Employees who took care of me were really nice! I had a little bacon cheeseburger w/ extra pickles. My bf had a bacon cheeseburger w/ lettuce,mayo,& ketchup. We shared a little Cajun fries & a large fountain coke. My food was supper fresh & hot! The fries were piping hot (just the way I love them)! There was a little too much Cajun seasoning on the fries. It kind of overpowered the taste of the fries. Someone has a heavy hand,lol! My burger was juicy & the bacon crispy! The extra pickles gave it a little kick! The vibe was chill inside. I've even tried burgers at Fatty Pattys and Texas road house. I did not enjoy fatty pattys burger. And I LOVE Texas Road House, but for me when it comes down to a great burger and fries... I order a cheeseburger which was over $13. I'm a burger purist so when I pay that much for a cheeseburger it better look like the picture. The toppings I asked for was fried onions and mushrooms, the onions were crunchy and the mushrooms were on the grill for way to long, so much so they were hard. The other issue was the topping were on the bottom and two pieces of cheese were on one patty and mother on top. It wasnt that way the last time I went there years ago so I guess over time they just lost interest about quality food and presentation. I done with 5 Guys, I make better burgers at home, but if I do go out for a burger I'll go to shake shack in Westport. They take pride in there work and the topping are on the top and cooked appropriately. The burger meat is so good there also and cheaper than 5 guys. The staff is also very friendly and if you have never been there before they will give you a card for a free burger on your next visit. read more

I used to come to this location often, but have found the quality has gone down. In ordered take out online and followed the prompts. When I arrived, I had about a 10 minute wait. When I got home, my burger was cold - it wasn't the glorious burger I was used to getting at Five Guys (I live fairly close and know the burger will cool down on my ride home, but this burger was not even warm, it was almost as if had been sitting out for a long while). The french fries were hot, however they tasted like they've been sitting in the bin for hours- not fresh. I'll continue to come to this location and will hope for the best on my next visit. I went back there recently and the burger was not as good as usual. I still like visiting them though as the burgers, even when they are not "as good as usual" are still pretty good! This particular location is very clean and has both indoor and outdoor seating. It's nice to sit outside in the warm weather. I sometimes get a double burger as they fill you up more which the single does not always do. Their food is great and the inside is very cute and I have never had an issue finding a table. Occasionally, if you dine outside you will see Geese meandering about. That's always a nice surprise when it happens. Staff are friendly and it doesn't take much time for the food. Their French Fries are AMAZING. Five Guys are listed under Fast Food but I consider them a step up from that. There are also awards on the wall including one apparently having been won for best place to have lunch. I prefer it for dinner but either way I like this place alot and they are among the top places to go for a quick and juicy burger and fantastic fries all at very affordable prices. read more

Do. Not. Go. My boyfriend and I grabbed dinner with another couple at the Five Guys in Shelton (at 4pm on a Saturday - so not really busy) and we had an absolute terrible experience. Our friends ordered and paid first, and got their food immediately. We ordered and paid right after them and waited over 20 minutes for our food! Please note: our orders were extremely simple. 2 little burgers and a regular fry. Nothing crazy. People were ordering after of us, delivery orders were completed, etc. and they got their food before us. 23 minutes later, we finally got the food. No apology for the wait or inconvenience, nothing. The couple we were eating with already finished their food, as they should have, so they could enjoy it fresh. We were extremely upset though. My boyfriend went to talk to the manager to express his concerns, and the manager was an absolute horror. She did not apologize for the inconvenience, giving excuses rather than trying to resolve the problem. She was disrespectful, and an indecent human being. If these are the types of managers that Five Guys is hiring, I question the purpose of the company and what they are trying to accomplish. Because with managers like her, Five Guys is going to lose a lot of business. I have 10+ years in the food industry and customer satisfaction with a company has never been more prevalent than in todays world. The Five guys manager could have easily turned this scenario around by apologizing, offering to comp our meal or even just offer another fry or a free milkshake. I would have been fine with an apology. Then I would have been writing the best review ever because they took our dissatisfaction seriously as a respectable consumer. However, the manager had zero empathy for their mishandling of our order, and I now consider her an incompetent, disgusting human being. I came from the Hyatt House hotel, just across the way. I think I came a day or two after they opened. There were tons of employees there, about 20, all being trained. It was fun to watch them learn, even if they were a bit rowdy. Hey, they're kids. Down to the nitty gritty: they give less fries than other Five Guys do, though it's still more than the cup can hold. Also, they have two of those coke machines where you can choose your drink and mix-in flavor. Very good! Overall, it's a great start. I'd give it four stars, but I'm knocking off one for lack of professionalism. The cashier looked very flustered and wasn't too cordial. Yes, she's learning I'm sure, but she could at least smile. Lots of potential, though - I wouldn't be surprised if this place becomes a five star five guys in about five days. read more

