This brunch spot was one I wanted to try for a while and when I say they nailed their strawberries and cheesecake waffles man you would have to try them for yourself if your don't believe me. The restaurant itself was a whole experience from the paintings on the walls to the photo oops; I loved my time there. Waitstaff and wait time was exceptional, I went on a Wednesday afternoon not sure if that is the case for a weekend being it is a smaller venue. I had good experiences here before and I wanted to show my friends because of how aesthetically pleasing it was. I tried emailing for a reservation a few days before, but never heard back from them. I figured, no problem, I would go in 20 minutes before and ask for a reservation. I went in and they said it was no problem for 5 at 11 and that they would hold my table until my girls got there. (Originally I said 6, but found out it was for 5) I waited for 20 minutes until 11 and four out of my five were there and I was on the phone with the fifth because she was confused in the parking lot. A few small groups had come in (2 or 3) and they sat them immediately, I didn't think anything of it. My fifth finally joined us at 11:07, which the hostess said that she would no longer honor my table, because my group wasn't there at 11 and she had to sit others at the table she told me she was holding. Oh, and that I would have to wait another hour to an hour and a half. I, of course, was upset, but decided that this place wasn't worth it anymore. The added 20% gratuity, the overcharging for sides, AND now giving away a table because my friend was lost in the parking lot. I won't go back. Absolutely disappointed. I would've understood if she had said something before my friend arrived, like "hey, just so you know, we can't hold your table any more, but we will put you on the wait list now" but she waited until my friend got there to tell us and then put us on the waitlist. We went down to the Jagged Fork and were seated within 15 minutes and eating within 30. This restaurant is beautiful inside! A Pretty aesthetic and photo worthy. The day that we went it was crowded but it was a Sunday so that makes sense . We waited 40 minutes for a table, but overall the experience was good. Food did take a while, a little less than an hour but I was in no rush so I made the best of it. I had the chicken & waffles, a side of house potatoes, and side salmon croquette. The waffle was cold when I got it :( which I was disappointed but My server fixed it right away. The Chicken was flavorful and went perfectly with the waffles . The salmon croquette was the best one I've had from a restaurant in YEARS. Definitely recommend. To top it off I got the Mimosa flight which comes with 4 mimosas with the flavors of your choice . Prices are a bit high, but overall great experience . I wanted to LOVE this place! The food is delicious but the service could be better! We were service in plastic cups and Togo plates on the rooftop! Not what I expected from any establishment. I understand the cleanup and service could flow better and that helps the kitchen and staff but it hinders the experience immensely! The wait time for the food was lengthy as well. The decor here screams glam brunch spot! There are velvet chairs with gold legs, floral wallpaper and grass walls with neon signs galore. We heard there is a rooftop space that will be opening during the nicer weather season. The staff is friendly and upbeat. From the host stand to the table the energy is all positive with big smiles as if they are happy you came. Service is perfectly attentive without being too overbearing. First, the back entrance where one enters and wait to be seated is like being in an oven during a high temperature day. Secondly and the most important experience was the food, it was "AWFUL" and very disappointing. I ordered the chicken and waffle. The two chicken tenders were over fried, burnt and dry. The waffle was thin and resembled a frozen waffle. The shrimp and grits were beyond awful. The shrimp were the size of a quarter and the cheesy grits tasted like cornmeal with cheese wiz. There was a sprinkle of shredded cheese atop the grits. The fried green tomatoes were not good and the salmon croquets had more breading in it that overshadowed the salmon. I like the aesthetic of the restaurant, it's nicely decorated and clean. I ordered the chicken and waffle which was underwhelming. The chicken tasted like it wasn't seasoned and dropped in hot grease without some form of a coating. My friends ordered fish and grits and shrimp and grits. They both agreed that the portion size of the grits were large and tasted good however, my friend was disappointed that she had 4 small pieces of shrimp with her grits. Everyone enjoyed their mimosa flights was good as well. Now, Upon arrival there's a sign upon entry that advises you can't be seated