This is the only place I will get my meat from. They have an actual butcher on-site to specialty cut for you. The manager there is great his name is Dean and he has always done a great job for me with any special orders I have. The deli isn't to be forgotten either and their fried chicken gives everyone a run for their money especially KFC in Gettysburg. Try their chicken and I guarantee you'll be back. Also you have a special occasion Kennies to the rescue with sandwich trays or even the big sub that u get for football season. Kennies has u covered. The best bakery I've found . They make these huge cookies that are to die for! The molasses cookies are my absolute favorite. I love and support small businesses. I love Kennies. This particular Kennies in Littlestown is off my list of places to shop! Why? I waited patiently in line at the deli. There were 5 deli clerks behind the counter of which one was helping a customer. No one made eye contact. No one asked if I had been helped. Finally the more senior clerk came to help and took another customer who had literally just walked up. Arg!!! I left in disgust. Looked for the other items on my list and most were not available. On the way to the register I asked for the store manager and let him know my disappointment in the deli lack of customer service. I saw signs everywhere about customer service but when it comes down to it they don't get it. To his credit, Jeremy the mgr immediately apologized, said the deli was understaffed and that he had given direction to let him know if a line formed. He offered to go get my order personally but at that point i wanted nothing else to do with this store. I left, drove to the Gettysburg Kennies and had a much more pleasant experience! This is a great grocery store. Everyone is really nice!! They actually seem happy to work here. Is it because it's an employee owned store? Is it because their hiring practice is "we just don't take everyone that applies"? I have no idea but it's great. The prices are good. Lots of selections and most are locally sourced which I love. Their meat and seafood counter looked outstanding! So if you're wondering about shopping here please give them a try. I really like Kennie's market! For a smaller grocery store, they have a great variety compared to larger chains. I like Giant, because it's wide availability of products, produce, and ethnic products. But after coming to Kennie's, I am impressed with their selection! I've never had an item on my list that I couldn't find at Kennie's. Produce is always fresh. And the cashiers are nice and efficient! read more

We're lucky enough to have a Kennie's in MD as the rest are located in south-central PA. I think that the Taneytown Kennie's has the best service of the three closest to me (Gettysburg and Littlestown being the other two), and you cannot beat their deli. I usually avoid so-called salads and other pre-made foods from any supermarket deli, but Kennie's makes quite a few of their own salads in-house. What they make is delicious, even though they could do without so much sugar in some of them (the Amish baked beans are too sweet IMO). Lots of friendly, helpful employees. Great meat dept-- very fresh-- and-- believe it or not, at 45 miles inland-- terrific seafood dept. They also use local sources at times, like cider from Baughers Orchards. Years ago they had some better choices in groceries, like the Taste of Thai brand, and I had to start going across the street to Food Lion to purchase my Thai Peanut Noodles, as well as other 'ethnic' and gluten-free food choices. They ditched a bunch of my favorite brands when they jumped on the IGA bandwagon. I'm not a fan of IGA-brand processed food (or processed food in general), but for fresh food selection along the store's perimeter, Kennie's is top shelf. (No pun intended.) read more

Nice small chain of markets in rural Maryland. Quality and cleanliness were good. We ordered four sandwiches at the deli counter. Good God it took probably half an hour to get these made. I don't think they're accustomed to taking sandwich orders. I still give five stars because everybody was ridiculously friendly. Just make sure you call ahead if you want sandwiches. read more

I understand that "things are different now," but to not even welcome a customer in line is a bit disheartening for a business that prides itself in customer service. The clerk at the CS counter simply told me I was in the wrong place for a specific service and dismissed me after. Then when checking out, the cashier just asked for my Kennies card...that was it. No "hi" or any signs of hospitality. I worked here back in the day and know what the expectations are...looks like they've gone down hill. This store continues to disappoint. Fresh fruits and vegetables are terrible, selection is bad, even before Covid and trying to check out will take forever. Unfortunately this is the only store in town. If you have time to go somewhere else it will be worth your while. read more

Where to begin? The store is dingy and the produce looks old... there wasn't one celery stalk that wasn't soft and bendy. And the fruit had spots on it. The deli counter was disgusting! Who's idea is it to pre cut the meat and cheese? The cheese I got was hard and crusty, same with the meats. Also the ham lacked proper coloring. It's repugnant to have a display case that goes untouched for hours at a time. Do these managers not know that fluorescent lighting sucks the color out of the meats? Next stop. When it came to seafood I had to wait infront of the counter to see a person for nearly 5 minutes. Afterwards I walked over to the subpar deli to ask them if anyone was even working in seafood today. They claimed to radio a person who was "on the way" 5 minutes later someone finally showed up clearly did not work in that department as they could not answer any of my basic questions. And the general stock of their selection is laughable at best. Most everything I had on my list when coming to kennies was either out of stock or marked up to ridiculous price gouging rates. I think from now on I'll take my business to food lion. The employees there might not be as friendly. But at least I can buy groceries for me, my wife, and children without breaking the bank for subpar products read more

For the past 2 days I had to return food that was not good. I went grocery shopping on Monday. On Tuesday evening, I had to return rotten potatoes in a box that you steam. Then Wednesday evening, I had to return stuffed flounder. When I got my eggs, there were dried broken eggs on the rack in cooler. Kinda gross. I have never had a problem with their food before. So has something changed?? Both times I got my money back. And the clerk said they were sorry. But It is just frustrating when you plan a meal and you open it and it smells rotten.
