Our first trip was to the Amalfi coast, never could I imagine a more wonderful experience. Every minute from arriving in Rome, to arriving in Positano for 8 nights, and returning to Rome was amazing. Our journey director was outstanding. Our fellow travelers were fabulous, a group of 12. We would explore the coast from this beautiful spot in Positano, each day setting out for adventure in a lovely Mercedes van. We were mostly in places where we saw few Americans, we ate at wonderful restaurants, and had an absolute blast. We had a wonderful blend of active and down time, we learned and saw so much, and laughed every day ! Amazing! The next trip was Florence, Cinque Terra, and Tuscany, amazing as well. The hotels and villa we stayed in were top notch, our journey director amazing, another perfect trip. This was a more active trip, but we enjoyed every second, we felt like we saw a very real side of Italy, not just tourist spots. The Time we spent on each spot was magical. The charming town of Lucca and the Villa in Tuscany were top of our list. We are not organized tour people, but the small group, perfectly curated Nada's trips are beyond. This more modest state park offers a historic schoolhouse and some other exhibits, as well as some nature trails. It purports to tell the story of a rural community where this future president was raised in a time of war. There was some intrigue here, and for a $3 entrance fee, it was not a bad stop. Some historical interpretation was available. There were also some significant picnic sites and an amphitheater that was hosting some sort of event.

Then it is just a short walk to the museum and a few monuments. I'm not sure if there is really any connection to Jackson himself aside from the name and monuments. But there are some artifacts which date from around his time. The history here, indeed the whole area, is a history lacking from the west coast. So, whether related to the 7th president or just his era, it is cool for a life long west coaster to visit and learn. Other highlights of this state park which I did not have an opportunity to check out are camp sites, a lake with canoe rentals and a 1 mile nature trail. Practically something for everyone.

Aesthetic: Charming farm with unique animals…read more My Favorite: The Capybaras! Experience: I took my husband to the safari to do a Capybara encounter for his birthday, but it ended up being so much more. We were able to learn about and pet farm animals, zebras, monkeys, lemurs, camels, kangaroos, fennec foxes, otters, and so many other beautiful rescue animals. They were all well taken care of and in good spirits. The experience was $25 per person and $25 extra per person to sit and have an encounter in the Capybara's environment. They were so sweet and kept jumping on us to snack on veggies. I can't wait to go back, I want to do all the encounters they have! Everyone in Charlotte needs to visit the farm and safari, it is a great experience.

It has a lot of mountain biking trails, but we were just hiking. The lake is really pretty and some of the trails go right along it. I'm not sure if we followed an actual predefined hike, but I think we walked for about 4 miles which is pretty good for a Charlotte park. I laughed so hard nearly the entire class. Arrive early and they will let you hold a baby or just pet little goats until class starts. Yoga class itself was not too serious- do what you can, stretch yourself to your own comfort level, and enjoy being in nature with baby goats. New Moon Flower Farm provided the baby goats and the yoga instructor was from Tega Cay. Kids participated too, and the energy of the young was infectious.

First off, the dog park is amazing. Huge with lots of space, separated areas for small and large dogs, agility play equipment, benches and the like. You must have a city dog license and it seems that access to the park is using an RF tag to open the gate. Nearby, an ADA compliant playground, fitness equipment and a disc golf course. And that's just half the park. On the other side, a regular playground with a splashpag, picnic shelters, a massive baseball/softball complex and walking trails and a mountain bike trail. Parking lot seemed large enough for a Sunday morning. Dogs enjoyed seeing a little frog for the first time in their lives. We will certainly be back! Finding shaded walking trails for the dogs can be difficult and this was nice. The porta potties could be smelled from quite a distance away so I would avoid those.

I bookmarked this spot for the seasonal spider lillies. After self-paying the admission fee and…read moreparking, the walk along the shore was quite pleasant on a mild day. Despite the river views, it took a half hour or so to get to the spider lillies, which are apparently limited to one particular location. It was hard to see them from shore, made harder by rising waters (the festival the previous day was likely thrown off by rain). I got enough of a glimpse of them to understand where the name comes from. The overall aesthetic of the park offered remnants of a historic canal, and boating and picnicking opportunities. It was a pleasant space, but not at the top of ones I'd want to drive out to and pay for.

The Rocky Spider Lily's are only located in certain areas ( SC, GA, and AL). Hoping to see them in another state as well. Its all about timing, make sure you check the websites for a bloom updates. The park is well kept and bathrooms are clean, which is a plus. During the Lily Festival parking is limited, so pack your patience. You will get parking, so no worries. The cost is $6 for each adult, very reasonable considering. They have a store with maps for the walking trails, its approx 1mile roundtrip to see the Lily's. If you want to see them up close and personal you must rent a canoe prior to coming. The park doesnt rent boats, a outside company will take you on a tour. I actually enjoyed the nature trails. They have a nice platform for viewing the lily's. The lily's are absolutely breathtaking, I truly enjoyed my day at this park. The trails are fairly short and well taken care of. There are some food and artisan vendors at the park. Tip: dont touch the lily's if your on a boat, all parts of the plant are poisonous if ingested. Please do your own research beforehand.
