Reverend Tim Mills was an excellent choice to officiate our wedding. We spoke with several other officiants prior to Tim, and while I'm sure most of them would have been great, Tim was the right guy for the job! There are several reviews about his impressive voice, which at first I thought must be overstated, but WOW! From the second he picked up the phone we were impressed. He was very hands off in the planning process, and had several optional items to include (think a prayer, traditional vows, personal vows, a reading etc.) and we loved his idea to read personal stories that we wrote for the ceremony instead of having us recite our own vows in front of all of our guests. Overall we opted for a shorter ceremony, but Tim gave an excellent performance and had a great sense of comedic timing without making the ceremony seem like a stand up routine. Upon helping a friend plan her wedding a couple years ago I heard Reverend Tim's voice on a videographer's website and knew immediately he would be the one to officiate my wedding one day. Fast forward to when it was my turn to get married I reached out to him 13 months in advance (I was very eager to lock down our date, Ha). Reverend Tim was very personable and easy to get along with during our first meeting. He remained professional yet pleasant during all of our correspondence leading up to the wedding. I very much appreciated that he responded to all emails in a timely manner. Going into our initial meeting I was very reluctant to the idea of including personal stories in our ceremony, as I had seen it done horribly in other weddings in the past. After the meeting we left committing to doing it based on Reverend Tim's suggestion. I spent the next 10 months still opposed and in complete avoidance of the task. I emailed him a couple months before the wedding saying that because we were writing our vows I didn't really think it was necessary to also do the personal stories. His response was "if you do write personal stories the ceremony will stand out as the best many of your guests have ever witnessed" - BOY WAS HE WAS RIGHT! We had so many compliments on the ceremony. So many people stated it was the best they'd ever seen. My advice to future engaged couples is to listen and do what the man says, you won't regret it! Reverend Tim Mills was amazing! We hired him as our officiant after initially meeting him at McDonald's restuarant in Tara Hills (it's walking distance from his home). He's done so many weddings to where he has everything all planned out for you. All you need to provide him is your input on how to customize it to your liking and a short story from each individual on how you met. Tim provided a sample template on what he'd say at your wedding for your awareness. He didn't attend our wedding rehearsal, but we weren't worried since he reassured us he knew what to do and where to be at our wedding. On the day of the wedding, Tim arrived at the venue on time and very we'll-prepared. He checked in with me to ensure he pronounced our names correctly. Tim also provided me with some pointers on what not to do at the altar. He also suggested to our videographer to have us mic'd up rather than having a handheld mic for picture purposes. Tim's voice carries which easily got our guests' attention when he spoke. He was quite entertaining that had our guests laughing and at times in tears. When it was time to kiss my bride, he made sure to step aside so that we could have a perfect picture of just us two. We hoped for Tim to stay for dinner, but he left shortly after pictures and finalizing the wedding certificate. Tim has it all figured out in how to help make your wedding as perfect as possible. Rev. Tim came recommended by a few online wedding services. He has a pared-down script of a perfect length while still incorporating our stories, which we wrote. On the big day, we would just have to say "I do", and all can enjoy his nicely timbered delivery in the gorgeous but echoey SF City Hall. However, we did not appreciate his officious comments and scoffing at our story, including: eye rolls, interjection of parenthetical "yeah right!", prefacing a poem reading with "this poem is commonly used", and ad-libbing a reductive summary of the poem's sentiment before reading it out to close the ceremony. Fortunately we're a mature couple with cool guests so we let it slide, and managed to have a blast on our special day. read more
