This place is the best. Its old school style does not disappoint. Not only one of the best pizza places around but you got to try their Italian beef. They make their own. They also sell other great food options like Chicago dogs and such. I think this is the only place that makes homemade frozen pizza par baked so you can cook it in your oven and it tastes like a pizzeria pizza at home. I've been eating here for a long time. My family likes the pizza quite a bit but I can't eat it any longer. The pizza is incredibly bland. I started ordering the other options available on the menu such as the fried chicken sandwich, Chicago style hot dogs, and French fries. I enjoyed the other options I've tried a lot more than the pizza. The service is always pleasant and fast paced. I've never had an issue with any employee and they're very friendly. Apparently I cannot read an invitation to a kid birthday party. My husband I were on our way to my nephew's 12th birthday party but we were more than an hour early so I jumped on Yelp to see what was nearby and not being from the area, I didn't know what we would find. I asked him if he felt like some ice cream and he perked up like....well, like a 12 year old boy! We drove right past this place, thanks iPhone maps for your fantastic services! We pulled in to a strip mall that has obviously been here for-EVER! A little run down but in a charming way. When we walked in, we noticed a lot of people eating pizza and no one eating ice cream so we split a lunch special which included two (2) slices of pizza and a small drink for $5. All they had was sausage left, so we each got a slice of sausage pizza. It was good. I loved the thin crust and noticed many, many pizzas leaving the place in the short time we were there so it's obviously a local favorite. We went into the larger dining area near the ice cream cases to find a lot of the tables were kinda dirty. We chose the cleanest one we could find and parked it. We were just trying to kill a little bit of time, so this was the perfect spot. That, and neither of us had eaten that day so a little something in our tummies was ideal. Being a hot August day and there wasn't any AC in this place, we ate and left. Skipped the frozen treats but next time we're in the area, I definitely would like to try out a scoop. It's a shame it's not closer to home because I could go for another slice of their pie! read more

I have had their pizza many times over the years when I worked and golfed in Lake County. Almost every week after golf I would bring home a thin, pan or stuffed pizza home for the wife and me to chow down on. This is one of the top pizza places in Lake County. I've never had anything else on the menu. They have a lunch special for under $5. Two slices and a drink. The slices are medium sized, I really would like three slices. They have maybe ten tables to chow at, Great for lunch. I've been to Bill's and Pat's, IMO Wayne's pizza is much better. If I want to dine in I'll go to Bill's Pub. read more

Would have given 5 stars because food is good here , and prices... but service has been rough each time for us. We are new customer who began coming this year- we always have to ask for silverware, napkins, ketchup. Nothing you need with your meal is accessible. We order it for here (to eat at the restaurant) and they still give bag to go. Frustrating- and when we keep going back to get the things we need, she seems bothered, offers no apology. Been living in Gurnee for 10 years now. Finally went to Wayne's because I was looking for a good Italian Beef. Went to a near by competitor first only to find they were way expensive and had only one person working the establishment. Being 3rd in line I chose to leave. That is when I decided to go elsewhere. Wayne's was a block away. Got Italian Beef and Mozzarella Sticks. Prices were very reasonable especially when I saw the overwhelming amount of beef they put on the sandwich. Sticks were great and the red sauce was very good. My concerns... although you get a ton of meat, the flavor wasn't quite there for and "Italian" style beef. Not enough red sauce for the amount of sticks they give you. Also, it took a good 15 minutes to get my order. I was the only "order at the counter" customer. Phone orders seemed to bog the staff down. Also, saw a lot of bare hands applying ingredients with no hand washing between different products. No AC just several industrial fans that were very noisy. Would want to eat in with that noise. One other thing I liked is that they provide condiment and cutlery for customer to grab. You can grab what you need. I hate when places give you 2 napkins and 2 ketchup packets and expect that to be enough. Over all I was content with my visit to Wayne's. Going to try their pizza soon. I came here for lunch yesterday and just had to get my thin crust pizza fix on! From the outside, it doesn't look like much sitting in a strip mall. Honestly, from the inside it doesn't jump out at you... Then, it hits you. That distinct thin crust pizza baking smell! It draws you in especially if you're hungry! It's a great big menu, but I come here for pizza and pizza only! I ordered the thin sausage pizza and the wait while very short is brutal on my empty stomach. I watch the lunch crowd come in and get their lunchtime special of a slice and a fountain drink. I salivate and finally here my number called. The crust is perfectly thin and smoky. To: Wayne's, et al I moved to the area in 2005, going to lunch with a buddy of mine in 2007 I got two slices of a great thin crust pizza. Amazing crust! Super rich sauce. Super friendly people. 12 years later... crust still amazing, folks behind the counter are friendly. The bummer...the last 5-6 pizzas I have ordered, the sauce is almost non-existent. That's not just on the edges, but in the center too. I think it's the same sauce, but too too little used. Next pizza I will get, I will ask for extra sauce, hoping to get my favorite pizza back. Happy to pay more if reducing the sauce was a cost conscious decision. read more

