He was the DJ and MC for our wedding, handled the lighting on top of that, and coordinated with a colleague to create an amazingly produced mashup for our surprise first dance. We hired Just Dance events for our August 17th wedding. We had John (DJ Vallon) as our DJ/MC. From our initial interview/meeting with him, it was very clear that he had lots of experience and knew what he was talking about. To us, having a great DJ/MC for our wedding was one of the most important things - we wanted someone who knew what they were doing and could keep the night (and the fun) flowing. From Day 1 it was clear we had made the right decision. John was very professional and easy to work with. He was even helpful in making timeline recommendations during the planning process that would help the night flow even better. We gave him a list of music selections and he took care of the rest. With all the stress that comes with planning a wedding, it was a huge relief that we didn't have to worry about John. From the moment he started, he kept the energy high at our reception. He knew how to get EVERYONE on the dance floor and keep them there. We received feedback from many of our guests that it was one of the most fun weddings that they had ever been to. 4/5 stars- DJ 3.5 stars- MC PROs -Good music. DJ Ryan was good at keeping in theme with most of the types of music that we liked. -Good at keeping our guests on the dance floor. I think Ryan would get on the dance floor to lead group dances, if needed. I know some of our older guests asked for ballroom music, but I'm glad he didn't yield to their request as it was a select few. -Coordinating an activity that split his attention 3-way. -Bringing an assistant for a large reception to help him out. CONs -Late. A few of the DJ/MCs we interviewed usually show up 2-3 hours prior to the event for setup. Ryan told us he will try to be there 2 hours prior to our event. 1 week before the reception, he changed it to 1.5 hours prior to the event reiterating that he would come to us to touch base with us first when he got there as he knew we had a photo shoot 1 hour prior to the event. He got there late so we rushed through instructions (i.e. setup of equipment, dance instructions, etc.) which caused us to be late for our photo shoot. -Incorrect Announcement. Though I sent Ryan a detailed spreadsheet with the schedule of events and spoke to him on the phone about it, which he seemed to understand well at the time, he incorrectly announced: 1. the time of an event 2. after we asked him to correct it, which he did, he incorrectly added that we were exiting even though there was still 1 hour left at the reception. Our guests were so confused that they ended up leaving early thinking we were leaving, which was sad because we didn't get to spend as much time with some of our friends. Overall, our guests had fun, but they did say they were confused by the announcement. PS- We provided this constructive feedback to Ryan afterwards via email (which he is responsive to), but haven't heard back. read more

Chris was our DJ from Just Dance Events, and we just couldn't be happier with the level of high quality service he provided in advance and the day of our wedding. I've been in multiple weddings, and I have never seen a DJ who is SO committed to not only creating a fun and engaging environment, but tending to my groom and I's every need. He even helped our photographer set up shots! Every break we had during photo time, he was there holding my champagne or a beer for my groom. During dinner/speeches, he was clear with what was going on, what was going to happen next, etc, but never rushed us through anything. I was pretty picky about what music NOT to play at our wedding (I can't handle cheesy wedding songs) and he found a good mix that everyone could dance to, and used the songs that I really wanted to hear in well placed spots. He even came by our after party to celebrate with us, he felt like a friend at the end of the night and we were so happy to have such a great DJ and person be a part of our wedding. Simply put, he was the best investment of the night!!! What more can I say that hasn't already been said of Ryan and Just Dance? Can't say enough great things about Ryan. He was the MC and DJ for our special night and one of our favorite vendors to work with! Quite a number of my guests commented how great he was. He kept the entire evening moving and controlled the night. With a flip of Ryan's switch the crowd of 180 was full of energy. Couldn't have asked for better atmosphere for the night. Because of him, most people stayed til the very end of the night. We didn't have to worry about a thing, which was a great relief. Ryan offered to help our song selection as much or as little as we would like. Since we were busy with everything else, we selected a few of our favorites and left everything in his hands. I can't believe how awesome Chris is. Not only as a dj, but as a friendly leader to a group of people who don't know what is coming up next (our guests), a problem solver (when our game questions disappeared), a great accommodator (helping us figure out how to personally serve cake to each of our guests), and timely music provider (my mid-song pop music as I