Thurmonts only major pharmacy, though we do have some smaller private ones. No booze, but a good selection of medical items.

Terrible experience- I have a blood disorder that .1% of the population has, along with Lupus,…read morefibromyalgia and spinal stenosis with spinal cord compression. They went out of their way to find an excuse to not fill my prescription all while lying to me about needing to know my diagnosis in order to fill it.My PCP called and told me the real reason they wouldn't fill it and I went elsewhere . If you want a pharmacy that judges you, doesn't want to fill your medications, lies to you for days that results in prolonging your care, then this is the pharmacy for you. I wanted to change to a less potent prescription and for that reason I discharged myself from a previous Dr that wanted to keep throwing a higher dosage of meds at me without helping my issue, this pharmacy called that Dr and without listening to my PCP on what actually happened , decided that they weren't going to do what they are there for , and fill my prescription. Never in my life , have I experienced this or such judgment from a pharmacist. I only had to attempt to use this old pharmacy, bc CVS was out and recommended them. I made sure to tell them to stop and never recommend this pharmacy to anyone. I did nothing wrong and didn't deserve the treatment I got from here. Angelika didn't used to act this way , but she definitely shouldn't be in this profession if she is going to judge anyone that has chronic , life threatening illnesses that require certain treatments and medications to stay alive and have any quality of life . DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE ANY DIGNITY, because the staff here surly has none. They should work somewhere that isn't with such sensitive information. They absolute disgust me as human beings and have 0 compassion. I hope none of them ever have to be in my position, or in any position to require certain medications that assist with disabling pain , and if they do, I hope someone humbles them and treats them as poorly as they treat their customers . Not everyone abuses their medications Lady. The day this place goes out of business , Thurmont will be a better place .

I asked her not to put as much on mine but as soon as I tasted it, I realized I had made a huge mistake. This is a place that has been frozen in time--since the 1950s. REALLY! Brings back memories of…read morestopping by York's Pharmacy (in Melrose Highlands, Massachusetts) for a 15-cent sundae on the way home from school in the early '60s. You can sit at the soda fountain, or grab one of the three or four booths and have a simple sandwich and dessert. Sandwiches include for example BLT, hot dog, grilled cheese, tuna salad, egg salad, chicken salad, turkey cold cut, ham, and other things your Mom might have made. The only soup option is "Campbell's Tomato." Check the web site...you will see pictures showing the soda fountain seating is green vinyl and the tables and countertops are Formica. In the back there is a real wooden public phone booth (ready for Clark Kent to do his thing). But you have to pay more than a dime for a phone call (that and the phone equipment is about all that has changed). Wife and I came by to try out the desserts. Since we're new to Martinsburg, I had to ask what the "Jo Jo" Sundae was (their house specialty), and it's French Vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, peanut butter syrup, and marshmallow. YUM. Wife had the root beer float. You can get regular and malted milk shakes. They had a number of items that you won't find anywhere else. Once we went to CVS to get one of those rubber red hot water bottles, which we wanted to use for muscle pain relief, and the fellow at CVS was young and he really was clueless about what we wanted. CVS didn't carry it, but Patterson's has those (at least two styles) and other things you won't find anywhere else. The counter lady said they try to get the "old things" whenever they can find them for their customers. Up front there is a display case for perfumes, colognes, and other "gift" items. On the counter in the back, I saw at least four large spools of gift wrap ribbon. Now, where else can you get a gift wrapped! (I suppose Macy's during the holiday season and that's about it these days). Patterson's also had a large display of fancy chocolates (we're coming up to Valentines Day) and Hallmark cards. Patterson's takes pride that you don't have to wait long to have your prescriptions filled, and they advertise that they take all major insurance, including federal employee health plan insurance (which applies to me). This place is a classic. Check it out.

My wife needed a new pharmacy after changing doctors for convenience. She made certain to have all…read morethe information readily available prior to having the prescription electronically sent, as the medication is quite a delicate one. From the beginning, she felt they were very prejudicial about it, even saying "the insurance needed preauthorization" for a medication she had been taking for over a dozen years. When she called to ask what the issue was, they ran it again and it was just fine. Today, they called to say they couldn't fill the medication because the prescriber wasn't in the immediate area and they could only fill those from the immediate area. Mind you, they've filled it several times but they just "couldn't believe it hadn't been flagged before". It's from less than 3 hours away and insurance is perfectly fine-filled perfectly on time. Then it was a "Good luck finding another pharmacy!" This has been a terrible experience for my wife, who had been so happy to have the ease of a hometown pharmacy. I would suggest you avoid this pharmacy if you aren't a local or have a medication they may not agree with (Even if they don't know why you take it or your health history). It often concerns me that pharmacists have the power to make medical decisions that should be between a patient and their physician. I understand abuse of medications happens, but utilizing common sense happens, as well.