until your entire party is present. My party was a party of 3, with 2 of us arriving first. We were advised that we were not going to be allowed to sit down although there was no waiting list, or anyone in the lobby aside from the two of us. We looked inside the restaurant and there was a large number of empty tables. We were asked if we could sit at the bar until the other person arrived and were told, "they don't like for people to do that." I think we got on the hostess's nerves so much that she eventually allowed us to sit at the bar and order drinks until the last person arrived. As an FYI, you can only be seated for 90 minutes. We were asked to leave because the waitress said she wasn't "making money" with us sitting in her area. We were actually there to celebrate a birthday and had planned to order additional drinks however, we left, and Upon exiting the restaurant into the lobby, there was no wait or anyone in the lobby although she told us there was. I think with some tweaks in the kitchen, customer service and "rules" this place has great potential. read more

First, let me just say the service was really good. I appreciate a friendly server and that is what we got. Also want to compliment how Instagram worthy the location is inside. The restaurant is very fun and bright and again looks great in photos. They've got some cool neon signs and the music they played the day I went took me back to my r&b '90s I was jamming while I was eating. On the flip side, I didn't love the food and I felt that the mimosas were more juice than champagne. The menu looked great. Me and my niece were both craving a seafood and grits meal. I ordered The Trifecta and my niece ordered the Fish & Grits. The ratio to fish/seafood and grits was not right. We had these huge bowls of cheese grits, probably four or five servings of grits with a very small amount of seafood on top. In my Trifecta the piece of salmon was so small, it was almost like a 1-in cube. And I had literally three shrimp, and they weren't the big shrimp. I have to be honest, $30 was very expensive for what the dish was. The fish & grits was also very light on the protein. It was smothered in a sauce that I think they use on several dishes. We ordered a side of loaded potatoes and we had to pay extra for bacon. It didn't have anything that made it "loaded" other than the same sauce that was also on the grits. That wasn't ideal and we weren't really pleased with it. Overall, this was a very expensive brunch for the quality of food and drink that was served. Honestly the worst place to have my type of breakfast or brunch , the floor was wet , table was moist and sticky . Server didn't get to us till 15 minutes after we sat . The entrance is a weird broken door . It might look aesthetically nice but it's cheap plastic they have up as Decoration. We had a veggie omelette that had rotten feta in it and the cook made the waitress bring out the 5 pound bucket of feta cheese to show us when they wouldn't listen to it being rotten. Not even half. Bite was taken out of the omelette and they charged us for it even after taking it. This is insane I've never experienced customer service like this ever. Don't go here . First visit to this restaurant. We were there on a Friday around 12 and were seated without any wait ( 2 in our party). There was a large group celebrating a birthday but it didn't interfere with the service we received or our dining experience at all. Our waitress was friendly and answered a couple of questions we had regarding the menu. We ordered Turkey Chops and the Seafood Omelette with grits(delicious). Both dishes were very good and we both agreed we would return to try some other dishes in the future. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that our waitress forgot our coffee. It was brought out promptly when we reminded her and was very good, but it came out with our meal so we weren't able to enjoy it beforehand. Food: good news, sausage and potatoes good. Had steak and eggs. Steak was rib eye. Asked for rare, it was well done. Shoe leather, would be kind evaluation. The taste was bad. We had a lovely brunch at this new spot at Northwestern and Orchard Lake Road. The server was friendly and attentive. We tried the chicken and waffles, and rich peach cobbler chicken and waffles. The chicken was tasty without being spicy and served at a nice hot temperature, and they offer sugar free syrup for those who prefer that. The dish with peach cobbler chicken and waffles was tasty and super filling, but definitely too saucy per another reviewer. The sauce should have been hotter. The coffee served was a nice blend, with plentiful refills. The prices were surprisingly high on the menu, but with the cost of even chicken these days we could see why. And the omelets seemed pricy but actually looked large enough to share, depending on your appetite. One