I really wanted to give this place more stars but just couldn't as our experience continued. Upon walking into the restaurant it seemed nice enough. friendly staff greeted us and we were seated right away. My fiance and i have been trying a different family restaurant each week to find the best in the area as far as price/ service/ atmosphere and this was the next one of the list. AT first the staff was great our waitress greeted us and got us coffee. Then we ordered..... both my fiance and i are vegetarians for various reasons one of them being health. I ordered the egg Florentine since it was the vegetarian equivalent to eggs Benedict but with spinach and no Canadian bacon. My fiance tried to order the 2-2-2 which is two french toasts-two eggs and two pieces of bacon or sausage. he asked if instead of meat since he was vegetarian if he could have toast instead of meat. and the waitress declined saying if we made substitutes then everyone would do it, even though the sub would be in the restaurants favor. but anyways he ended up ordering the eggs Florentine as well. after there refusal of toast my fiance continued as normal. i noticed that in the mean time another couple who arrived after us had gotten their food before us and had finished before we got our food. The food arrives. the waitress acknowledges there is Canadian bacon on it and asks if it is alright. me and fiance just looked at each other hungry but it wasn't what we ordered. she continued to speak saying " you guys are big meet eaters?" and asked again if it was okay and i said no. so she took it back and saying how silly of the owner since he doesn't eat meat either. finally we got our food but my fiance and i just wanted to eat and leave because things had gotten so weird between the waitress and us and then she was overly friendly but not in a comforting nice way. the bill came and she said the coffee was one her but at the end of the day she could have just let my fiance sub out meat for toast. Overall the price if good and the food is fine. would like to give this place another chance but there are other restaurants int area and I'm willing to pay $2.00 more to have better customer service read more

Its a great restaraunt to go to consistently, Fairly priced food and friendly staff. REAL greek food. Not that canned souvlaki you get elsewhere. This place has spanakopita in the traditional way, never from a bag/box. Wherle is on point. read more

New owners as of Thursday. I see a positive difference already. Tables were clean when I walked in -a first in the last 4 or 5 visits. New owners painted already to freshen it up. New cook back there -and I can tell my omelette has very fresh ingredients. The waitresses are smiling -I was greeted when I came in - and they aren't acting all stressed out as they have been for months. read more

I have lived around the corner from this place for about 5 years and I've never been here to eat until recently! I'm not sure why we never chose this place, as we go out to eat all the time! I wish I had known about this place sooner. I will NEVER go back to Denny's for breakfast!!! My husband, my 8 month old son, and myself came here for dinner. I had the open chicken souvlaki. It was delish! My husband had a burger and that was great too. I can't say much about the service the night that we went, however. Our server wasn't very attentive and never brought me a coffee refill after the first cup, never checked to see how our food was, and brought us our check before ever asking if we wanted anything else. We were both planning to order dessert and were pretty disappointed when she dropped the check on our table real fast and ran off. At that point, we decided she was probably doing us a favor and that neither of us really NEEDED dessert, so we just paid and left. The prices are great and the food was great. We will definitely be back and I chalk the bad service up to a super busy time and maybe just not the best waitress. I do not let one bad server affect my overall opinion of a restaurant. Hopefully we either get a different one next time or she'll be better on her game. :) read more

Mediocre at best. Came with friends. 4 adults 2 kids. Ordered 2 eggs Benedict with extra crispy home fries 2 kids French toast and 2 other basic meals. Very slow service. Coffee cups are size of tea cups ( 2 sips ). Eggs Benedict was not good. No crispy English muffin, the extra crispy home fries was extra mushy and gross. Our friends got there food about 10 mins after us. Will not eat here again. read more

