Back then, the care felt much more personalized and relationship-driven. As the practice has grown, unfortunately, that personal touch has diminished, and visits now feel more transactional. That said, the vets and staff are generally competent and friendly. However, my most recent visit left me feeling quite frustrated. The exam itself cost $100 -- a bit on the high side, but something I was willing to tolerate for quality care. What really upset me was the cost of the prescribed medication: 15 pills priced at $80. Out of curiosity, I looked it up online and found the exact same prescription, in the same dosage, available on Chewy for just $20. When I called to ask about the price difference, I was given an explanation about "economies of scale," which frankly doesn't hold up -- not at that level of markup. A 400% price increase over a reputable online retailer is excessive by any standard. While I still value the veterinary services and will continue to bring my pets here for medical care, I will no longer purchase medications directly from the clinic. It's unfortunate, because I would have gladly paid a reasonable premium for the convenience and to support the practice -- but this level of price inflation is simply not justifiable. I hope they reconsider their pricing structure in the future. Until then, I recommend getting prescriptions filled elsewhere.

Dropped him off at 8:30AM. They said to call around lunch to check on him as he needed to be anesthetized for the procedure. By 9:45AM, my personal phone was blowing up while I was on work calls on my other phone. Numerous messages were left asking me to call them immediately. One message stated that they over anesthetized my dog and could not resuscitate him. When I finally got a chance to call them to ask what was going on, the office manager had the audacity to tell me "Don't worry Mr. Auber, we are not going to charge you for the cleaning today" as if that was my biggest concern or even a thought at the moment. Finally spoke to the questionably qualified "Dr. A." who killed my dog. She said before they proceeded with the anesthetic, they ran routine blood work to make sure all was in order. Over the phone on speaker, she told my family that my dog's white blood cell count was high but ACE decided to proceed at risk. I asked for a copy of the blood work report and the blood work report shows his WBC was actually low. This changing in story as the morning progressed should raise flags in your opinion of using ACE as they obviously do not have true handle and straight story on a grave situation. Additionally, either high or low, no one from ACE called me directly and asked me if I wanted them to proceed at risk! So now my dog is dead at the hands of Dr. A and Animal Care Experts all over a basic tooth cleaning that wasn't necessarily needed! He wasn't 15 years old going in for a heart procedure! They then told me they would like to send Graham to a partner animal hospital of theirs to have a Necropsy (Autopsy) performed. I quickly shut them down and said you are sure not sending him to one of your partner hospitals (as the cynic in me feared the necropsy results would favor ACE to no wrong doing). I made sure they sent my deceased beloved dog to Tufts Animal Hospital in Grafton and when I directed them to send him there, you could hear their voices tremble! I further asked about cremation planning for after the necropsy was completed and again, ACE, in amazingly cold hearted fashion initially stated that they will email me a list of websites that do animal cremations and I can set it up and pay on line if I wish. Ultimately, ACE was putting the cost of the cremation of my pet back on me. How negligent, reckless, and heartless can one place be in the span of half a day!!! By the end of the day, they eventually came around and offered to cover the cremation and have him returned to ACE for my pick up. But once I mentioned I had spoken to an animal rights attorney, they quickly turned face and said I could go pick up my cremated dog on my own time and they don't want me on their property any longer. Their insurer, Hanover Insurance, called me a few days later and quickly informed me that in the state of Connecticut, a pet is considered "property" just like the fence in your yard. The vet is responsible for basically nothing and can go on negligently killing dogs at minimal cost to them or their insurer!!! So heed caution when choosing ACE in Thompson CT when there are 5 other vets within 4 miles north of there in Webster MA. At least in Mass, the Vets have reason for being held accountable and to not "proceed at their own risk"! Please spread the word as I have far and wide in our local community about the negligence wielded by Dr. A. and Animal care experts! Don't let your loving perfect dog or cat be next!

