Plain and simple - I love Wegman's. So much so, that I find myself here at least four times a week. This place is the gold mine of grocery stores. I refuse to shop anywhere else, even if it's convenient, just because they lack what I normally get at Wegman's. I love their section of freshly made and piping hot soups. In the winter, this is my lunch almost every day. Not to mention that you have your choice of 4-6 different kinds daily. Mediterranean bar with fresh olive tapenade?! At what other grocery store can you find this? This is one of my favorites. I also love the prepackaged and cut up veggies...makes stir frying easy! My only complaint is about this location alone....WAY TOO BUSY! No matter the day or time its always packed. Over crowded. Forget trying to maneuver through produce with a cart. Anytime I go to another Wegman's location, this is never the issue. They need to build another Wegman's location in Buffalo. Everyone from North Buffalo, the city, and possibly areas of Kenmore travel to this location. Would have been 5 star..but due to the business of this location only, I deducted a star. read more

I would have given Wegman's 4 or 5 stars a few years ago but he selection is slowly creeping downhill. A solid 30-40% of the items are now Wegman's brand. I am certainly not against a few key items being store brand...however, too many other unique brands have disappeared recently to make way fore the high percentage of Wegmans brands they now have. I once counted 17 kinds of Oreos, and 17 kinds of Wegman's knock off Oreos, yet the cookie brand I was looking for had gone away. In addition, the middle section of "things you didn't come to the grocery store for" is a bit obnoxious and keeps growing. Again, taking away from the selection of interesting groceries that they used to have. They are good at new concepts like granola bar, pasta bar, recipes, $6 meals, keeping the grounds & store clean. I do wish the salad bar opened up a bit earlier, and closed a bit later. I constantly see people swarming around after the gym looking for a healthy ready made meal and they start breaking it down around 7pm or shortly after. I still shop here & not trying to be negative, but wish the variety was back. I know a lot of people that are disappointed in the same things. read more

I LOVE Wegmans!! It may not always be the inexpensive place to shop, I mean this is New York, but they ALWAYS have what I am looking for!! I find myself wandering the aisles and looking at all of the choices they have to offer. Not to mention the guys wandering around are HOT too!!! The store is always clean and sometimes I even get a serenade in French at the check-out. They have tons of hot food/salad bar choices for lunch and dinner on-the-go and the subs are great. I love Wegmans (how many other Yelp reviews start like this?). It has almost everything I need (I do need to purchase a few things that I guess are too natural for them somehow at the Lexington Coop). The prices are not bad for the quality of what you're getting. They treat their workers really well and everyone is very helpful. It's clean. The only thing I hate about Wegmans, that ever keeps me from coming here, is that it is so busy. Maybe I'm a social phobe but I get really anxious in crowded grocery stores. I try to go here at off hours, but it's really always busy, even at 4 am. read more

Wegmans - A grocery store that doesn't feel like a grocery store, is probably the best way to describe this place. Friendly/helpful staff, great selection of prepared foods, good quality store brand products at cheap prices, large organic section, pharmacy, non-food seasonal supplies, cookware, live music on weekends....yep!, and overall indoor market atmosphere bring Wegmans well beyond your average grocery store. I've had family/relatives come into town and I actually bring them here, and they're amazed at how awesome this store really is. There's other great things I show them around town, but the funny thing is they always talk about how they wish they had a Wegmans near them. This particular store is closest to my current location and I enjoy it, but I have shopped quite extensively at the slightly larger/better Williamsville store as well. I enjoy cooking Chinese and Indian cuisines on occasion and the International section is the most impressive at this location. Also, the beer selection at this store is pretty extensive and I could spend half my time in here trying to decide what to get when beer is on my shopping list.....wait, I meant always! read more

If you are an aging white person, rest assured that you if you bump into anyone while searching for your gourmet pickled lemons, you'll be able to confidently look them in the eye and apologize politely. I dont see why people go nuts for this store. Honestly its overpriced and they dont really care how healthy you eat. But the subs are good and eating area is nice touch. no grocery store compares, it's that simple. kind of like is trader joe's and whole foods combined and formed a cheaper offspring that also carried nation brands as well as awesome wegmans brand ones and had a comparable, if not better bakery, produce and deli. i pine for this place and wish they would make the chain national. read more

My overall shopping experience is usually a positive one. Wegmans has the freshest produce and deli product selection of any stores within the city. The negative is that they have so much packed into the store it can be hard to get down the aisles. The absolute worst is during the holidays. I also can't figure out why they have expectant mother parking, most people that park there are just scumbags too lazy to walk. Their are also some cashiers that could use a little more training on how to bag groceries. Wegmans is still leaps and bounds better than any other options in the city. read more

I really do like Wegman's. a lot. it's so clean and they have a great selection. I think the only thing that's gone unmentioned here is that the prices at Wegman's are steep. the steepest in the area. It's clear that they're targeting a different market of people. You won't find a Wegman's in an inner city neighborhood. They're clean, and even when in the city, they feel suburban. The prepared foods selection is great. steeply prices, but a really great place to stop for lunch. also, they have the best selection of oragnic/whole foods/gluten-lactose free foods in the area. read more

Really the greatest grocery store I've ever frequented. Also, surprisingly, a great place to go for lunch -- their subs are awesome, and they also have decent Chinese food and sushi, as well as a Charlie The Butcher located within the store. Downside: this is not an "urban" grocery store like you might find in a bigger city or further south on Elmwood. It's a suburban monolith that they somehow found space for on Amherst St. At this particular Wegmans I did once see security chase and tackle a thief in the parking lot who attempted to steal a pork tenderloin. I don;t really know why I am reviewing Wegmans because well anyone who has set foot in the area of a Wegmans just knows how perfect this grocery store is. I go to school near NY and i literally talk about Wegmans every single day on how fantastic it is! People over there have no idea what they are missing! I mean I didn't realize other grocery stores weren't open all night which is my favorite time to explore new products! :-) who can go into a grocery store see something that they would like them to sell request it and actually get a personal phone call and have them start carrying it in their store?! NO WHERE! prepared food, cafe area to sit down - i mean i go there to have lunch and dinner!, BULK - I've never seen another grocery store have BULK at least half way decent, organic section, Kosher sections, tea sections, "around the world" sections (which my only downfall is they could be way better but at least they have an area!) what other grocery store and loose an hour or more of your day just looking?! read more

Visiting from California and my friend had said, "I miss two things about Buffalo, Wegman's and my kids, in that order." How could I not make this a stop on my trip? Wegman's lives up to its reputation. There is a great selection of food - even caters to the more cosmopolitan/international palates. All the produce is beautifully displayed, and despite an earlier review that complained about high prices, I'm from California and I found the prices here are comparable or LESS! than I'm paying not far from the San Fernando Valley. Loved their "Nature" section with a great selection of "health food" store items. Buffalonians, you can't imagine how lucky you are to have Wegman's. read more

My first Wegman's experience was even better then I could have imagined. Fresh produce, great prices, fabulous staff!

This is the store I always went to when I was at Buffalo State and it is 1 of the best Wegmans stores in the area (after Alberta Dr, Sherdian Dr and McKinley). It has its own unique feel being in the city and of course has some of the nicest people to help you out. One thing I did learn is that the cafe is completely packed during lunchtime, especially during the college semesters. If you didn't get there by 12pm, you would not get a seat in some cases. It's a great store, and for any that have never gone to it, you should. And like 1 other poster said, if in Rochester, you must visit the Pittsford store. That is a totally different experience. read more
