Every time I come to Wayback Burgers, the service goes above and beyond. The food is always prepared perfectly and tastes amazing, and the customer service is outstanding every single time. The worst customer service from a manager ever. I've never been to Wayback Burger in orange, ct before. I ordered online because there code to get a free shake. I was let the workers and manger know I ordered online for the free shake but I would stay to eat at the restaurant. I was told they would get me the shake when they give me my food. I get the food ,no shake. I go back up I tell the manager that I didn't get my shake , he rudely says I have to pay. I told and showed him proof that I should be getting a free shake and he cuts me off and says I'm not getting a shake. I returned my food and said I'd like a refund . I ordered a double hamburger with pickle, onion, lettuce and tomato with a side of fries. How anyone could screw up this order is beyond me, but they gave me a double hamburger with katsup and mustard only. I hate mustard on a hamburger and I prefer to put my own ketchup on so I never asked for any of that either. The order was 10 minutes late and was cold. I ordered here through Door Dash, although I have been here before for take out. I ordered the fish sandwich, which is apparently a well kept secret but I have to say it's very good and I recommend it to any fried fish lovers. The other thing they have here that nobody seems to pay attention to is the chicken sandwiches, which are also very good I think. The chicken BLT and crispy chicken sandwiches are both really good. Upscale McDonald's burger @ a Five Guy's price!!! Ordered the Philly. It has American cheese, onions, and mushrooms. If I had closed my eyes, I would have sworn it was a large size McDonald's burger. I didn't find out that I could add additional toppings until after I paid and was sitting down waiting for my food. Pickle/lettuce/ tomato would have been good on it. Fries were good! A less greasy version, but similar taste to McDonald's. This is a delicious burger joint. I attached a picture of the meal I'm about to review. Single burger, mustard, ketchup, lettuce. Fries and vanilla milkshake =$12ish. The beef is fresh but looks bigger than it tastes, if that makes any sense. It's delicious, but worthwhile to get the double patty. The bread (the key to any great sandwich) was fresh, delicious but a bit messy. Very spongy which is good for overall sandwich, but I'm not a fan of the way condiments get absorbed by bread of that nature. Lettuce was romaine lettuce, which I'm not fan of personally, but I will note that it was as fresh as could be and a great piece of lettuce. The fries was perfection. Great and crispy, not soggy with grease, and nice and fresh. Above all else they were NOT over salted - which is my biggest gripe with most burger places. The milkshake was delicious. The perfect balance of sugar in the mix / ice cream. Couldn't have been any better. Minus one star for the cleanliness of the dining area (it wasn't gross, but somewhat cluttered, straw wrappers on the floor, etc) and Pepsi products. (Team Coca-cola baby.) Stopped in here to try this new place, Ordered a double jakes burger and fries. I ordered the burger plain, with just cheese. For me its a good way to see how it really tastes. Unfortunately this burger was very salty. My fries were soggy. It took 15mins to get my order. There was only 4 people sitting inside eating and like 6 people behind the counter. I know its cooked fresh but still how long does it take fry up a burger and toss some fires in the deep fryer. The best part was the fresh brewed ice tea. The prices are a little steep. This is a newly opened location in Orange. This fast food burger joint is fairly small, the ordering and serving process is quite chaotic and slow. I ordered the Jake's Cheeseburger, side caesar salad, fries and iced tea. Despite the fact that they ran the bun through a toaster, the bun was cold and had a big thumb imprint squished in the middle of it. The "caesar" salad was made with watery leaf lettuce (not romaine) and was quite small for the price. The burger itself, served with "everything" (lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, ketchup and mustard) was fairly bland and unimpressive. The fries were your standard straight from the freezer variety, nothing special. As far as the iced tea, I will give them credit for offering both sweetened and unsweetened tea. I was heading down the Post Rd and this new burger place caught my eye. Walking in the first thing I noticed was that it was very clean. Since they had 8 people on staff it was easy to see how. My son and I ordered the rodeo burger and a rootbeer shake. The burger was good but nothing to write home about. I was a little disappointed to see the burgers were frozen. The shake on the other hand was excellent. It was just thick enough to still drink and still had plenty of taste. Overall, I would probably not go back since 5Guys is just down the road. Now I have passed this restaurant many times and even walked in it but I never had the opportunity of really ordering something. The hamburger was very good it did remind me of a good old fashion cast iron skillet hamburger with real cheese not just one Patty but several patties. It's hard to write a review on a chain restaurant. Since you pretty much know what you are going to get out of it. And yes, there will be comparisons to 5 Guys, since they are so much alike. I will say that the burgers were very good. Not a fat burger, but a nice juicy flat style patty. Put what you want on it, so you get it how you want. Can't complain if you dont like whats on it then. Not a good experience. Restaurant had an awful odor, floor was filthy as were many of the tables. Burgers were so-so. There are two tables directly in front of the counter, and more to the side. Shift Manager sat at a table in front of the counter most of the time we were there, causing customers not to be able to utilize that table. He sat while the staff worked chatting with a friend who was there visiting him, and texting on his phone. Manager was overheard commenting to the staff that compared to how busy they were at lunch, they were lucky that there was almost nobody there that evening. A manager complaining and acting like too many customers was a bad thing? Why would a manager NOT want customers in his store? Needless to say, we won't be back! read more

I have to say, I'm a fan of Wayback... I sincerely believe they are better than Five Guys. Their burger creations are diverse and fun, their chicken sandwiches are amazing as well. Their fries are perfectly cooked and their milkshakes are a wonderful indulgence. As chain burger places go, this is one of the best on the East Coast, on par with Smashburger.
