So I want to start this by saying that I wouldn't be able to write enough wonderful things about Jackie Murphy and her service as a day-of wedding coordinator, so you can take my review and multiply it by 10!
I found Jackie through Google; my fiance and I got married in Camarillo, so I tried to find vendors that were mainly in or close to that area so that I could cut down on any traveling fees (you can call me a budget-conscious bride..). Luckily for me, even though I think I searched "Ventura County Wedding Coordinator," Google took me to Jackie and Weddings with Insight. Her website is bright and cheery, which is exactly what you would want in someone who is in the wedding industry. I set up an initial meeting; Jackie drove all the way from LA to Long Beach to meet with me. The meeting went really well and I felt super comfortable with Jackie - more like grabbing coffee with an old friend instead of interviewing a wedding vendor!
I was a bit of an early bird, so a little bit of time went by before I started really working with Jackie. But she was on it - sending me emails and gathering all the necessary paperwork and information from me so that she could start making contact with all of our vendors. As someone who usually takes care of everything herself, it was a little different shooting off emails to Jackie that said "oh, will you ask this person this question" or "will you make sure to coordinate this important thing with this vendor." But Jackie always responded promptly with answers and communicate with everybody that I needed her to.
The day of the wedding went off without a hitch! I had a migraine headache the night before my wedding, so I did "get sick" (throw up for those less-sensitive readers) a couple of times; when I told Jackie about it, she showed up at the hotel room with Sprite and crackers to settle my stomach!
The only thing that went remotely not-according-to-plan was a minor issue with the reception table rentals (I thought it was through our caterer, turned out not, anyway..) and when Jackie called me she was so cool, calm, and collected, that I hardly even cared about the mix-up. Granted, the solution was really easy and pain-less, so that helped too, but Jackie assured me that she would talk to the right people to make sure my guests had tables to eat at.
The whole day Jackie was completely there for me as well as our bridemaids and groomsmen. From fixing a pair of moustache glasses (you'll have to ask Jackie about it) to handing out mints and tissues to being on her hands and knees using a hand-held vacuum to clean the carpet in the bride's room, Jackie was there! I really felt like I had so much support on the most important day of my life, and it's all due to Jackie.
My (now) husband and I tried really hard to support people that we knew through our wedding - our DJ and photographer were cousins of our friends, our florist was a friend of the family.. I don't know any wedding coordinators, so that was one job I had to "outsource." If you hire Jackie to be involved in your wedding in any capacity, you will feel like you have a good friend by your side. Jackie is seriously the sweetest, and if it wasn't so expensive, I would have another wedding just so I could have the chance to work with her again!
Jackie - thank you for all of your hard work on our special day. You helped to make it absolutely perfect :) read more
