I stumbled upon open door thrift store today. I've definitely not ever given a five star before…read more But this store really was charming. It probably is more of a 4 to 4 1/2 star but honestly, when actually comparing it to others, I would give it a five. If I compare it to resale stores, maybe a then a 4. The way it was organized was terrific, and it made things very easy to find. The staff working, there were friendly, helpful, and overall just kind. And the selection of certain items were very good. I would probably say in terms of quantity and overall quality it would depend what you're looking for. Clothing I would probably say is a 3 to 4 star experience based on amount and pricing. But if you're looking for HomeGoods, kitchenware, or other things of that genre, it has a lot to offer. I was particularly impressed that they took the time to label the size and type of the linens. This is not something I've seen done at a thrift store before and it is extremely useful. I actually ended up getting some curtains for my photography business as a result. Normally, I don't take that risk because I can't tell what they might fit like. The linen area was amazing. Highly recommend if you're looking for table cloths, sheets, placemats, etc.. I also was impressed with how they have the jewelry laid out. And it made me think about some of the stuff that I have wanted to donate for jewelry, but I haven't felt comfortable bringing to Goodwill or Salvation Army. I may donate some costume jewelry here soon. Definitely I will be back and I'm so glad I discovered this place today. Well I didn't buy clothes. I would definitely skim through them again in the future. But I will for sure. Be coming to do prop source in here. Prices were fair, even if there was no Gimmick sales. I would rather have prices upfront that are good anyway.

Very nice and clean swimming pool. A bit more expensive…read morethan I expected but I appreciate that they keep the pool clean and tidy.

I've been here a couple of times, once for a birthday party and once just for fun, and I honestly…read moredon't understand how this place is so highly recommended. The water slide rules are ridiculous. Kids have to meet a specific height requirement even though the water at the bottom of the slide is only about three feet deep and most kids can easily stand there. My child is short for her age but is in second grade, has been swimming since she was one, and is on a swim team. She was not allowed to go down the slide because she wasn't tall enough, yet her kindergarten friend, who could not swim, was allowed to go down even though they were basically the same height. When I tried to explain that my child is a strong swimmer, the lifeguard wouldn't budge and made her walk all the way back down the stairs in what felt like a complete walk of shame. After that, she wanted to swim in the main pool area, which is only about 3.5 feet deep, but there is a posted "no swimming" rule for that pool. Because of that rule, she wanted to go into the deeper water instead, which is only six feet deep. She was told she could not go into the deeper water unless she passed a swim test. However, they then said they could not give her the swim test because the swim instructors were not there. This made absolutely no sense, especially given her swimming ability and the fact that I was right there in the water with her as her parent. We then went to the splash pad. My child, who was three at the time, was told she was too close to the sprayer balls and got in trouble for it, even though the splash pad only has two features total. On top of that, the water was extremely cold. My toddler was shivering the entire time and couldn't even enjoy it because she wasn't allowed to stand under the water spray. That same day, we tried the lazy river. My toddler was holding onto me while we floated together. We went there specifically because the water was warmer, since her lips were literally turning blue in the regular pool. There was nobody else in the lazy river, and we were not being unsafe or disruptive in any way. Despite that, a lifeguard yelled at me for holding onto my child and told us we had to exit the river. At that point, it felt like no matter where we went, the rules were being enforced in a way that discouraged kids from playing rather than focusing on actual safety. The main pool itself is extremely underwhelming. There is one log in the middle, and only one person is allowed on it at a time, which I understand for safety reasons, but it is the only feature in the pool. One child used it the entire time we were there, and the lifeguard yelled at anyone who tried to touch it while allowing that same child to stay on it for nearly two hours. The pool is so shallow that my four-year-old can stand on the bottom, the main pool is so small that with about 6 people in it, it already feels overcrowded. The birthday party setup was just as bad. The party room is not convenient at all, despite what people say. There is no nearby bathroom, and the room itself is freezing cold. The changing rooms are down the water slide stairs and across the pool, but you are not allowed to walk to them in street clothes or shoes, which means you somehow have to change before you can even access the changing rooms. There are bathrooms upstairs, but they are nowhere near the party rooms and require walking through a maze of hallways. You freeze the entire way because you are either in a bathing suit or wet from the pool, and these bathrooms are just standard stalls, not actual changing rooms or showers. Everyone at the party complained about how far the bathrooms were from the party room. There are no changing rooms or showers near the party space, and the only real changing rooms are in the pool area, which you cannot access without already being changed. The entire setup is poorly designed and incredibly inconvenient. Overall, the rules feel inconsistent and overly strict, the layout is terrible, and the experience was frustrating for both kids and adults. Nobody in our group enjoyed it, and I would not recommend this place to others.

Since the governor announced a new round of lockdowns and business closures just before…read moreThanksgiving, many people decided to cancel their family gatherings. Enough of our family backed out that we canceled our gathering as well. I learned that Bloomfield Township Senior Services offered a take out Thanksgiving meal for township seniors that also included a breakfast as well at a reasonable price. So I called to order two meal packages for us just meeting the final day to sign up. About a week in advance, I received my pickup time for Thanksgiving morning. That morning I drove to the Senior center and went through the pickup line, two meal packages were placed in my car, and I was on my way home. The whole thing was very organized and there were lots of smiles and good wishes as I received my order. I displayed the contents of one of the packages for photos and then we decided how to proceed. Since we had slept in and hadn't eaten yet, we opted for the breakfast which we heated according to the instructions. It included an Omelette, Turkey Sausage, Hash Browns, and a Biscuit and was pretty tasty. We also decided we deserved to have our Pumpkin Pie as breakfast dessert that was very good. When we were hungry again for lunch, we started with the salad that was fresh and good quality ingredients. Then we heated the Turkey, Dressing, Gravy, and Peas and enjoyed it with the Cranberry Sauce and Dinner Roll. When we finished that, we were too full to finish the sides package, Penne Pasta with Meat Sauce and Mixed Vegetables, so we saved that for lunch the next day; it was quite good as well. I must give much credit and our appreciation to the Senior Services staff for offering such a well organized and executed program for seniors who were at home by choice or circumstances over Thanksgiving. While it is not the same as a home cooked meal with family, it was a very good alternative the current environment.
