He works near Buffalo Butchers and they have an excellent price on fresh ground 80/20 chuck. Actually, it looks like all their prices are great! They also have house made jerky and beef sticks. They must have a lot of different flavors because he's brought home three different kinds of each so far. They've all been very good! They gave him a flyer Saturday (3/21/26) that lists all their meat packages. Looks like some excellent deals! They also post their offerings and sales on their Instagram...there's a lot to try. I can't wait to grill one of their tri-tips! It's a very popular cut where I'm from and I was really excited to see that they carry it. I'll post updates when we try more. Forget the…read moreawful grocery store meats, we have an actual butcher shop that makes their sausages, both Italian and Polish onsite, along with smoked meats ( smoked right there, too!) and beautifully marbled steaks and roasts. The hamburger ( meatloaf mix for my meatballs ) is done right there. So much more as well. I believe I spotted a plethora of jerky too! If you're familiar with Traeger, they sell the pellets and spices ! I spoke with the owners Chris and Jake who have a long history of being in the meat industry and are very knowledgeable about their products and decided to open here in Depew. This place is located at the opposite end of where Joeys pizza. The second most important part of Buffalo Butchers aside from the quality meats is the price . They out price grocery store meats by far ! I ended up walking out of there with about 12 pounds of freshly cut meat ( preparing for Christmas dinner ) and I couldn't be happier. Also one last note... check out the hours ... open all weekend... PERFECT!

The store has been here near 40 years. My friend Dena who lives across the street from Bob's...I mean Jd's always calls it Bob's, so be patient with me. This store first came to my attention when it was in the news a lot, after the Price-rite chain came to town. But that is ancient history now. Anyway, after a short visit with my friend, I hobbled across the street to...Jd's. Yes, very friendly people there, and helpful. There was not a large selection of fresh produce, but what there was looked fresh and the prices were very compatible with my shopping experiences earlier this week. I bought a beautiful apple for 54¢. Dena always brags on their meats. There were some very nice cuts of beef, some sausages, some pork chops, wings, also some salads. I'm not a big beef eater, so I asked if they had ground pork. The woman said we can grind it for you. I said I'd like a pound. It was nicely wrapped in white butcher paper. The freezer section had a lot of frozen meats, things that had been prepared into patties and meatballs, all ready to take home to your freezer. On my way to the checkout, I spied a bag of dry large lima beans, so I grabbed that, too. I've been making a lot of soups lately. On the downside, the store is small and parking is street only. The upside there is that they do deliver, citywide, I think. And there is a website. The big plus for me was the ground pork I bought there. When I got home, I unwrapped it in order to divide into two half-pound containers for freezing. Beautiful. I have never seen such lean and good looking ground pork. At $3.82 for my package, it might have been a few cents more than the fatty ground pork I used to buy. I'll definitely go back to Jd's for that. Learning a bit about the hot dog, I learned that it was a favorite up in upstate New York and came from Buffalo, New York. Upstate New York seems to know good hot dogs. First, they have Sahlen's hot dogs, which I am reviewing here, as well as the fantastic Hofmann's hot dogs. I know people think either New York City or Chicago when they think hot dogs, but let me say, upstate New York is worthy of culinary accolades just on the power of both Sahlen's and Hofmann's and their fantastic hot dogs. Sahlen's has both beef hot dogs and a pork and beef blend hot dog. Both are fantastic and your favorite will be determined y your taste or by your mood on that particular day. As a rule, I usually prefer the pork and beef blend hot dogs, but will be in the mood for an all beef hot dog here and there. I keep both in my freezer. If you have Sahlen's hot dogs in your supermarket, I recommend checking them out. I give them five stars.

This was a primary ham for Harris Teeter, but the Boar's Head, a bigger brand but not the flavor pushed them out. Then I moved to NC and joy's of joy's, Walmart had Sahlen's. Now Prima Della, a lower quality product is pushing them out. So if you are a lucky one and live in an area with Sahlen's smoke house ham, do yourself a favor and buy some. Make yourself a ham sandwich or a Cuban sandwich with roast pork. That and a cold Sam Adams and you will be in food heaven.
