This place is spectacular! We came in on the RV portion of the park and discovered a gem. This park is very well maintained and from what it seems it's pretty full here. There is a playground for children and picnic tables on the premises for eating. I wish I would have been able to bring a pole to fish. They currently have an alge warning so... stocked with bass, crappie, catfish and a variety of sunfish. A State fishing license is necessary except on July 4th. Apply for 2024 permit beginning March 2024. There are many amenities available here. read more

Amenities are nice except everything else is pointless like the fact admission (for cars) is $4 per vehicle and the beach is $2 per person and if you leave late you have to pay $40. I also don't like the fact you can't bring floaties to the "beach" and the restroom closes same time as the "beach" which is 30 minutes before park closes. The whole park is just a money grab. I would recommend going to Cheraw State Park which has less amenities and is free (1hr 15min) read more

Cane Creek is an expansive public park which is divided into three distinct areas. There is public access for a small fee which includes picnic areas, waterfront activities, trails, and several parking areas. The other areas are accessed by a separate road about a mile away on the other side of the lake and they are for registered camping; Groups and Overnight camping. We've camped at Cane Creek on several occasions. It is a typical State-type campground with lots of trees, level spots, lake views and access (no boat rentals--that's found at the public side), and several bath houses. They have a nice camp store which is well stocked, too. Reservations are done at the SC State Park website Reservations | South Carolina State Parks (southcarolinaparks.com). Easy. Reasonable. Camping on the weekend during season is nightmarish, in our opinion. All the kids show up with parents who are looking to blow off steam. It gets noisy and often well beyond quiet time. The regulars know that the park attendants head home at 10 p.m. signaling it's OK to let loose. It's not. So, we adjust to arrive on Sunday and leave on Friday. Problem solved. It's quiet, clean, and friendly. Since it's only a 45-minute drive with camper in tow from our home, it has become our go-to spot for a quick getaway. Of course, during season one must book well in advance which is true for all camping reservations these days. Looking to spend time with Mother Nature? I say "Give 'em a whirl" and breath it in. We came here to camp for the weekend with others that had a camper. We were hammock camping which wasn't really ideal in the RV area, but we made it work. The area was way to crowded to me. Everyone was on top of each other. The campground area itself was awesome. There are bathrooms close by. There is free mini golf. There is a little store with some camping essentials. There are hiking trails near by. We went to the other side of the creek and rented kayaks. It was only $4 per hour. I would recommend getting there earlier in the day because we got there in the afternoon and there were only two kayaks left and they were both 3 person kayaks. If I came back again, I would camp in the primitive camping area. read more

This park is beautiful and has many areas of recreational activities like fishing, a beach, boat ramp, plenty of picnic areas with grills and there's a covered area for med sized events with plenty of power outlets. Park seems well maintained and has a large lake. I race my r/c boat here while watching the real boats cruise in and out of ramp. There's certain days I believe for the beach access in the summer. I see plenty of action in the water. Fishing looks nice here. Parking is ok and there is a small entrance fee. read more

Very excited to have discovered this park thanks to my wonderful neighbor. The day after Thanksgiving my inlaws and family in town all wanted something to do and my niece stated that she wanted to go for a hike so we went to Yelp looking places up and found a place in which we ended up not going as I texted my outdoorsy neighbor to inquire and she suggested we try Can Creek Park, what a great suggestion. We drove over and was in aww at the large grounds and upon parking we entered the park where there were many families enjoying the wonderful fall day taking family photos, walking the trails, standing on the river front, etc.. We decided to hit the track all the way around as far as possible to look back and only see the starting point as small as a raisin. The trail was pretty messy with leaves but it added to the nature walk Fall feel. We hiked up a good sweat and enjoyed a lot of the scenery near the water and deep in the woods. The various marked trails were very helpful even though you couldn't see the trails really just the elevated signage for the route which is helpful as well. Overall this park is great but since I haven't seen many in NC I have more ground to cover before saying this is good as it gets but I will say that I will be back and take my family back as well as there was a paddle boat dock (closed on my visit) and a mini golf section (closed) as well as other activities which is exciting. read more

Nice park, clean, people friendly. There is a cost to get in,.They have quite a few amenities swimming, fishing, rental boats, they also have bait for sale. Seem to be well-maintained park. I gone there for bank fishing. One of the things that bothers me is when the boats are going a high speeds they disturbing the water while I'm bank fishing. read more