walked down the aisle with my dad started perfectly on time and he managed to not make it sound cut off when we were ready to start the ceremony). Chris did so much more than be a great dj. He made sure our drinks didn't get lost- literally picking them up off the table after I set them down, and giving them back between having our photos taken by our photographer. He followed my fiance and I with bottles of water. It was like magic, as soon as I finished one he had the next opened and ready for me and still cold! Throughout the night he made sure Harold and I were happy by checking in on us, and reminded us "hey, this is YOUR wedding. If you still need time to eat/talk with guests/drink coffee, just let me know. You need to enjoy yourselves, everything else can wait." Our guests thought he was just as awesome. They liked his voice, appreciated his clear and timely announcements, and how amicable he was on the mic. He was able to lead our guests without harsh and random announcements. It kept our night going smoothly. I should also say, in addition to being spectacular on the day of- he was just as easy going when meeting him in person. His company is organized, leverages a website to keep your wedding clear and planned out (he didn't miss a single song), and prompt with followup. He reminded us of due dates we needed to meet for choosing songs, he helped us figure out what we needed to move music smoothly from location to location during our wedding, and in the most cost efficient way. Also, my fiance and I HAD to smile when we looked at him rocking out on the dance floor. It was like we had hired a friend who already loved the same music we loved. He was singing, dancing, and transitioning seamlessly from song to song. Loved it. He really made our night special- it truly wouldn't have been the same without him. Make an intro meeting with him- he will make the rest of your decisions for your wedding day so much easier. DJ, EMCEE, LIGHTING, PHOTOBOOTH- Just Dance Events has it all! DJ Ryan Damron worked our wedding in May and he was nothing short of amazing! Our dance floor was ALWAYS packed with our guests of all ages. His song selection was perfect! The vibe he created was so infectious, even if someone didn't know the song, they didn't want to leave the dance floor. We couldn't have asked for a better DJ! As the MC, he was top-notch. He looked great and held our guests' attention without being obnoxious or cheesy,....which seems to be the MO of DJ I have seen at other weddings. We loved how he would come up to us to make sure we were ok, if we needed anything, and to let us when the next event, ie father/daughter dance etc, would be coming up or if he thought we should change to order of something. Everything went smoothly and we had a blast. The lighting was fabulous and truly transformed our reception room. If you are debating whether to include a lighting package...don't...just do it! It makes a world of difference. We are still receiving compliments on great our room looked. We were so impressed with his professionalism and attention to detail....from our meeting with him to our actual event. During the toasts, he discreetly brought up a box of tissues when the maid of honor started to tear up and same thing when my Dad was up there and didn't a glass in hand to toast us. At our meetings with Ryan listened to our ideas and was great with feedback on what he thought would work and gave suggestions when he thought we could do something differently, which we really appreciated. The online planner JDE provides was so helpful! We were able to see the timeline we created with Ryan and enter song selections and note "must play", "play if possible", and "do not play." ((He did not play any of our do not play songs...even though we had some guests request them.)) We were also able to select and change our important songs ie mother/son dance etc. We love that the planner also listed top wedding songs to help give us some ideas. The photobooth was the perfect addition to our reception! Our guests loved it and both young and old took their turn in there. JDE had the funnest props to use as well. The photos were priceless! Ryan had suggested to us to bring a scrapbook and pens to have our guests glue a photo strip and write us a message to keep as a memento. That scrapbook is one of our most cherished things from our wedding. It was such a treat to have photos right after the wedding since it takes a few weeks to see photos from your photographer. It was a little risky, but Ryan's professionalism and attentive communication shortly put me at ease. He drove quite a ways to meet in person with me about a month before our wedding and was so knowledgable of his craft and welcoming of my vision. We hired Ryan as our DJ and MC for the reception and he was awesome! Ryan is extremely flexible with what you want. He can be conservative to getting down on the dance floor if that's what you want. He made sure to ask what sort of atmosphere we wanted to have for our wedding. It was easy to plan meetings with him (we usually used Skype or Google Hangout since it was more convenient for us), but he made sure to tell us that he was readily available through email and phone as well. i played in a