Checked out this craft brewery in Byron. Hairy Cow is the most interesting thing in this town other…read morethan the polluting nuclear power plant. It gets crowded because people around here know good beer it seems. Along with the beers is also a food menu. The prices are higher than the grubby bars in town, but for sure it matches the higher quality. Better get prepared for how hard it is to park here. It's got a parking lot but it's full often. This was crazy the last time we came here on a weekend. People around here know it's better beer than the crap they otherwise have. You may have to park on a street. Beers are pricier than average but they make smaller batches. It's about $8 a pint. Best of the ones we had was the Highland Hairy. This is a Belgian IPA. A pretty good amount of food. There's a ton of pizzas. Most food choices are meaty. There's also wings. A lot of big and messy items. It's about $7 for the Garden Salad. A pretty standard one with croutons. There's also salads covered in bacon, buffalo chicken, and other heavy stuff. Got to be one of the places to go if you're around here. It's really busy at times, and just park wherever if you can't get a spot. They're located on the east side of town, and closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

There were 4 of us in our party looking for some drinks and pizzas for supper. We knew it would be a wait for a table but there were a couple seats at the bar. Drinks were ordered and three bartenders made sure we got our drinks quickly and accurately. We figured it would be awhile before a table was ready so we ordered some Cheese curds. They got to us in record time and were crazy delicious. Note to self I would come again just for drinks and cheese curds. Our table was ready far quicker than we expected. More drinks and pizzas were ordered. A favorite was the gyros and the sausage pizza. We were not a fan of the goat cheese pizza. It's a flavor that isn't for everyone. Enjoyed our table by the fireplace. Left with a souvenir beer glass. Love their logo. We will be back when we are in the area again. Give this place a try for sure.

I tried this place based on the recommendation from some of the locals. Walking in, this is a place…read morethat only a local could love. It's not a large establishment; mainly you had the bar, some tables and a couple of games. It was dark, dank and honestly it looked like it could use a good cleaning, but I'm afraid if someone did try to clean in there, it would just make things fall apart. The building, furnishings and equipment are all in need of repair or maintenance. The padded arm rest along the edge of the granite looking laminate bar is cracked, peeling and torn leaving holes that expose the stuffing. It was uncomfortable resting against it because the edges of the vinyl were dry and would poke into the skin on my arm. The service was kind of off. There was only one bartender when I was in. It was decently busy and I think she handled all of the tables too. I really wasn't paying attention so I'm not sure, but she would disappear for a while leaving me beerless. Even at the end when we said we were ready to go, she was slow getting the check to us and then collecting the payment. Their special was tacos. The price was good, and they tasted fine. I don't think they were as great as some of the other people in the bar raved over them, but I've definitely had worse in a bar setting. I wouldn't go out of my way for them.

A couple dart boards, a few big screens in the corners and behind the bar, which spans almost the entire length of the place. 6 or 7 stool height booths along other side of wall with one made for larger groups by the kitchen window. Here's the kicker...great food and very friendly staff. Order anything, it is awesome. Friends of mine swear by the fish fry. Homemade egg rolls once a week too. It hasn't changed much in the 30 years I've been there...but why bother changing a good thing?
