Slightly less expensive clinics (like $5/class) and there are almost never courts available nights/weekends to rent. I do not see the value or benefit. The adult clinics are "ok" at best. Let me preface that the instructors are VERY nice. As people, I like them alot. That being said, the structure leaves a lot to be desired. The Sunday night classes are very slow paced with wayyyyy too much time being spent on stories and anecdotes. A 90 minute class with 30 of those minutes being a warm-up. Lots of standing around time vs. actual playing. The most beneficial time spent is with the 2nd instructor when he pulls a small group aside for personalized feedback and instruction. The Thursday night class is good, but it's so late - 8-9pm - and only an hours length. I wish there were more night/weekend options and with other instructors. Overall it's a decent choice in the area, but the membership fees are astronomical with very little value.

Look no further: this is THE place to be for tennis in Ann Arbor! More details: Adult tennis clinics/lessons: various programs throughout the day/week. If you're unsure, simply ask the front desk staff: super friendly and helpful! The clinics are very well structured and organized. All the pros are super nice! They may have different teaching styles/approaches, but they are all very encouraging, observing, and willing to help (consider this: I've taken lessons with almost all the pros in the club while I was there). Recreational leagues (adult women's): I've only participated in the inter-club league (daytime) and some USTA teams. There's also occasional friendly competitive playing such as the mixed doubles social. Anne S., the USTA coordinator, does an amazing job of taking care of one's need/preference to play on a team, even if this person doesn't know anyone (like how I was when I first got there). Administrative staff: like I have mentioned above, everyone is nice and willing to help! They go up and beyond to answer any questions that you may have. And this is beyond just midwest sweetness! Summary: I wish I could have found out about this club earlier while I was in Ann Arbor for grad school... Despite the short time as a member of club, I hold this place very close to my heart. It is not just "love at first sight". It is a community, dear long lasting friendship, and most importantly, a home to me that will stand behind me all the time! P. S. Cardio Tennis is great for burning intense amounts of calories. Loud music, lots of balls and sweat. What more could you ask for. The adult camps, held usually on Christmas break and various other times, are helpful. I was able to watch myself on video which was very helpful...and embarassing. The Adult Instructional Tennis are pretty good, however, I have not made been able to check out the intermediate level due to a few setbacks...maybe someday.

I also find that Liberty being independently owned leads to better service than I experienced at L.A Fitness and Planet fitness - the people who work at Liberty have often times been around for years and seem to care more. If you are a solo adult, the extra cost might be harder to justify. But for our family, this is hands down the best fitness club in Ann Arbor.

In the last year they've been renovating quite a bit to update the spaces, equipment, etc, which has helped the overall vibe. They started by painting and reflooring the main workout room and are currently renovating and updating the indoor lap pool and hot tubs/saunas. The locker rooms are clean and the lockers are easy to use. The workout equipment is in great condition and even during their busiest times it's easy to get a treadmill or a bike. Plenty of TVs and things to keep you occupied with as well as you're huffing and puffing along. They have a few rooms for specialized classes--group fitness, spin and yoga. Now, I've only done the yoga classes so I can't comment on the others but the yoga classes I've attended were good (restorative yoga). I've always felt a million times better coming out than when I went in. There's a lot to do for families too. With a big kid's complex with a play area, rock climbing wall and indoor water park for fun during the winter months (also open in the summer). The outdoor complex is awesome and open Memorial to Labor Days. To be honest, this was the selling point for me. They have a few lap lanes for adult swimming (yes there are only two but I never had a problem getting a lap of my own this summer and I went several times a week) a bigger "play" area in that pool for the older kids/teens, and a splash/smaller pool for kids with a nice water slide. The outdoor cafe area has beverages, smoothies, frozen yogurt, and a few hot items for lunching. There's a small playground and even a few holes of mini golf in the complex as well. Plus outdoor tennis courts, of course. The club is big on tennis and they have a ton of courts inside as well. Plus classes, teams, and more. I feel like there's always a tennis club gathering when I'm there. There's a small indoor cafe as well with snacks, water, smoothies and such. They close around 7:30pm every day so it's more for lunch or a post-work pick me up before your workout. They have a small spa area upstairs with pedicures and massages. When you join you get a coupon for either or so I booked one and splurged on another. Great solitary environment. I had a beautiful pedicure and one of the best massages I've ever had. It's just a little pricey to do often, but if I could I would. It's definitely not a cheap membership, but I get a generous stipend from work for a fitness membership which covers most of the cost. If not for this I'm not sure I could swing it. But since I can, I try and make the most of my membership.

OK this takes some explaining.....If you have ever driven on 696 by Orchard Lake Road there is a walking bridge that goes over the freeway. That now new bridge connects Harrison High Shcool and The Swim Club. The club is secluded in the back of the Kimberley Subdivision behind the elementary school. One nice thing this club does in June is they sponsor the Make-A-Wish Foundation http://www.wish.org/ charity where they have an open club during the day long event and have a bbq, and a silent auction to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. There are quite a few things to do at this club. They have tennis for people of all ages. They have a tennis team that plays against other clubs. There is and adult tennis tournament. They have a swim team that competes in the NSSL swim league against other swim clubs. They have social events, like kids day,adult night, pancake breakfast, family picnic. You may even choose to lay on the lounge chairs and just catch a few rays. This is a private club, but if you are interested call the membership person and get a one day pass and check it out. It's a nice way to spend your summer. The members are friendly. It's worth a one day pass.

I've been taking their advanced beginner clinics new for a few months and am beyond happy with the instruction. Coaches Taylor ans Niklas are both excellent and both coach and challenge to be better players. The entry level membership is currently $119 and while it's primarily for tennis programming access, you can also take advantage of these benefits: private swim and tennis lessons -group tennis classes for children and adults -dance classes and summer camps -summer all sports camps and tennis camps -adult swimming lane rental -swim team (tryouts required) -pickleball, tennis court rental -golf simulator rental -exercise class packages -esports gaming center -free open swim on Sat & Sun 1:00-4:00pm - service is offered until April 2024.  They offer another membership which icludes the fitness center and group-fit classes, but I've not explored those options yet.