Was traveling through so decided to stop at Five Guys. I really like their burgers, always consistent. I ordered the double cheeseburger, large fry and a caramel milkshake with tip almost $25. The double cheeseburger was great like always. The milkshake with spot on even though I had to ask for it because they forgot it. The fries tasted good. So why only three stars if everything tasted good? When I took the fries out of the bag and put them back in the cup it barely filled it. Now, it could be I'm spoiled or condition by other Five Guys the dump a bunch into to bag as well as the cup full. For a $7 fry I was not satisfied and for a $25 meal I really expected to be stuffed. There are many places that you can get a better lunch for $25 or less. read more

Very difficult review. I used to come here fairly often as my office was right around the corner. Nowadays I come in once in a while. It is usually outstanding, but my most recent visit was a complete 180. I tried ordering from their website for the first time, and that turned out to be the mistake. Ordering was easy, and when you get to the restaurant you press a button that says I'm here, and your food will be ready. Stood at the pick up window for 5 minutes and no one acknowledged my presence. Other customers came and got their orders. After another few minutes I try to get the attention of one of the employees, and she walked away from me. Finally after 10 minutes manager came out and I expressed my disappointment. He Explained that their tablet is broken and they do not get notifications when website customers click on I am here. But that's not all. There are lots of explanations as to where that went wrong, but the food was terrible. The fries which are usually perfect and overflowing the bag, barely fill the cup and we're under cooked. The burgers were tasteless, and the bun felt a bit stale. Since the last time I've been there it seems like they've had a price increase, and for what they are asking, it had better be perfect. It wasn't. Maybe this was a one time bad day, maybe it's going downhill, I don't know. Based on all of my other visits the review would've been four stars. read more

I love Five Guys burgers!!! The staff is usually very friendly though the gentleman at the register when we last went could use a little more warmth - no biggie. The price is right & the burgers are hard to beat imo. You can add a ton of toppings for n/c and some for a small fee. I've never tried the fries (I know, I'm missing out) so can't comment on those. Overpriced, for real -- like restaurant prices! A burger only is like $8 for a to-go. The food seems fresh but a bit bland for my taste. It is a nice touch that everything can come with peanuts. The staff was nice and friendly and helpful. Just those prices, man, for a fast food places of less taste than it needs - I couldn't get over that. When I found out how expensive my order would be, I wanted to cancel my order and leave -- my embarrassment and dignity were the only things that prevented me from doing so. I'm a loyal Five Guys fan and visit a location in San Jose, CA quite frequently! While traveling, I came across this location and was excited to other my usual (little cheeseburger protein style). I should have known when I placed my order.... The cashier just looked at me like a deer in headlights and stood there. I wasn't sure what happened so I said protein style is a cheeseburger w/out the bun and wrapped in lettuce. I thought she understood until I picked up my order. I got a foil pan w/ grilled onions in the top left, grilled mushrooms in the top right, separate ketchup, separate mustard, sliced lettuce, the hamburger patty and cheese. When I asked the Asst. Manager he said they didn't have fork/knive but could give me extra lettuce so I could make my own wrap myself. Weird.... WARNING: PEANUTS EVERYWHERE. IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES, STAY AWAY! Five Guys has a very limited menu - hamburgers and hot dogs with a few other things that you can make with the fixings for the first two. But they do it well. The hamburgers are quality, the hot dogs are tasty and meaty and there is a variety of fixings available for both. If you want a side dish, they offer free peanuts or semi-expensive fries. Being a cheapskate, I have never ventured beyond the FREE peanuts. The place itself is fairly generic fast-food with small tables with 4 chairs on them and refillable drinks. It is not kept particularly clean - probably difficult with peanut shells everywhere - but it's never very bad either. The staff is friendly, but stays behind their counter. Overall, a decent place to pick up from if you want what they have and don't have peanut allergies. read more

Called customer service number from the website and gave them my information. 3 days later no refund. called again and they had no record of my call. How convenient. I was staying in the Shelton area and had to run back to my hotel really quickly on my lunch break. Right across the street is the restaurant location so I decided to stop by and get a cheeseburger with no mushrooms - not even bother with the french fries because they are disgusting, get a large drink and I'm out!!! I was thinking 10 to 15 minutes MAX. This guy (super nice dude) calls my order, I sit down at a open table sit down, inspect my burger and what do you know ... MUSHROOMS. I got up and told him the situation, he said the buttons are unfortunately near each other and suspected it was an accident. I sat back down and waited 5-6 more minutes, ate and left. Called ahead for 2 burgers with fries. Arrived within minutes and went to the pickup area. My order was ready but I was informed that I had to go to the back of the long line to pay. Why in the world would I call in an order and then get behind 20 people who haven't even placed an order yet? When the cash register finally rang, the eyes sprung out of my head. TWENTY FIVE BUCKS??? For 2 burgers and 2 small fries? "Oh, our prices just went up." Y'THINK? Would've been better off with 2 Outback burgers. As it was, the fries were ice cold and they botched the toppings on one burger. On the other one, my wife took a bite and felt something crunchy. I would recommend five guys hires their own grub hub drivers or moves away from grub hub. What a disaster. My food was delayed 40 minutes and then i went and picked it up.
