This is by far my favorite Wegmans location. It's so easy to find everything I'm looking for compared to other Wegmans locations. The staff are always friendly and helpful. There's a huge selection of items that other places don't have. I love how the Hippie Organic Blueberries are always in stock. I also like how they sell frozen wild-caught salmon that's NOT sockeye. It's so hard to find wild-caught salmon as everything is now farm-raised. It's also very convenient having the pharmacy directly in the supermarket as well for one-stop shopping. I also like their seasonal decorations. Honestly this place is just magical and my favorite supermarket to go to. read more

About a decade ago, I wrote a review for Wegmans talking about their great selection, their innovative shopping experience, their food quality, etc. HOWEVER, since then, I feel the company has changed dramatically. In recent years, I feel they have betrayed both their customers and the core values that once made them great. The products I have loved and purchased for years have steadily disappeared from their shelves, often to be replaced by inferior Wegman-branded products. Their prices have risen ridiculously fast, while portion sizes have declined dramatically (even more than the industry as a whole). Their customer service, which used to take customer concerns seriously, now seems to ignore customer feedback. For example, on two issues I raised, store managers admitted things weren't right and promised to check into things for me and call me back with answers. But they never did. And lastly, the innovation that made shopping at Wegman's an interesting experience has completely disappeared. It's now essentially just a warehouse store, but with prices 40-60% higher. I still shop there, but whereas for 40 years I never considered shopping elsewhere, I now do nearly 50% of my grocery shopping at other stores. And if some other grocery store were built closer to my home, I might consider leaving Wegman's altogether. Wegmans is one of my biggest disappointments in shopping. Oh my gosh, I love this place! We need one in California! Please please Wegmans come to California! We were visiting family in Rochester, NY for a week and visited Wegmans (the original flagship store) at least three times ha ha! What an awesome grocery store but it's so much more than that! They literally have everything! The meat department is incredible, they even offer high end Wagu! I especially love the cheese section. Shout out to Amy! She was wonderful. We bought so much cheese there! This place kind of reminds me of Whole Foods & Sprouts, meets Bristol Farms and Erewhon on steroids! Pittsford location is on the fast track to being the worst of Wegmans' locations. Tonight they had customers exiting by the single non-automated employee side door - so no risk of thinking this location is putting customer experience first. Evening staff keep playing... r&b?, and really loud... I now won't go unless I have my earbuds. Recent overhaul of the self checkout is a nightmare of congestion and 'people', feels like a livestock holding pen (Again, a decision made for Wegman's, certainly not for their customers, aholes) (racks of junk food at self-checkouts are so close to the checkout you kill your hands on #$% racks, idiocy). New layout of the freezer/grocery sections is awful beyond awful, Pittsford's layout, once the best, is now behind even the Perinton location's layout (if that's even possible), even Salt Road is doing better than Pittsford now. Rude staff (whats new, x15years, but far worse in the last year at Pittsford location at least), item's constantly out of stock (this location is particularly awful at keeping things in stock), constantly not carrying every day staples for more niche non-grocery items (more GM than Walmart) -- that people would rather buy online regardless (x10 years). read more

We always have to visit Wegmans when visiting the ROC. As much as we miss it since living in NC and now TX, we have realized how much overhyped it is. The prices here which "can't be beat" are actually beat pretty much everywhere. I don't even know how they can still use that tagline because I can't believe people can afford to shop here fully. This particular store is really nice, it IS Pittsford. Everything is organized and well stocked. I was able to find one fragrance free hand soap and fragrance free bar soap. Wish they had more non scented options but at least we got some. Not a fan of the crowds. This place is ALWAYS crowded. The workers are always friendly and helpful. We get sushi from their sushi bar on a regular basis... most weeks. Today I picked up a family pack and an avocado/cucumber roll. While the quality is still good (the best pre-packaged sushi I've had from a grocery store), but not only have prices gone up, but the portion sizes are MUCH smaller. In fact, most pieces of the rolls were about 1/2 the size they used to be and what you would normally expect. That mean not only they increased their prices, but doubled their cost per unit by 100%! So disappointed that Wegmans has made a change to their pizza ordering options... Not every option was available on their app but we used to be able to call the pizza shop to order a barbecue chicken pizza without any problem. The latest time we tried to call we were directed not to the pizza shop but to maybe the catering office... Whoever handles meals to go... This Wegman's is amazing. And I always thought the one in Ithaca was the best.... We visited a different location in the Rochester area a few months ago and were underwhelmed, but not here. Tons of fresh and made to order food options, a burger bar that's larger than McDonald's with a play place, and super clean everywhere. The staff are super