My wife & I came to Wehrle Diner last evening. We had a *really* long day and wanted some diner food to feel better. However, the only way we could afford to go out is with a coupon. The coupon was good for $8 off a dinner entree when another one is purchased. I ordered the Fried Chicken. About 25 minutes after I ordered my food, the waitress tells me that they are out of Fried Chicken. When I ask why it took so long for her to tell me, she told me that she wanted to see how much of my salad I ate first (I'm still confused as to why this mattered). The waitress recommends chicken wings or tenders as an alternative. I tell her an alternative would be fine, as long as I can still use the coupon. She tells me that they usually don't do it unless it's an entree. I tell her that I wanted an entree, but they don't have it. That's not my fault. She tells me that they can honor the coupon, but I can't get a single order a wings. I need to get a double. Are you kidding me? I can barely eat 10 wings and now they are insisting I order 20? How is that saving me money? It's not. Without the coupon, wings would cost $8. With the coupon, and having to buy 20 wings, costs me $6. So my $8 off coupon is now worth $2 off. So, after being in your restaurant for 30 minutes, I had to just pick up and leave. We couldn't afford to pay for two full price items. Pathetic. I've been a regular customer at your diner for a very long time, and now I am NEVER coming back. We were having a bad day and just wanted something to pick us up. Instead, we were left scrambling at almost 8 pm to find a last second dinner. Your staff is more concerned with saving a couple bucks over the happiness of your customers. You ruined our evening. This is a cute little diner. I've tried it out twice now and love the food! I like the Greek dishes, my husband likes their sandwiches, roast beef dinner and fish dinners. (He's been there more than I have) The pies are really good too. The service when we've been there has been great. Refills right away and the workers are all friendly. Love it! read more

Four friends and I went here for breakfast, 3 of us ordered home fries well done; they were not even close and mine were cold. My in my friends home fries she found a hair in it and sent it back. We have been to this nice family restaurant 3 times in the past 2 years. The first two times would have received 3-4 starts for the quality of home-style cooking with inexpensive prices and good service. However , our most recent visit in May 2015 gets 2 stars, and that is being generous. 2 out of three meals arrived cold , no silverware until requested, dirty silverware when arrived . My least favorite moment was the waitress arrived at the table (because she forgot what drinks were ordered) coughing loudly because something she was drinking had gone down the wrong way. Nothing she can do about things going down the wrong way, but she could have avoided her continued walk to our table , coughed out of table range and all would have been fine . read more

This little, family owned restaurant used to have that classic diner feel and still functioned as a proper restaurant. However, in the past 5 years the restaurant has fallen downhill. My mother and I ordered 2 Open Chicken Slovakias. Our tomatoes were old and so was the lettuce. The feta had almost no flavor to it and we had to ask for olives. Not only that but our seats had rips in them and our waitress stated "I can't close the blinds, they are broken", because of that we had to sit with the sun in our eyes. Nothing good to say. We were seated by an unfriendly and uncaring hostess. A waitress shortly came over and brought menus and asked if wanted something to drink. The coffee was brought quickly and it went down hill from there. We waited at least 10 minutes while the wait staff wandered around aimlessly chatting with each other and nobody took our order. The place was not very busy (easy to see why) so it's not like they were understaffed. We left enough to cover the tiny cup of coffee they had served us and will never return! read more

Very friendly staff and owner. Good food too! Have had breakfast (nice fluffy scrambled eggs and good thick French toast), dinner/lunch ( broiled and deep fried chicken breast sandwiches with fries done as crisp as I asked for!!). Very reasonable prices. Clean too. Overall good place with a menu varied enough for everyone to be happy. Also have daily specials. read more

A zero star rating is not accepted so i had no choice to rate with an unworthy 1 star. NEVER EVER go to the Wherle Restarant! We went there 2 weeks ago and sat in a booth only long enough for me to find an aunt crawling on my purse.....then I noticed at least 30 ants crawling all over on the ledge by the window! They were all over up and down the ledge at the booths! We moved to a different table and told the waitress who was horrid and embarrassed but not enough to inform the other 3 tables of diners that they are going to relocate them! I even told the waitress that I'm a bit disappointed and surprised that the owner didn't make that suggestion, and would be the respectful and responsible thing to do. She said it was a real good idea (duh!) and was on her way to inform the owner. The diners were never moved and were left there to eat in an ant infested area. The ledge was loaded with old food, dust and dirt from plants. And the food was terrible! The beef was on the edge of turning spoil. However my Belgian waffle was very good and the waitress was honest upfront and volunteered informing me that the strawberries were frozen. No take home boxes on that day! What a disappointment compared to fifteen years ago. My husband and I use to eat there all the time when we were dating. The quality, care and passion just isn't there any longer....in addition to having lost morals. read more

