We wanted a very small private wedding at our house on very short notice.  Minister Hayne was so great at answering all our questions, making sure we were getting all our questions answered at the county courthouse, and she had awesome suggestions for the ceremony and for how to ensure things went smoothly.  The day of the ceremony she was early, very organized, and did a lovely ceremony that included that we've been together for years and included our daughter.  It was perfect and heartwarming.  She was really amazing at orchestrating pictures.  I am horribly un-photogenic normally, and all her pictures of us are so beautiful!  She was very personable and easy to work with.  We really recommend her! read more

Were were lucky enough to have Terry as the officiant at our wedding in Half Moon Bay this September. We had started working with Terry about 6 months before and had exchanged lots of emails and had met in person. All of the preparations left us knowing Terry was going to be great of the day and he was. It is great when you can "tick" something off your preparation list and have no doubt it's going to be great, and all you have to do now is look forward to the day and actually enjoy the ceremony. We are not religious, and in fact we were already married before the wedding, so really this part of the day could have just been a formality that you had to do, then everyone could get on with the fun parts of a wedding, like eating and drinking too much. The reality was Terry made his short part the focal point for the whole day. We had originally hoped that Terry would read our vows out, because neither of us likes speaking in public, but on the day before, Terry let us know that he thought it best if we read them out as they were so personal. This was a bit of a shock, but in the end, Terry was right, we agreed, and it really made a big impact. The ceremony was funny, serious, meaningful and special. It was a pleasure working with Terry. Like others have said, we really hope we don't have to use Terry again as this marriage is forever :-) but I would give him the highest recommendation to anyone looking for a wedding officiant for their special day. read more

I had already created a ceremony with my first officiant, and Terry let me use the same ceremony. On the wedding day, Terry showed up on time and even gave me a call before walking down the aisle to make sure I was relaxed and ready. When he read the ceremony, he did it flawlessly, putting a wonderful personality into it. There were plenty of good things that happened on our wedding day. Obviously, me and my husband professed our love to one another. Among the many other great things that happened to us on that day, Terry was one of them. From the first time we met with him, he was a genuinely nice person. He catered our wedding to what we wanted it to be, not what he thought we should do. That was a big selling point for us. On our wedding day, he made the event pleasurable and was even patient when the DJ showed up late. He was calm and understanding which helped to alleviate some of the stress caused by the DJ being late. Terry was beyond great. Like others said, his website provides many useful information that are presented upfront. We immediately felt he was the right person for our wedding after watching the video. We didn't do rehearsal together and only used email to confirm the vows. We met on the wedding day for the first time and he was able to use the things we talked about at the start point immediately during the ceremony. He knew what to say at the right time and had very good control of the atmosphere. His speech about love and how a couple should support each other was like passing on his experience to us. In the very short time we met, he really made us feel connected to him. We were busy taking pictures and getting ourselves prepared for the first dance so we didn't take a picture with him, which I kinda regretted.... many many guests were impressed by Terry and asked us how we found him. Their team is an absolute God-send and I just don't know where to begin with this review because so many things were just absolute perfection on our special day.... First off, the back-and-forth communication between Debra Hass.... From the very first email, she listened to what we wanted and how we needed to accommodate my ailing father. Then, she laid out all the basic guidelines and license info we had to do before the ceremony date. Then, we corresponded by phone a few times, discussing floral design and color scheme. After that, she sent a final confirmation via email, outlining all the specifics that were going to happen on our special day. Everything in writing was there and in "black-and-white," so it was easy to follow, clear, and concise. No flamboyant language to confuse you when confirming a contract. Straight-forward and very professional. The big day.... Terry, the officiant, had this amazing, calm aura about him. A lot of nerves were in the air for the bride and groom, but as soon as he began the ceremony with his words of wisdom for a happy marriage ... all the fear dissipated. Absolutely emotional and not a dry eye in the house. He even included humor in his sermon on a marital bond of companionship... we all know how important that is, and Terry just nailed it! From inviting all our guests to say something, to our beautiful and faithful vows, and to even pronouncing us as husband and wife WITH ALL OUR GUESTS... Terry just made it so special for us!! It felt so personal and true, and that's exactly what we wanted. My father also suffers from Diabetes and liver failure.... after the ceremony, my father felt very overwhelmed and weak and Terry went OUT OF HIS WAY to go to the store to grab my father a snack and back to the site's parking lot where my parents were waiting, while I and my new husband stayed back on the beach, taking pictures with the photographer. To have Terry do such a kind thing and to make sure WE, the bride and groom, didn't worry or stress... that sweet and caring gesture will forever be remembered of Terry Plank, the officiant for Weddings By The Sea. It was so thoughtful and it is SO very appreciated! Our photographer, Mike A. Wong, arrived early to make sure the lighting for our pictures were just right. Very friendly and outgoing and spoke to all our guests (total of 6 people attended). Had a style of his own when directing us through the photo-taking. His ideas for our photos really shined through the wedding photos, too.. It was our own and we had so much love that day. You could just tell that it was a special day for everyone involved! The turnaround.... Boy, Mike hand-delivered our digital CD of our photos within 4 days of our wedding ceremony! FOUR DAYS!!!!! Absolutely useless vendor at ridiculous rates. I called to check rates.service and was disappointed with how trumped up this operation is.You will NOT get what you are paying for. Hardly unique - he is NOT doing you a favor by personalizing your ceremony. A little too big for his friar shoes. I wonder if the other reviews are written by adoring family/friends and acquanitances. Repeat - he is an officiant - not a photographer, videographer. It should not cost almost $400 for 15 minutes of bookreading and a few eye contact grins over the top of his glasses. wow - a plane flew over - tense - what a recovery...come on! read more