friendly, though it is a Wegmans after all, so that's kind of assumed. Reading some of the reviews, I was reminded of the Yogiism, no one goes there any more, it's too crowded. Above average store ! Definitely cleaner than the rest. Restrooms are also cleaner but perhaps it's because I was there in the morning. They had extra amenities such as diapers for children and warm water faucets. Food in the store always looks fresh. Being from Texas, we don't have Wegmans in the Lonestar State. But I have heard of Wegmans from business school and how they're an iconic brand in the area. So, when I visited Rochester for two days, after a recommendation from my friend, I checked out their original location. I must say I believe in the hype. I walked around and liked how the store was structured and that they have a lot of prepared food e.g. sushi, sandwiches, pizza, etc. I bought a bagel, some beer, and some water so nothing special but I enjoyed the experience and get why it's a popular grocery store. Many people are well aware that Wegmans for years now has been getting rid of all processed items that are not owned by Wegmans. Example, This year Wegmans no longer have any or at least many of OceanSpray Cranberry. You might think don't worry Wegmans will have their version. And the answer is YES they do. They call it WEGMANS Whole Berry Cranberry Sauce. But guess what there are very FEW berries in the can maybe like 10%, the rest is just jelly. The Ocean Spray version seem to have 30 to 50% in the can with REAL berries. Wegmans may have Whole berries, you cannot say they are lying as the few berries that they have our whole. So good you can purchase Wegmans items but they're not in the same quality as items you used to buy. You may not care about Ocean Spray but next year it might be Häagen-Dazs maybe you love Ritz crackers that you can't get. If not now soon companies that you love to buy from you will no longer get at Wegmans. Don't worry though you can buy a Wegmans version. YUCK Again don't worry though. Sooner or later competitors will sell what you need. It might be Whole Foods it might be Costco, Trader Joe's, it might be Topps it might be even a new company. I wish there was a Wegmans in California! I was in Rochester for work and my friend who grew up in the area recommended I check this place out - I've heard of it but didn't fully understand until I went in why he recommended it. Amazing ! The bakery had lots of great stuff like the Apple custard tart I ended getting. There was hot and ready food, a taco bar, lots of freshly prepped meals to take home and cook. I wanted to buy so much stuff FYI if you plan on buying food/snacks to take back with you and you're flying out of Rochester. My love of grocery shopping began with Wegmans. I was a proud member of the Cookie Monster Club which entitled me to a delicious and free chocolate chip cookie with my punch card. The punch card and Cookie Monster Club is long gone but my love of Wegmans has survived and raised the bar for every other grocery store that crosses my path. The customer service at Wegmans is top notch. These employees bend over backwards to help and instead of just pointing to the location of an item, they will actually escort you to whatever it is you're looking for. I always wonder what kind of hiring process and training these people go through to be so pleasant, helpful, and friendly. Consistently. Makes me want to drink the Kool Aid. This Wegmans is huge so if you don't like crowds, it's probably not for you. Yes, people don't watch where they are going but it's not because it's Wegmans, they will do that anywhere. It is, however, very easy to become engrossed in things like the mammoth selection of teas at Wegmans so try to be understanding when I forget about you in my search for the perfect stress-reliever blend while you're in a hurry to get home and cook dinner. It happens. Get over it. There are worse things in the world. Crowds just mean using a few extra social skills like saying 'scuse me or being conscious of your tendency to become a human aisleblock. The selection can't be beat either. You can peruse aisles packed with gluten free, organic, and Kosher items and probably even do some late night, last minute gift shopping from their seasonal shop. You can order your wedding flowers from their beautiful floral department or raid the produce department and pick up nearly any exotic fruit you've been wanting to try. It's the best produce in the area next to the farmer's market. After a few years of living without a Wegmans nearby, I cannot escape the lure of visiting every time I am in the area. We were in Rochester for a quick visit from California and happened to stumble on this Wegmans. It was great to come during fall season with all of the fall decorations outside. The store was huge and had a lot of departments to look at. For us the bakery was what really stole the show. We purchased two loaves of bread: one walnut-raisin loaf, and also a sourdough loaf. Both loaves stayed fresh for nearly a week, and were very tasty, especially the walnut raisin. It was also a treat to go to the meat counter and get some mortadella sliced to order. (That doesn't happen often in a California supermarket.) I'll admit the some of the prices were a bit high, but some prices were also fairly reasonable. Incredibly well stocked grocery store. Rochester's answer to Harrods. I live nearby (within walking distance) and I visit the store at all hours. That said, i know that some folks have issues with Wegmans, and upon reading some of the comments on yelp I can understand why. First off... let me say (from thirty seven years of experience) that there are good time and bad times to visit this mega store. During the peak hours you will encounter clueless & hapless shoppers careening wildly through the aisles with little regard for their fellow shoppers. You will find that the parking lot is congested as drivers converge towards the front of the store looking for a spot close to the entrance. You may not have other opportunities to shop here outside of those hours. What to do? Firstly, the parking lot is horribly laid out. Pro-tip: avoid the midsection of the parking lot. If you park along the left hand side of the parking lot you'll find that there is usually a spot or two along the sidewalk & it is just a quick walk to the entrance near the food bar. Rude customers? More likely than not that's cause by folks wrangling those huge mega shopping carts down densely packed aisles. If you go there mid-day on a Saturday or Sunday it will be crazy.