According to my grandparents, this supermarket has remained mostly unchanged since the 1960's. Does this automatically make it a great supermarket or a horrible store? Well...depends on how you look at it.
It is a fairly small market, located near the Tim Horton's building, housing only a few checkout lanes, small aisles, but also fresh-baked goods kind of like what Wegmans does. They have a nice selection of items you would expect to find at a grocery store but as usual, they have "Big M' items like the milk, which is alright but not anything spetacular or horrible by any means. So what's good about this place? Well a few things do stand out...
For one, the prices are pretty low for a supermarket which makes this an ideal place for those "instant buys" that you have to walk in and buy that certain item if you have a craving for it or forgot it. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this place for daily shopping if you have a large family as the selection while nice, isn't as diverse as such locations like Tops and Wegmans. The store is also clean and well mantained, not being overly filithy, which makes it a nice atmosphere for shopping. However, there are some things I just couldn't stand...
The staff here ranged from friendly too "I don't give a shit....I hate life.." and so forth which varied from the cashier's to the bakery section. I ran into some nice staff at most occasions but the times when I have to deal with a sour one...I can feel the blood in my veins starting to boil. I would like to add that while I enjoy thier baked goods, the area around the bakery is sloppy and needs a cleaning, not very pleasant to view.
A four star rating was my intention for this market since I do visit it from time to time but with the staff issues and some of the cleanliness problems, it doesn't deserve the extra star. read more