I have been a fairly regular diner at the Wehrle Family Restaurant for 22 years. Tonight I went with my family. We placed our order, waited and waited. Eventually my husband went up to the counter and told them that the three groups that came in after us had their food already while we were waiting. The older waitress said the food we ordered took longer to prepare. Maybe but not that much longer. From there on out, rather than apologize and try to improve the situation the staff stayed away like we had the plague. When the food did arrive the waitress plopped it down and ran. It's not the wait staff's fault if the cook didn't prepare the food in a timely manner but it was their fault that they dealt with it poorly. I doubt I will go there again any time soon there are just too many other better options. read more

I bring my nephew here for breakfast all the time. We love the service, food, and the price is very affordable. But recently I've noticed that there's a new owner. There's new decor and new menus, but the food has change for the worse. I always order steak and eggs, and I love my steak on the rare side, and my nephew usually order pancakes or French toast. And I never order of the children's menu for him. The last time we were there, I ordered my usual and my nephew ordered the full stack pancakes. The waitress was nice, she even offered strawberries and whip cream to go along with the pancakes. When our food came, my eggs was on top of my steak! And they totally forgot the strawberries and the whip cream that the waitress offered. Finally, the waitress came to check on us and I mentioned that they forgot the strawberries and whip cream. So, while waiting for them to put the toppings on the pancakes, I cut into my rare steak and to my surprise, it's cooked very well done. There was not even a bit of pink! On top of that, it was very greasy! It seems like they were trying to cook it with butter to give it flavor, which was all over my plate. A few minutes later the waitress came back with the pancakes. I swear I thought she said fresh strawberries, but instead it looked like the strawberries had been sitting in the fridge too long that it's mushy and the color wasn't even red anymore. This was and used to be a good diner with a walking distance from where I live. I'll drive somewhere else from now on for a good breakfast! read more

What a horrible experience! Three of us went for breakfast on Mother's Day. When the breakfasts arrived (two eggs benedict and an omelet) the one eggs benedict had significantly less than half the usual hollandaise sauce. I was told that the cooks (I will not use the term "Chefs" since they don't rate that moniker) were making more. The waitress offered to take back my breakfast and then bring me a new one when the sauce was made.. Since my wife and son were already served, I politely told the waitress that I would take the meal as served. I later found a large piece of a broken dish in my hash browns. I told the waitress and she took it back and then told me that a dish had "exploded" in the kitchen and pieces went everywhere. Indeed, she said another customer found a piece in his or her meal. I sent the dish back and told her I did not want anything more. While the "boss" comped the meals for all three of us, I was going to still tip the waitress since the problem was the cook's not her. When she came for the dishes and told me the broken dish piece in the hash was a "mistake", I told her that I did not want to hear anything more regarding the meal. She then told my wife to have a nice mother's day and, as the waitress walked away, she snidely told me that she would have a nice mother's day too. As we walked out, the waitress gave me a nasty look and I told her she had lost her tip. Her reply was "That's OK - I don't need your tip." I asked the hostess for the name of the waitress (since I was going to call the manager), but she told me that she could not give me that information. The waitress then said her name was "LucyLou". She ultimately said her name was Jennifer. Good luck if you go there and get her. . The food was nothing more than mediocre. I always enjoyed coming to this diner for delicious well cooked food & a friendly staff. It's so close to my home & it was always a favorite for my family. That is, until they got new owners. I've been there 3 times since that & each time was worst than the last! The food on their new menu is AWFUL!!!!! So bland and just gross. When I complained about my order being bland, they offered NO solutions, options or even a discount on my bill. Which I wasn't looking for a discount, but seriously, I took one bite & decided to box it up so I could take it home & try to recreate it into something with taste! The last time I order the SAME melt with the previous owners, it was good enough to drool over & today my melt was a JOKE! I will NEVER return to this restaurant, which is sad. I have some great memories with my son there grabbing a delicious breakfast & I love to support local, but I would eat at a denny's any day over this hole since it's menu changed.
