I really like the Penfield Wegmans location! The parking lot is roomy, and I never have trouble finding a spot. The exterior is classic Wegmans design, and the interior is HUGE! They have a vast produce section. Prepared foods has so many delicious fresh and pre-made options (the subs are basically a local delicacy), and there is a beautiful upstairs eatery. In Nature's Market you can find gluten free, dairy free, sugar free, organic products. There is a pharmacy so you can easily pick up medication while you shop. The aisles in this store are nice and wide, and they have some really well done specialty sections and displays. This isn't the store that I normally shop at and it's set up differently than most I've been to, so I often use the Wegmans app to figure out which aisle I want to be in, which is a convenient plus. Employees at Wegmans as always are friendly and helpful. My ONLY complaints about Wegmans stores in general is that they have become a bit pricey with their prepared foods, and it can sometimes be hard to find name brands with certain products. The store hours for all the locations ( Wegmans) is 6 am until 12 am. Many customers have been informed that the cafe doors would be open at 9 am. at the Penfield store. I/we have witnessed on many occasions, customers standing at the cafe door entrance, waiting for someone to open the doors! There are numerous customers that walk with canes, using wheel chairs, etc. that should not be treated in such a manner. My goodness, how difficult is it to open all the doors when the store opens in the morning??? Shopping or having lunch at the Pittsford location is quite another experience. All the doors are open at 6 am. Management is always prepared and always courteous----very professional. If it were not for the customers, no one would have a job. Mr. Robert Wegman made it his business to ensure that all customers, regardless of management or zip code were made to feel welcome. read more

The pharmacy staff is incompetent. The regular staff is rude and gets in the way and prices are higher than other places.

I had a very poor Instacart shopper (that is not Wegmans fault) but I tried to assist by calling the store to ask them if they could go and tell me if they had certain products at the store that my shopper was quick to just want to refund me and not even give me another selection. I had to ask her to go try to find someone to maybe go in the back and look for the item. But when I called the service desk, I expected to be treated with respect and consideration, and Melisa at the service desk who I talked to could've cared less and so I escalated to a manager and she gave me JJ. He didn't seem any more caring than she did about my situation! That's all I wanted them to do was contact the departments and let me know if those items were somewhere in the store so that I could text my shopper and tell her so. I am sick and using my voice makes it disappear, but I spent a lot of time on the phone because I believe in stellar customer service as I have provided that in many years of employment for people that I interacted with. I called Wegmans customer service and Sarah from the Penfield store called me and said she listened to my concerns and said she apologized and said she would talk to the people involved - I have taken a picture of the two pears that were selected for me by my Instacart shopper, which I can't believe were even on the shelf in the produce department for selection! wegmans is known for having everything you've ever wanted to shop for in the grocery store. What I find difficult is finding that special thing that you want to shop for in a grocery store! Went for Christmas and Thanksgiving in both times there wasn't really a lot of people Not wearing a masks as even though the store does not enforce this policy because I find an occasional one or two customers notwearing a mask. Their produce is fresh, and inventory is plentiful! Their policy of 24 hours always opened has changed. In their monopoly on crazy Rochester and a lot of the major cities in every New York state is evident by their followers always going to them before third party stores! The Penfield Road Wegmans is the main one I shop at since my family lives near it. It's only the first time I've shopped here since March. This was just a quick shop for a few things that they had. The store is always clean, even before Covid, but now they also have sanitizer in several places to use and people wear masks and social distance. They even have a sign to tell people who don't have a mask to go to the desk and they will give you one. I checked out quickly and washed my cart handle and my hands coming in and leaving. read more