Not my favorite, their quality has gone downhill. I have been there several times when visiting one of the businesses next door. I've ordered their pizza, chicken, and slices. I have not been pleased. The cooking oil needs to changed out more often. My visit last Friday sealed the deal that I won't go back. The service is terrible and just plain rude. There is an older woman who was just plain mean and then another person who was just hostile. The are not friendly the place is dirty and just unfriendly. I watched someone change a baby on one of their tables and the staff never wiped it down. It was at that point I decided I'm never eating there. You used to do so well and have great food. I came here with my sister while driving to Wisconsin. I actually, love to get slices from here when I'm in lake county. The pizza is tasty and have the thinnest crisp crust, just the way I like it. They have both thin and thick, never take out a pizza from there - i always go for lunch special (1 slices+fountain drink). Love it. They have other stuff too -- gyros, etc. -- but i only go there for a tasty lunch. I have been going to Wayne's for over a decade, called today to order my usual. When I got told something interesting. What I was told 1st is because Wayne's is having issue with a bunch of fake pizza orders they wanted to me to give them my credit card number over the phone, then they would throw the card information away when I got in to pick it up. How is that safe writing numbers down on a piece of paper? Then a "manager" got on the phone and the story changed to that they were going to run the card before I got there away, with a $50 hold!!! All because of fake orders??? I explained I am not a fake order, and I've been coming there for years. She said, I guess you don't want your food then. Didn't even care I was a loyal customer. I have the good fortune of living close enough to Wayne's so I can eat there all the time! I normally order a large size so I have leftovers for a couple days. Every kind of pizza here is amazingly delicious, though I am partial to the stuffed pizza. My go to is the stuffed pizza with sausage and mushrooms. Pure heaven! They also have coupons online you can print off and bring in to save a little. The weekends can be a crazy and I have noticed a few times when picking up my pizza that it has been hastily thrown together, but never has it tasted bad and I can totally get how hard it is to keep up with all the orders when you are so good. I heard the breakfast pizza is delicious so going to try that next. Updated review: Called in my order for pick up. I didn't have access to a printer so couldn't print a coupon offered on the website. Apparently just showing it on your phone doesn't qualify, which makes no sense at all. Why print out on paper only to have it thrown away? Not everyone has access to a printer anymore but most have smartphones. On top of that I had to wait because they forgot to put mushrooms on as ordered. An "I'm sorry" was nice but a step above would have been taking a few dollars off my order or the amount extra I paid. read more

Boy my first time here and it was a great one. I am not from around here and was looking for bbq. I went to a place close to here and the prices were double from what I pay in my area. The pizza absolutely redeems this place. 100%. When you first walk in to pick up your order, the place seems dated and a little dirty. The last time I went in, I asked the young girl at the front counter if she could look up my order and her exact words were "I dunno, I just answer phones" and she straight up turned and walked away....honestly, it was almost funny. So I just waited until I got someone else, who promptly pulled out my order. Let me tell you- WAYNE'S PIZZA IS DELICIOUS! It's SO GOOD!!!!
