We've travelled twice with Nada's Italy, and are scheduled to take our third trip with them in a few months. Our first trip was to the Amalfi coast, never could I imagine a more wonderful experience. Every minute from arriving in Rome, to arriving in Positano for 8 nights, and returning to Rome was amazing. Our journey director was outstanding. Our fellow travelers were fabulous, a group of 12. We would explore the coast from this beautiful spot in Positano, each day setting out for adventure in a lovely Mercedes van. We were mostly in places where we saw few Americans, we ate at wonderful restaurants, and had an absolute blast. We had a wonderful blend of active and down time, we learned and saw so much, and laughed every day ! Amazing! The next trip was Florence, Cinque Terra, and Tuscany, amazing as well. The hotels and villa we stayed in were top notch, our journey director amazing, another perfect trip. This was a more active trip, but we enjoyed every second, we felt like we saw a very real side of Italy, not just tourist spots. The Time we spent on each spot was magical. The charming town of Lucca and the Villa in Tuscany were top of our list. We are not organized tour people, but the small group, perfectly curated Nada's trips are beyond. We have had many wonderful vacations, but we had never been on a group tour. Then we decided to finally take the big Italy vacation (Rome, Florence, Venice) we had always promised ourselves. Because there was just so much we wanted to see, and so much to learn, and so many details to get right, we decided to try a group tour for the first time. Right away, Nada's motto "Tours for people who don't go on tours" spoke to us! But we didn't jump in right away, instead we compared what Nada offered versus other operators. Several companies with "small" group tours offer similar itineraries and promise similar amenities. But Nada seemed more interested in the culture, food and experiences rather than just a checklist of must-see's. And though not cheap, the price was competitive. We took Nada's "Italian Treasures" tour featuring Rome, Florence, and Venice (and some stops, including some surprises, in between). So how did it turn out? Our travel dreams were realized beyond all expectations! Our tour leader Alessandro was an exceptional personality, incredibly helpful and informative, yet low key, cheery and cordial. We loved that he worked so hard to keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes, yet was able to join in the experience with comments and his thematically appropriate set of shirts for the sights we were seeing. In particular, his very passionate and personal stories at the American cemetery near Florence were deeply moving and appreciated by all. We learned that Nada's definition of a "small" group was VERY small, small enough that our group could go into any restaurant and be treated like normal guests, and small enough that our minivans could go places big buses could not. And small enough that we could easily visit small artisan workshops, which was a real highlight. The value of a group, especially the very small Nada-sized group, was crystallized for me one morning in Florence. We had just had a wonderful round of visits to artisans in the Altrano, and the group was next going on to lunch and a patisserie. It was a good time for our local guide to give us a short heads-up presentation for what to expect later in the day when we visited the Uffizi. So, our group stopped in a small coffee shop, and while our local guide prepared us for the afternoon, Alessandro retrieved cappuccinos for all of us. It was all so smooth, so relaxing, so endearing, and yet such a good use of time. There is no way it could have worked so well with a larger group, and it would have been impossible to do all this so calmly on our own. Hotels: All of our three hotels were comfortable, very welcoming and in good locations. Restaurants: I loved *ALL* of the chosen restaurants on the tour. It was so nice having regular tables, rather than being herded into a special side room as a larger tour group would have required. Tour vs. free time: We thought Nada's provided the perfect balance between major sights where we needed the organization and interpretation from our guides, and free time for us to see things of our own special interest. read more

This tour was a perfect combination of free and scheduled time, seeing the "tourist spots" and off-the-beaten path spots and cultural and interesting spots. We traveled to Tuscany Italy with Nada's Italy and found it one of the best trips we have done. For over 30 years we have traveled on our own and sometimes with large bus type groups. Nada's small group (6-12) approach was wonderful. Everything was taken care of by their North Carolina staff leading up to our trip and then their born in Italy tour guide took care of the in-country itinerary. We had great meals in small towns, cooking classes, site seeing, wine tasting. and more. Our only job was to relax and enjoy. My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon where we traveled with Nada's Italy to the Amalfi Coast. It was absolutely incredible! We just came home from the Northern Delights Tour with Nada's Italy. It was a wonderful experience and exactly what we wanted. We are not "tour" people - don't like the big bus - the large groups - being led by a tour director with a flag. At the same time we are at a point in our lives where we don't want to hassle with driving in a foreign country, trying to figure out what we shouldn't miss. When we saw an ad for Nada's Italy with their mission statement being "Tours for people who don't go on tours" thought it was worth checking out. Glad we did!! Our tour was an 11 day adventure. One night in Milan (we arrived 2 days early to get more time in Milan) four nights in Bellagio, four nights in Piedmont area and one night in Torino (we added an extra night here too). Hotels were 3 and 4 star accommodations. We had so many wonderful experiences that it's hard to tell about all of them. Highlights in Milan was seeing The Last Supper painting with a local guide bringing this painting to life for us. She also took us on a walking tour of Milan to see the highlights of this beautiful city and the history of the area. In Bellagio we absolutely loved the boat rides on a private boat on Lake Como. The wonderful dinners at restaurants that we would never have found on our own. One day we went to St Moritz in Switzerland and experienced the Bernina Express train that took us through the Alps and we saw glaciers and some of the most beautiful scenery from the Top of the World!! During our stay in the Piedmont area we stayed at a villa with views to die for. This area is quintessential Italy. We visited wineries that feature the wines this area is known for - Baralo and Barbaresca wines which were wonderful. Took a cooking class and had lunch at an agriturismo run by a couple that were so gracious. Went truffle hunting with a truffle hunter and his dog in the forest. All of these adventures were so much fun. Our last night together was spent in Torino. Our local guide took us on a walking tour through the historical city center and we ended the tour with another wonderful meal. Our group of 12 (maximum number for these tours) was perfect. Our tour director, Marco, was fun, organized, knowledgeable and felt like he was part of our little family. I highly recommend this tour and Nada's Italy. They delivered exactly what they promised. read more

"Tours for people who don't go on tours" could not be a truer statement. Our group of 12 friends are a family. With the Sole Terra Tour we chose through Nada's, we enjoyed the most fabulous 'family' vacation. Our guide, Cristina, as well as our drivers, became members of our family! Everyday was a new, well planned adventure, that did not feel at all 'over' planned. We wandered through quaint villages, explored cultural and historic locations, dined on some of the best food we have ever had, and tasted many (!!) local wines! We felt so comfortable, so relaxed and totally at home. Cristina was so knowledgeable, patient and helpful, she made our experience better than we even hoped. Since we have been back home, the question we get asked is "What was your favorite part?". All of it! is the only possible answer. Thank you Nada's! My husband I went on the Sole Terra tour in September 2017 to celebrate our 30th anniversary and had a wonderful time! We so much enjoyed the tours of small villages, cooking classes, and wine tasting. The hotels/villas were charming and for the majority of time met our high expectations. Our wonderful guide was Michela and our drivers were two friendly men who provided us with additional information and most importantly a safe drive. Driving in Italy can be a nerve-racking experience but I always felt safe with them. Little things like having water they provided in the vans was so appreciated. The three always had a ready smile and felt authentic. I have so many awesome pictures from our trip that I have had many put on canvas and they now are hanging on our walls as a daily reminder of this splendid trip. Nada's isn't the least expensive but you get what you pay for. Looking back, we felt it was of good value. From the very beginning stages of planning, the office staff were so helpful and returned emails and calls very promptly. Michela, our guide, went out of her way to make sure everyone was happy and listened to any concerns. She definetly is a hard working and diligent guide. When the weather looked bad for the following day, she spent much time flip flopping our plans for another day and it worked out perfectly. We had a great time with the staff and our fellow travelers. You will be kept busy so be prepared with a comfortable pair of shoes! We had an encounter with a large tour group, and one couple expressed their displeasure of how crowded the bus was, numerous cases of sickness and the constant go go. I just returned from my first trip with Nada's Italy and I can say she is worth every penny. I have always made excuses why I couldn't/didn't want to travel abroad (by myself) and Nada's Italy took all my excuses away. Her small groups are perfect, all you have to plan is your flight and what to pack. Nada has already checked out all the locations, found the best restaurants, and the best drivers to get you there. I went on the tour of Tuscany and friends were impressed with all the places I was able to see on my trip. If you're looking for a company to guide you through Italy - yet you're not comfortable with the mass-produced tours offered by many other companies - look no further than Nada's Italy. Their tag line is "Tours for people who don't go on tours", and that's a great description of what Nada's does. We just returned from their "Mediterranean Bliss" tour and could not have been more impressed. Our group was comprised of three couples (Nada's limits the number of people to a maximum of 12), and we received top-notch service and attention. Our guide, Clarissa (a Florence native), was awesome, both in terms of knowledge and in building rapport within our group, given that we had never met the other four folks before. She knew all the ins-and-outs of everywhere we went (Rome, Sorrento, Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast, and later ... by ourselves, Florence) and made sure that she took us to all the places we wanted to see. In addition, the "city guides" who Nada's uses are very knowledgeable and