(my friends in Florida think I'm crazy when I say this) Founded in 1916 in Canandaigua, NY, Wegmans who is still family owned has appeared on Fortune's annual "100 Best Companies to Work For" list since the list first appeared in 1998. Usually hold the #1 or 2 spot! Clean stores with friendly & knowledgeable staff. Beer sections that are the equivalent of paradise to anyone who loves a great bottle or can of tasty brew. Meat section is difficult to explain the wonder of fresh steaks, chicken, pork & seafood to feed you & your family. I could go on forever speaking platitudes about Wegmans. Wegmans has managed to smooth things out. The cheese is amazing, their prepared food is tasty although my store doesn't have the selection that the flagship store has. Out of any other grocer, this is the one I love the most. It's a fantastic grocery store compared to the others although I still enjoy Whole Foods and Trader Joe's. It's well planned out (the aisles that is) and they have more than the East Avenue location, but not absolutely everything like the Flagship store in Pittsford on Monroe. Ok, I am so done with Wegman's! There are now four things I used to buy on a regular basis, and they have done away with all four items. I also, will not be forced to buy a store product name, they sell (some) brand name products, but, not many. I (will not) be dictated to, by any store! One thing they did away with is their Raspberry/Lemon cake that was excellent, it was very popular in the the summer months, I know, because I would always have to order one, if I wanted one, they couldn't keep them in the store, they were sold quickly. This is my go-to neighborhood Weggies. I am here at least 3x a week for whatever it is I am craving at the moment. It's the perfect size for my short legs -- and also the perfect size for my wide appetite! Most of the departments have just what you need with the occasional "new" product. They just renovated their International foods section. I only browse down this aisle when I am in a pinch. Which is when I am too lazy to venture into the city or everything else is closed. This location is also relatively good for couponing as well. For those who don't know, Wegmans double any coupon under $1.00. Their beer section also got a hell of a face list in the past month. They have expanded their imports aisles and craft beer refrigerators. Again, if you are in a pinch and everything else is closed. I purchased them just after 4 o'clock this afternoon and they were dried out beyond words. they were so tough you could not eat them without sacrificing your teeth. I would like to start out with I love wegmans as a whole but my experience with this particular location was terrible. Helping hands not helpful-they would rather mess around on the job instead of actually doing their job. Management needs work on customer service and problem solving resolution instead of getting short with customers and being rude. I will never shop at this location again. Very negative staff and experience as well as a physically unsafe environment. They also refused to fix the problem or send a formal letter of apology. I called the customer service number but they don't do anything but redirect you to that same store. It was a complete waste of time because they just don't seem to care or take safety seriously. This is my neighborhood Wegmans Although the East Avenue one is closer, I only visit that one sporadically (after 9pm) This Wegmans is smaller and the selection is more limited, but it's rarely over crowded and it's easy to find parking. For the basic stuff I need, this place is perfect. Almost running out of Wegmans in Rochester to visit....but happily, I was able to find the Penfield branch to be above and beyond for the most part. Is that merely enough to award this business a five-star? I believe it is, so if you don't believe me, then I would stop reading this review and move on... For those not knowing, (in my opinion), Wegmans is the greatest grocery store in the nation. I have no intention of trying to revise my philosophy, but with most of the positives I have experienced with Wegmans, the Penfield branch made me come to the conclusion that Wegmans is no joke, it's real and it's outstanding! So how about Penfield Wegmans? This Wegmans is what most Wegmans should follow. The produce, breads, and bakery goods are all baked fresh and well displayed to a point where someone with OCD would find it satisfactory. The prices can range from outstanding to borderline expensive but that "borderline expensive" issue is something I found only ONCE at my entire time at Penfield Wegmans (I found the juice a bit pricey but I didn't need it). From the fresh and delicious produce, to the large variety of breads baked daily, to the wondrous hot meals section, this place truly has it all. The Penfield Wegman's also boasts a parking lot that is never full so you don't run into the clusterfuck that is the Pitsford location. Did you forget dinner? I have always had a very good experience with the penfield catering desk. She is flexible, efficient, helpful and works with you. Generally this is the only location I will order from. It would be nice if all the locations were as service oriented. Many times when pittsford wouldn't take a breakfast order or lunch order penfield would. I have one comment regarding wegmans catering overall, it is an odd practice to charge more to heat the catered food. While most caterers charge to deliver it, or serve it. I went to the Penfield Wegmans at 10:40 AM on 12 September 2020 to get a flu shot and pick up some groceries. It's bad enough that the only waiting area for a flu shot is in a high-traffic zone, but there are people congregating, shaking hands, and putting on/taking off their masks. After being in this environment for 10 minutes during the middle of a pandemic, I finally gave up and decided to just do my shopping and leave when I saw a woman enter without a mask and continue into the store without it, walking by employees who did nothing. I saw her continuing to shop throughout the store without a mask and brought it to the attention of two different employees, both of whom said they wouldn't do anything about it. Wegmans is actively contributing to coronavirus deaths through its willful choice not to enforce New York State coronavirus precautions. Once again Wegmans Penfield falls short of thier claim to care about thier customers. I was just in the store and thought I would get a sub as I am really hunger. Got in lune, 3 guys ahead of me, waited my turn and then not one of the 4 people working there could bother to wait on my or even bother noticing I was standing there. Wait 5 mins and no one offered to help help me...and if course there are no managers on the floor. They day put a card in thier complaint box, which no one ever response to. I am a fan of this location. There is a ton of parking which is perfect. The pharmacy has its own entrance for when you just need to run in and pick up something from there. There is a child care area if you would like to drop your child off while you shop. There is a good selection of everything you may need plus some extras. Always a lot of cashiers. The staff is helpful. It's Wegmans of course it is fantastic. One negative is that the produce section is a little small, especially compared to Pittsford which is where I normally do my shopping. Best grocery store in the area for sure. The coffee shop near the entrance has delicious breakfast sandwiches and carmel lattes. I've not tried much else as that is my go to breakfast choice and I do this several times a week. It's consistently good and never had a problem with food quality. Cost on the sandwich is great at $2.50 ish but the latte seems rather expensive at almost $5. I don't live close to this Wegmans but in Rochester you are never far from one. This one is located in a plaza with Lisa's Liquor Barn and Target, making it pretty convenient for anyone living in Penfield or Fairport. They also carry a wider selection of products that I use than the Wegmans locations in Webster. Anytime I'm in that part of town, I stop in. read more

I am completely disappointed these days with their prepared foods. Last week I got their Mac and cheese...it was bland. Not even any salt flavor or anything. It was like eating just eating melted cheese on macaroni. This past weekend I got their prepared Penne pasta, same thing. No flavor. I could be ok with it but for what you pay for it is ridiculous. Just got a half-sheet cake for my son's birthday party. It was a marble cake with the whipped cream icing (instead of buttercream) and custard filling. The flavors were picked out by my son, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Wow! It was so delicious!! It was moist, and the icing was so light and not too sweet (light buttercream). The custard was amazing, like the custard in their Boston cream donuts. I ate 3 pieces!! It was so hard to stop. We had 25 people at the party, and it was just the right amount of cake. And the design was perfect. They didn't have what I wanted in their design book, so I brought a picture printed from online. They drew and colored it with icing. It was so darling (if that's the right word for a transformers cake?). It was more money than I would normally pay for a cake, but it was totally worth it! Thank you wegmans! So making cole slaw for party...went to Wegmans and picked up cabbage...are you ready 89 cents per pound...I almost fainted. Then went down to the Dutchland Store in Marion....cabbage 25 cents per pound. Needless to say, taking bake the cabbage to Wegmans. One more item they really over charge you. read more
