I was walking around downtown Gettysburg and not too much of the dining options seemed to grab my attention. Instead, I decided to just go to this 7-Eleven. The parking lot at this 7-Eleven was fairly small, but I parked in downtown Gettysburg, so parking was not a problem for me. The options at this 7-Eleven were fairly limited compared to some options you might see at the local Sheetz. For example, there was no sparking water and the closest option was club soda. I also got a bottle of water. Similarly, there were not a ton of snack options. There were some nuts, crackers and candy, but nothing too unique or interesting. The options were limited. Obviously, unlike Sheetz there are no custom made options. I just picked up a pop-tart because that was a tasty option that they had here and I haven't had one in a couple of years. Altogether, this 7-Eleven is pretty basic in their options, but it's convenient if you're visiting Gettysburg National Military Park and one to get a quick drink or snack.

Perhaps the dumbest thing I've ever seen! DO NOT PARK IN A PARKING GARAGE HERE!!! The borough of…read moreGettysburg is out to make a buck and apparently has ZERO CONCERN for pedestrian safety. I was in town to buy a vehicle and parked downtown after to grab lunch and supported a few local businesses. When i returned to my vehicle I found a violation on my windshield and figured i maybe accidentally parked in a reserved section. But no . . . . It was for backing into the spot. People do this for SAFETY when pulling out of the spot. So much better visibility to see both vehicles and pedestrians . . . especially children. Sure, there's a small sign at the entrance (which they include an image of on the violation as a CYB/CYA since they know this is an underhanded money grab). What a backwards way to target tourists (in a town largely dependent on tourism) and make them feel good about chosing to visit. CONGRATULATIONS to the borough of Gettysburg boneheads who drafted this IDIOCRACY!! I had just spent over $30,000 at your local businesses, but that will NEVER happen again. You'll get your $15, but will never see me again as there are plentiful quaint little historic towns that I will be spending my money at in the future.

I understand the concept of parking meters. Really, I do. The city gets paid. And it is correct…read morethat I did not pay the meter. For some reason, I thought that the time for paying the meter ended at 5:00 PM, but that must have been Chambersburg or some other town. So it is correct that there was a violation here. I find it interesting that the time on the ticket was less than 5 minutes after I'd left the car on the street and gone into the Blue & Gray Bar, but I guess that they're just extra vigilant with their parking violations and revenue generating unit here in Gettysburg. But what pushed me over the edge was the $2.50 "service charge" for the convenience of paying the ticket over the internet. Irritating.