was carried to another table that seemed to have a lobster tail sticking from it - wow! Good food. Poor service. I think they've still got a lot to figure out. To break it down further: The food is expensive, but I think that is okay since it was high quality food, and a lot of it. The service is unnecessarily slow. There are signs at the front and every table saying "90 minute table time." We joked later that is more for the staff than guests. We ordered quickly after we sat down, didn't have apps or drinks. It took over an hour for 4 out of our 5 meals, and another 15-20 minutes for our last dish. By that time everyone else was finished with our meals. Total meal time was over a hour and a half, and we were moving as fast as we could. The staff is nice, but operate poorly. It's frustrating waiting for a long time and seeing so many staff members standing around on their phones. There were clearly things they could have been doing. At one point my daughter dropped her fork. We flagged down a staff member for a replacement. It took a LONG time to get it replaced. It wasn't particularly busy at that time, and they had plenty of idle hands on staff who could have helped. Again, the staff is nice. They were constantly apologizing for the time it took to get food, get help, get a fork, etc... but it didn't help when you're frustrated about the experience. They also include 20% tip on the bill, and that might be why they didn't seem too motivated to improve your experience throughout. Long and short, you'll get a good meal. Decor was nice, but maybe velvet chairs are not a good idea for a restaurant. Our chairs had a lot of food stains. I really want to support black establishments, but our customer service makes it so, so hard. It's sad that the people hired and own these establishments care more about being in charges than actual customer service or their bottom line. We walked into the restaurant at 9:50am today. No one, I mean no one was at the hostess stand and it looked a junky mess. That should have been my first red flag. So we walked all the way in to find everyone working there congregated at the bar. I had to ask are you open? The servers there told us yes. One came forward and said would you like a table or bar? We said table. So at this point the restaurant is empty. One man at the bar only and my sister and I. The server that came forward to help us said sit anywhere you like. There was a wall of tables straight ahead when you walk into the restaurant, again, no one, absolutely no one was in there. We chose the table at the end to the right of the walls of tables, because I wanted to be further into the restaurant, as it was also freezing in there. Another server came up and said we could not sit there. We asked why, because again, the restaurant was completely empty. She said because of the way the tables are set. Now the tables are in a row and all of them are 2 tops, which is what we needed, a two top. With all of the rules as soon as we walked in we left. It's so petty not allowing us to sit at an appropriate sizes table for our party because of the way it's "setup". So now we are headed to Lulu's in Commerce where the customer service is consistent and if there is an open table and their customers want they will let you sit there, because they actually want to generate revenue and not just be "in charge". Btw which Lulu's is never empty. read more

I have patronized this place twice where I actually ate food, but the last two times has been a wash. Last Sunday, I was placed on the wait list and never actually called. Today, I went at 3:30, they close at 6 and the server said they were done seating people. She showed me a list with 2 names not crossed out. I just left. I do not plan on patronizing again. Also, when I went in January the server at the time said they would have their liquor license soon and gave a January date. Well clearly that did not happen. A few things that could be improved on: Provide seating in lobby area for those that have issues being on their feet while waiting to be seated (even a walk back to the car to wait could be taxing on them); replace the ripped and ragged folders that hold the credit cards; it's ok to automatically include a 20% tip...but at least provide 20% worth of service!! I've dined there 3-4 times now and at least twice, the waitress didn't bother to clear some of the empty dishes and napkins from the table as they stacked up. Table became too cluttered to enjoy food as it was being brought out. Waitress brought out incorrect items...Wasn't offered a refill on coffee or additional water...had to wave down the waitress to ask. Service was NOT worth a tip at all...let alone a 20% tip. Then comes the bill, pay close attention to your bill, it comes with surprises. Management was unwilling to make changes to our bill where we where improperly charged.