& so I recommend that you use one of the smaller carts on those days UNLESS you can't avoid it. (I can whip one of those around and dart though the store like nobody's business on even the craziest day). But then again, I don't jostle easily I've never had a problem at the store. Sue me! In conclusion, let me say that the first thing my kids missed when they went off to college was that there wasn't a Wegman's nearby... while we send them care packages whenever we can, it's just not the same. When my wife moved to Rochester several years ago, she was completely unimpressed by Wegmans, saying that their prices are too high and selection nothing special. Being a native Rochesterian, I wholeheartedly disagreed with her. But I'm coming to realize that she's right. Wegmans used to offer outstanding selection and a great prepared food section. In the last few years, they've: 1) Raised their prices significantly (this was an issue predating Covid) and are now fairly significantly more expensive than Aldis or Trader Joe's. 2) Greatly reduced the variety and quality of their prepared foods section / hot food bar while jacking up the price significantly. Charging $13.99/lb for greasy subpar Chinese food is crazy. Essentially you pay restaurant prices for very mediocre food. 3) Pushed out national brands for many products with their own store brand. They used to have Sabra hummus for example but now only carry Wegmans humus (which is ok but has a weird texture) and Ithaca hummus (which, having lived in the Middle East, I can tell you is not real hummus). More than this, their store brand products are often inferior in taste and quality. Does anyone actually taste these things before putting them in stores? Blind taste tests vs national brands? Their cheesy corn puffs for example were completely inedible and I had to throw them out. 4) Produce quality has declined significantly. 5) Bread prices are insane. The absolute cheapest bread you can get in Wegmans AFIK is around $2.49. You can get cheaper and significantly better bread at Trader Joe's I'm looking forward to Whole Foods opening - including what I assume will ge an amazing hot foods bar. I can't believe I never reviewed this Wegman's as I shop here for my groceries every other week. This is an awesome store, the bakery is incredible, the Sub shop makes delicious subs, and the produce section is great! The store layout is huge and you have to go several times to get used to it, but the flow is good. I am a loyal Wegman's shopper, occasionally using the Top's on Clinton so maybe I am biased but this is just a great store for groceries or a bite to eat. On the down side, they don't carry a lot of brands as they tend to stock their own, the parking lot can be a mess, and it can be incredibly busy so try to go early or late but not at peak times. I like Wegmans but realize as I get older that they are in the same sales mind set as anyone else and will sell inferior products that they put their name on that are not what they appear to be. I heard about the illegal market that's exploded with the fake olive oils, especially the EVOO. So we've been using Wegmans Italian Classics 100% Italian EVOO for years. I discovered that only 10-20% of EVOO sold in stores is actually real. The rest is fake and highly processed with most of the oils natural health benefits removed in including all of the good fats & Omega 3's. I decided to taste this oil and realized it had a funny veggy oil after taste and bland at best. so i put the bottle in the fridge to see if any natural olive fat was present. It would not gel, cloud or harden like a real EVOO does. I then called the corporate supplier to ask for the actual ingredients. I got a huge run around and a lot of deflecting. He said he would call me back after getting the list of what's inside since it doesn't show on the label. He did say that he wouldn't purchase that olive oil and it's cheap so you get what you pay for. I did find real EVOO that wasn't way more expensive either and it has certification "COOC" and harvest date with a single source that can be traced, no hiding, full disclosure. It's Cobram from California and Wegmans sells it. It tastes amazing like real olives were used and solidified in the fridge. I'm in the process of contacting the proper people to simply find out what's actually inside what they sell. Very difficult! The reason I care so much is that EVOO was recommended in moderation by my doctor along with other foods for my high cholesterol. Now for 3 years I think I've been using nothing more than lamp oil. Why does this location insist on always burning the store-made pizza? We like the new woodfired pizza available here - but do not like a lot of burned bubbles or char on the crust. Ask the clerk each time to bake it lightly, and on 3 different visits it comes out with excessive carbon around the crust. Happened again tonight. We had hungry kids waiting at home -so no time to send it back.