band for my friends' wedding at the LA River Center and Gardens this weekend. the groom specifically chose John based on the venue's recommendation that he did sound there frequently and could set up for a live band. listen, there were a lot of things John couldn't figure out (including getting power to half the band and routing us through the speakers--you know, the things that make a band audible). but despite his incompetence at something he was hired to do, if John had a better attitude i wouldn't be leaving a review. he seemed unwilling to help at every turn and made our job a lot harder. despite my attempts to smile and be polite to him even after the whole fiasco, he still scowled and was very short with me, not even responding to my questions half the time. it sounds like everyone else who's reviewed him had a great experience, so maybe he's awesome just as a DJ, but don't hire him if you expect anything outside of that. sounds like Ryan is pretty cool, though. 8/27 - UPDATE!!! i'm updating my review because at the end i said, "sounds like Ryan is pretty cool." i was basing that off all of the 5-star reviews where people mentioned him by name. soon after posting the review, Ryan sent me a private message claiming that i could cause him a "serious potential loss of business" (i doubt that since they still have 5 stars). he asked that i call the DJ, John, and "work out our differences." he was also concerned that my review seemed "very personal" and not reflective of everyone else's night. (i didn't have the heart to tell him that the entire point of Yelp is to post personal experiences.) as i was crafting a polite response to Ryan's polite (if misguided) message, he posted a public comment on my review. i guess since i didn't respond within a couple of hours, his attitude turned sour. i'm editing this into my original review instead of clicking "update" because i didn't want to give them another 1-star review and cost him millions of dollars in potential clients. anyway, like i said, Ryan seems pretty cool! read more

We hired Ryan for our wedding at the Langham for both ceremony and reception as DJ and MC, and he was very professional and did an excellent job. He selected great music meeting the style we were looking for based on only a few example songs we gave him, got the right mix of staying in the background running the music when appropriate, MCing on the mic for the speeches creating a smoothly flowing but energetic reception, and also creating some fun running the reception games and even leading people on the dance floor! He also provided great lighting, and AV equipment for our slide show, and was adaptable and worked with the groomsman during setup when we had a last minute AV compatibility issue. We booked Just Dance Events for our wedding in September. Ryan was our DJ/MC and was so awesome! We knew we wanted to work with him from the first time we met for a consultation. I actually found him on Yelp because of his high rating. I hadn't seen any advertisements for him on the usual wedding websites, but after working with him, I can completely understand why he doesn't need to advertise. I'm sure his word-of-mouth recommendations have him booked up! He was so personable and easy to work with, and also provided a lot of services for a great price. Through JDE, we had Ryan for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception to handle the music/MC duties, and they also provided dance floor lighting. We also added on the photo booth package through JDE and it was such a hit! Our guests had so much fun taking pictures with all the props (also provided by JDE) and we asked guests to put a copy of their picture with a message in our guestbook. It was so hilarious to look through all the pictures after it was complete. Ryan also mailed us a digital copy of all the pictures taken in the booth that night, but we are still trying to get through them all. Our friends and family went a little overboard with photo booth---luckily for us the package was for unlimited photo strips! I never realized how busy a DJ would be, but Ryan handled it all so easily. He kept us and our wedding party on track all night. He made sure we were all where we need to be, when we needed to be there, and helped with advice on the general timeline for weddings. We, along with our guests, were so impressed with the music he was playing as well. We already had a fun group of people as guests, but EVERYONE was on the dance floor for most of the night. Ryan played the perfect songs, at the perfect times. So many of our friends told us that night that the "DJ is amazing!" and they are still calling to tell us it the best wedding ever. They also have a planning website where you can manage everything online. As a very organized bride, I loved being able to upload my timeline, wedding party information, and any song requests (and "Do Not Play" songs!) so easily. Another small, but important thing that we liked about JDE was that the payments were so easy to make! I made the initial payment by credit card when I signed the contract, but after that I was able to make PayPal payments right through his planner website. It was so much easier than having to write a check or get cash or a money