When the ear pain worsened after a few days, I went to this clinic again. I didn't give up when they wanted to make an appointment for me only in 3 days. My dog needed help immediately. And only because the obvious infection was previously ignored. Effect? Yeast in both ears. Before this happened, I made an appointment for neutering. During a visit preparing for the procedure, and after checking my dog's teeth, Weissbach suggested removing the dental calculus in the neutering procedure, which I gladly agreed to, as it would spare the dog from having to go to anesthesia twice. However, after I dared to point out the doctor's lack of professionalism, it turned out that the earlier proposal to remove the calculus no longer valid. It was explained to me by a rude manager that it was impossible, that the doctor offered such a thing to me, that I must have understood it wrong, and that it was Dr. Weissbach word that counted, not mine. The whole conversation revolved around the opinion, unspoken loudly by the manager, but conveyed suggestively between the words, that I didn't understand because... English is not my native language. Due to such behavior, I did not allow the castration to be carried out, I took the dog and I will never go back there again. I should have done it several years earlier, when I went to them with my dog, which was suffering from severe stomach pain and refused to eat or drink. Since the dog is allergic, after examination the doctor said that it was definitely a consequence of allergies and prescribed him medications. The dog was still suffering, so we went to the emergency room at Tufts Hospital at night. And it turned out that the cause was not an allergy, but a bottle cap that my dog had swallowed. I cannot add that an intestinal sensitivity and gluten allergy, even though AEC took care of my dog, were diagnosed only by Tufts Hospital. Lack of professionalism, dishonesty, manipulation of facts, prejudice based on nationality, that's what happened to me. I think this place should be subjected to some control by a higher authority. I was puzzled and reminded him it needed to be checked for parasites; he nodded and said it will be sent out for testing. A week later I called for the results, having heard nothing and was informed I did not bring a sample with me. Subsequently, I received a call from the vet who apologized and said the stool sample had been discarded rather than sent out for testing. In the meantime a 2nd dog became ill and was hit harder, and lasted longer, than the virus had been for my puppy. I want to make it clear that in no way do I blame the vet. I repeated to the tech when the vet left the room that the sample had to be sent out and checked for parasites to which he confirmed knowing and was going to send it out to the lab. When I was ready to leave, this same tech helped me out to my car. I again reminded him the stool sample had to be checked for parasites to which he responded in the affirmative and said it was all set to go to the lab. His error resulted in almost a month's delay, obtaining a new sample, paying another veterinarian to send the sample for testing, on a rush basis, and getting a positive result for a particular parasite. My puppy is now being treated, finally! If I need the services of this clinic again I will certainly accept an appointment, but I will request the tech not be involved in any future appointments. They were late to the first appointment, took a long time to complete it. My dog was taken out of the room for a long time for a seemingly basic check up. When I came back for my next appointment that they scheduled back to back they said I was late and had to reschedule. No humanity, no care for the animals just someone on their phone never looking up telling me too bad. This used to be a good place but it just has fallen because of their hires. Unbelievably scary experience while walking my dog outside of my work today. I told them that I was 2 minutes away, he was blue and barely breathing and her response was, "Sorry, we do not accept new patients." ARE YOU &@$#%&# SERIOUS??? NEVER in my 25 years of working in Emergency Veterinary Medicine would I EVER, EVER refuse to see an animal in respiratory distress, especially to the point that they were blue. Thankfully, it was an acute reaction and Mendon Animal Clinic did not hesitate to ask me, "How long before you're here?" Those would have been my exact words if the role was reversed. Now that we have found Dr Augusto at Milford Animal Hospital, we couldn't be more pleased...he is gentle and reassuring...and knows his stuff. My dog had to have many teeth removed. There were no difficulties and now my 13 year old fur baby is like a new dog...happy, energetic, and always looking forward to his walk and food. There are not a lot of veterinarians who treat reptiles in the Worcester area, and I'm not sure how often they see reptiles in this office. However, based on my experience I would recommend Dr. Trosclair and Sutton Animal Hospital without hesitation.
