    This was a disappointing experience for us!…read more Closing the sale of a house always has its ups and downs, some are unavoidable due to the system. Others are avoidable . This one could have been avoided had the staff at First American understood and possessed some basic customer service skills. In a nutshell, the staff's lunch date was more important than pleasing a customer - taking a little care and attention to help the closing of the the escrow so that we could move into our new home before Christmas as planned. When we arrived at the store, the escrow assistant told us that there was not enough time to close today - even though we had checked and double checked that it could. Point blank we were told that; 1. "Our company policy is that the office has to close between 12 and 1." The regional manager later informed that this was not true, and 2. "I won't close your documents today." Verbatim. Granted, originally she said that "I can't close your documents today" (because she had to go to lunch). But later this statement was changed to "I won't". I guess I appreciate the honesty. The regional manager tried to smooth things over, lots of apologies, but from my impression, the assistant's attitude was a typical example of entitlement mentality, a lack of training and abominable sense of urgency. It may also have been because our house was only a $500,000 purchase and not $3M. Again, the store manager/Sr. Escrow Officer tried to apologize, but when I am told that "I've already spent 45 minutes talking to you about his and now I'm late for a meeting," I think I can read what really is important. The regional manager followed up, and did a suitable job. We did manage to close before Christmas, and moved in. So all's well that end's well.

The staff was was friendly and very helpful in obtaining the comparable sales and chain of title. I also had the opportunity to meet Vanessa Haven, the Sales rep for the office and she also assisted me further. As a 25 year veteran Broker, I highly recommend them to any Agents looking to work with a local Title Comapny. I will definitely be giving them my business.

Peter came by the property and was not overwhelmed with the potential problems. We established a top of market sale price, but the property was not ready to be listed on the MLS. Within days Peter had a full price, 21 day escrow offer ready to be signed. Title company and transaction coordinator were both fantastic. Communications were terrific. From the very beginning, he took time to understand our goals during a detailed buyer consultation via Zoom, helping us clarify what kind of property and neighborhood would best fit our needs. He toured us through multiple homes, resale and new build, across different cities, educating us on the nuances of each community, and even previewed listings via video and FaceTime so we could see homes as soon as they became available if we were out of the area. When it came time to make an offer on a home in Seaside Highlands, he wrote a compelling and well-structured proposal that unfortunately lost out only because other buyers did not have a contingency and we still needed to list our current residence. Even after that, he kept searching proactively, uncovering new and "coming soon" properties before they officially hit the market. In addition to his local expertise, he connected us with a trusted loan officer who reviewed financing and bridge loan options--to try to mitigate our contingency issue, and he also referred us to an excellent real estate agent in San Jose who helped us sell our previous home so we could be better positioned when making an offer. When our path shifted toward a new build at The Dunes, he smoothly transitioned into that process, \communicating with the sales agents for the builder, addressing our questions, and ensuring details were handled properly from contract to closing. He even provided vendor referrals to help us get settled after move-in. Peter's professionalism, responsiveness, and thoughtful guidance made what could have been a stressful process feel organized and well-supported. We are truly grateful for his diligence, communication, and care in helping us find our new home. We highly recommend him to others.
