind you, they've filled it several times but they just "couldn't believe it hadn't been flagged before". It's from less than 3 hours away and insurance is perfectly fine-filled perfectly on time. Then it was a "Good luck finding another pharmacy!" This has been a terrible experience for my wife, who had been so happy to have the ease of a hometown pharmacy. I would suggest you avoid this pharmacy if you aren't a local or have a medication they may not agree with (Even if they don't know why you take it or your health history). It often concerns me that pharmacists have the power to make medical decisions that should be between a patient and their physician. I understand abuse of medications happens, but utilizing common sense happens, as well.