entertaining. In Rome, Barbara was able to get us in front of all the crowds with VIP treatment at the Colosseum and Vatican City. That alone saved us many hours of waiting in line. In Pompeii, Margarite brought us back in time to explain the history of the city. Along the way, Clarissa came up with a number of side stops that she announced as "surprises", each of which enhanced our experience. (We won't spoil the "surprises" by telling you what they were, but they were all fun!) Since this wasn't what most of us consider a "tour", our transportation was a real treat. We usually rode in large Mercedes vans with very comfortable seating, and our drivers (Mauricio in Rome and Gialuca in Sorrento) were great, navigating the roads (many of them very narrow) expertly, and taking short-cuts when needed to avoid traffic. While Mediterranean Bliss is structured (which it needs to be to ensure you see all the sights), Nada's does leave time for you to explore on your own. That includes making your own restaurant choices a few of the nights, a nice departure from most tours that pack you into a different restaurant every night. Those meals that Nada's does plan were awesome! The restaurants were great, as was the food, service and ambience. Clarissa knew many of the restaurant managers, which made us welcomed guests. She also suggested other restaurants and places to see during our free time. As noted in the first paragraph of this review, we highly recommend Nada's Italy. Every contact we had with them - whether it was on the phone, via email, or in-person (we live close to their Florida office) - was very professional and friendly. We loved our tour-the other travelers-the food-our hotels-the food-our driver ( George Clooney-or at least his twin brother ) the Amalfi Coast-the food- Once I drop the "Pasta Pounds" I plan to start planning our next trip with you. You;re a genious-you take out all hassel of traveling and leave in all the fun. The varied tours were perfect-villages to villas-wineries to cheese farms-cooking classes to shopping. All the tours were just the right length and the right varieties to get a true flavor of Italy. I couldn't recommend Nadas Italy enthusiastically. read more

I heard so many good things about this company but the end result was a huge pain in the neck. From the first call, the representative had me on the phone for 20 minutes and I didn't have a chance to squeeze in any questions or to tell him about our trip...it was all about how great Nada's Italy was. The intro call was more about my budget and less about what kind of trip our family was looking to put together, I gave them a range for a budget because I had no idea what this kind of true would cost, he seemed disappointed I didn't guess so well. Follow on to the first conversation, I had to call them no less than 6 times and emailed them 3 times to get a call back. Never happened, no call back. read more

If i could give this business 0 stars, I would. My Fiance has begged me to forget our bad experience and not bother to write a review, but, I want others to be aware of what they could experience. I went in with such high hopes but was extremely let down. It was my Fiances dream to go to France and Italy on our honeymoon, and I was determined to make that happen. She found this business after searching travel agencies online. So we reached out and set up an appointment. We spoke with Simona and her assistant and were promised the most amazing experience in Italy within our budget of $10,000. We told them we had a little wiggle room and could go up to 12,000 (flights not included as they will be a wedding gift to us from a relative). We even brought in our own research which we had been working on for quite a while. They talked to us for a little under an hour and charged us the $250 fee which was non refundable, so that they could create a customized itinerary for us. This $250 is put towards the cost of your trip as long as you book with them.. How convenient. After the meeting Simona promised us that we will have our itinerary at the end of the next week, it never came. We called in following week and they promised it at the end of that week. Again, we did not get it... it happened once more and we finally got the "itinerary" 2 weeks after that. We open the itinerary and it was the most basic and cookie cutter trip I have ever seen... I had compiled a better itinerary before I went in there, I thought I was dealing with experts.. Guess not. Furthermore, I also saw that Simona had doubled the budget! ($19,000+ to be exact). Woah, how generous of her!! When we spoke to her about this issue, she recommended I stay in cheaper hotels and not stay as long... really?! I asked her for a break down of how the trip got so expensive and she said she could NOT give any itemized costs.. basically she was pumping up the price and not showing me where and how my money was being spent. So I was forced to seek out a new agent to help us with our plans. My Fiance was so crushed at the idea of our dream honeymoon not happening, she was too embarrassed to even continue speaking with Nada's because she realized we made a mistake in going there. I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE NOR WILL LET ANY FRIENDS OR FAMILY GO THERE. Since this incident I went to another travel agent, who has been amazing. I have planned a phenomenal honeymoon for 16 nights, staying in Paris, Nice, Florence & Rome. We have tons of day trips and tours planned and will even be staying at the Saint James in Paris. I wish someone had written a review like this so I didn't waste my money. $250 might not sound like a lot to some people, but for a 25 year old getting married in 8 months and paying students loans off, its a big deal. read more