order. You wouldn't think that was so important, but when you're in the final weeks of planning and have a million things to do, it makes a huge difference. As if we weren't happy enough with the service we received from JDE, Ryan and his business partner both contacted me the following week to make sure I was happy and everything had gone as planned. Ryan was our DJ for our wedding in June and I have to say that hiring Ryan was the best decision ever! From the moment we met Ryan, he was friendly and very informative. We gave him our budget and he was willing to work with it. Working with him was easy; a simple email to him and all my questions were answered. On the day of our wedding, he showed up, was dressed professionally, and he delivered! He played all the songs on our must play list plus some that we're requested by our guests and he even got on the dance floor to show us some moves to a dance! He was also the emcee for the wedding and he kept all our guests entertained and the lighting job they did was perfect! My venue was outdoors and lighting was an issue but he did an amazing job. Chris Mowery from Just Dance was fantastic. The website is very easy to use and it helps keep you and your DJ organized. As far as the DJ, Chris, He was able to keep our wedding at the vibe we imagined. He knew how to get the party on their feet and stay on the floor. Not only his skills as a DJ proved to be a wise choice but his help during the reception was above and beyond what was expected. He helped in more ways than just keeping the party going but he went that extra mile by helping during photos. Ryan was a fantastic DJ for our wedding on numerous levels. First, an extremely professional guy who worked with us on our "vision" for the wedding reception music. He was accommodating when we were hands-off at the beginning of planning, and even more accommodating as became more hands-on at the last minute. Second, at the wedding itself he was a terrific emcee, taking last changes to the agenda in stride and helping keep things flowing smoothly. We really didn't have to worry about anything except enjoying ourselves and mingling with friends. He was very discreet but still came by on occasion to see if he could help with anything, which was awesome. Finally, he was an ideal DJ, playing background music we wanted that truly flowed together. We actually dispensed with a dance floor at the last minute (daytime wedding, moved all the tables indoors), but his lighthearted music still had our 2-year old daughter dancing on her own. At the end, as a mark of true professionalism, he kept the music playing even as the vendors came early to start stacking the chairs, because there were still a group of us still mingling. Terrible form on the part of the chair vendors, but kudos to Ryan for keeping the reception alive until the end. Well done Ryan, thanks for all your help in making our wedding a success. read more

Chris was an amazing DJ and Emcee! We told him to expect a crowd of young and old who would already want to get on the dance floor, but he kept them there all night. Excellent balance of music to keep everyone happy. As for taking care of me, the bride, Chris was like a ninja with radar, appearing out of thin air with a cocktail for me in hand before dancing off into the crowd. There was zero interruption to the party flow, but always aware of the details to keep us happy! If there were any issues that evening, I didn't know about them. The party went on well into the night and Chris just fit in like a friend at the party! Just Dance Events arranged for our uplighting, which really added to the ambiance. We also had our ceremony in a different space than our reception and needed a second DJ to cover it. Even though we did not meet this second DJ in advance, he nailed all of our songs for the ceremony and it was awesome. read more

Ryan was phenomenal and instrumental in making our reception special. He was easy to contact before the event wand was open to ideas and incredibly informative and experienced. He put together an amazing playlist for our wedding, and several of our guests complimented us on the music selection as well as his outgoing demeanor and personality. He lent his hand in all aspects of the wedding including instructing us on the cake cutting, bouquet/garter tosses, first dance, and group shots. John did a great job dj'ing our wedding at the Long Beach Museum of Art. We were both very impressed at how he was able to incorporate our own requests (that we made through a pretty easy to use website), with other songs that fit the vibe of the night. He really knew how to play a wide range of music that appealed to different groups in a pretty seamless fasion. Since the wedding, we have been getting a lot of positive feedback from our guests about our DJ.They especially loved the trivia game that John came up with during dinner. Most importantly, he was able to go with the flow. Our reception started a little late, but John was able to adapt and only asked us questions that were absolutely necessary. There was never any stress involved. I would defintely recommend John for any wedding reception/party. His price was reasonable, and his performance was excellent. read more
