She explains her thought process, pushes back if she thinks something will turn out poorly, and offers alternative ideas instead. She is exceedingly kind. She took the time out of her morning to help me get ready for an urgent/surprising event. Could not have pulled it off without her. I showed June a picture and she cut it exactly as I wanted and even better! It's very affordable here at $28 for my medium length to almost shoulder length hair cut. My husband pays $23 (not including tip). Definitely recommend this place! I chose not to get it washed to save money and I can do that at home anyways. The bad: I suspect anything that is *not* a $15 haircut that takes 10 minutes is gambling with your hair at New Age Salon. My wife specifically chose New Age for a perm, assuming they would have experience with Asian hair. She showed the stylist a photo of exactly what she wanted. I attached it here. The stylist set the perm and put my wife in a chair for slightly more than four hours. (We are not complaining about the time involved, by the way. This is normal for a perm.) After unwrapping my wife's hair, the stylist insisted on not drying it and told her to let her hair air dry. (Point is she left with wet hair, unable to see the finished perm.) Bill for this perm: $220. We went out to eat afterwards and I took a photo of the completed work. That's the second photo I attached. As you can see, what she asked for / paid for and what she received are two very different things. I suggest coming here for a quick $15 haircut. Not a perm.

She had it timed perfectly so I never felt like I was waiting for her to finish something with the other person. I felt like she was very attentive to my comfort, checking on me to move foil around and out of my face. She is very easy to talk to, but also is comfortable with silence. I didn't feel like I had to keep chatting unless I wanted to. I really appreciated this quality as some stylists just make me feel exhausted when I leave from all the talking. She uses high quality products and her salon has a clean and modern design. I was actually comfortable at the sink when she washed my hair. Pretty much every salon sink I have ever used has given me a sore neck. I was and still am very happy with my hair. I seriously felt amazing when I walked out with the styling she did. When I went home and washed it, it dried into a more shag inspired cut. There's a big difference between what I requested and the choppy and uneven cut I got. It's a hard haircut to disguise and my confidence has taken a blow. I spoke to Annie over the phone, and at my mention of the cut being a shag like she accused me of further cutting it once I had gotten home and told me she felt I was gaslighting her. This was within the first two minutes of our call and was really jarring. I offered to send her a photo to show what I was talking about but she refused, stating she'd only look in person. Her accusations were uncalled for and disrespectful, and I wasn't comfortable going back. I then spoke to the owner, Casey, and expressed how upsetting this was to experience. She ignored it entirely, gave no apology, and tried to reschedule me, even though it was obviously an issue that affected me wanting to return. I understand their policy requires them to look at the cut in person, but nobody would want to go in after being called a liar and a gaslighter. I said I was uncomfortable seeing her for my hair if she thinks this kind of treatment towards a client warrants no apology from the business. She came back with "our policy does not include refunds for non apologies." Overall, I'm shocked at the lack of professionalism and unnecessary snarkiness from the both the stylist and owner. Their website states they value creating a safe and comfortable environment for their clients, and review responses say that they hold their guest experiences to a very high standard. This could not be farther from what I experienced as a disappointed yet polite customer. Accusing clients of gaslighting and lying does not foster this kind of "safe" environment, and refusing to apologize for this kind of experience does not make customers trust you and want to come sit in your chair. I feel like this could have been avoided with a genuine apology on behalf of anyone involved.

I am a regular at Drybar Birmingham and I've been going there consistently for about 4 to 5 years…read more I do, however, stop into this location in Ann Arbor a few times a year as well. This location is much larger than the one in Birmingham. As far as hair goes, it can be very hit or miss. I've had amazing blowout that have lasted days and I've had other blowout that it doesn't even look like I did anything to my hair. The customer service has always been absolutely amazing and the shop manager has always try to make everything right. If you are here for a photo shoot for an important event, I would recommend requesting a senior stylist. Overall, I'm fairly happy with another Drybar location in the area! The managers at both Drybar locations and the district manager have always been amazing.