We came on a Saturday morning and get the day passes. We were the first ones on the beach and found a great little shady spot and set up for the day. Life guards were visible and paying attention. Sand and water were clean. I walked back out to take notes of the rules and found that smoking was not prohibited. That was kind of sucky, I prefer not to have people sitting so close to my kids smoking away. It's fine if you smoke but maybe make an area for that? If anyone's going to screw up my kids it should me and my husband :) lol We decided to paddle boat while we were there, it was ok. It's no great shakes but it gave the kids a break from the water. Snake bar was pretty basic and the bathrooms were clean but smelled funny. We will absolutely be back there was nice areas to picnic and it wasn't super crowded. I would say we had a nice day! The park is lovely. That being said, they did something really bad. We reserved a particular site (63) which we had stayed before, the day we were able to reserve it for the next season. Then, a lady from the park called us in January prior to our reservation in April. She pleaded with me to give up our site and be relocated to a different site (51). I agreed, provided the new site would adequately fit our rig and also be as good as our current site. She assured me 51 was a beautiful lake-front site and even said it was better than 63. We drove out there to take a look at it before our stay, and it was quite a shock. Our travel trailer wouldnt even fit in 51, and there was a steep drop off in the front with a large shrub that wouldn't allow us to extend our awning or even use the area in front of our site. Clearly, we were done wrong by Cane Creek Park. We finally were able to secure a site at Carowinds (almost $400 more) and we didn't receive so much as an apology. Actually, they seemed to suspect we had done something wrong to cause it. It was just astounding. Needless to say, we have soured on the park and will not return. read more

So I had the pleasure of camping at the Cane Creek campgrounds over the weekend and I really enjoyed myself!!! This was my first time camping and my first time going to the campgrounds side of Cane Creek. The grounds were clean, the views were amazing and the atmosphere was calm and relaxed. I will say, WATCH OUT FOR SPIDERS! Spiders are quite prevalent there. Don't let this deter you from visiting but I was playing UNO with my niece and 5 minutes later I ended up with a nice sized spider on my shoulder!!! AHHHHHH!!!!! Thankfully I have been delivered from Arachnaphobia!!! Anywho, I love that they are handicap accessible which includes restrooms, showers, and parking spaces. They have a shelter to bbq and eat at that house's a lot of people. They also have trails, a lake, and a cabin. The indoor restrooms have showers and an outlet to charge your phone, downside, it's right by the trash... and there are 2 grills in the middle of the tent area, very accommodating!!! Loved it!!! Not impressed at all. The day park area was a joke! the pedal boats was like a mini fish pond in size. The swim area... HA what the heck do they need a lifegaurd for, the water is less than 5 feet and if you are shorter than that you shouldnt be alone! There are no inflatable floats allowed. The snack bar which was supposed to be open WAS NOT and it appears they only have things like chips and soda etc. you have to pay to get in the park (per vehicle) pay per person for swim area, pay for pedal boats/canoes. PAY for everything separately! AND if you want to have a pontoon boat ride you must make a reservation and it is "group" only!. This was a complete waste of my day at the water! read more

Stayed in a cabin at the campground area. Family had a blast! Comfortable and clean cabins. Clean bath house nearby.

I was not sure how to get there, and even when I was, I was not sure. (WE CAME OUT OF NORMAL SEASON). The park was great for what we needed. We wanted to get away, take a few family pictures and walk along a few trails. Everything was great for what we wanted and the kids had a great time. What a nice campground we stayed in a travel trailer at a full hookup site. Road is large and easy to navigate camper in and out. Lots of play grounds for kids. Actually had good fishing and a nice lake. Also on the camping side had it's on beach area to swim only down side only opened in Saturday's and Sunday's. You will have to drive to other side to day use park to swim Wednesday thru Friday. Would recommend this campground to anyone, and it's a short drive from charlotte. read more

This is a hidden gem. Nothing fancy, but clean and lots to do. It was $4 per car and $2 per person to swim. The beach is clean and wasn't too crowded. You can do putt putt or rent paddle boats. It is kind of out there In Waxhaw but I liked it!! Quiet, clean and relaxing! read more

The paddle boats and beach are closed but there are some pretty fishing spots. They really should have an ice cream machine or real ice cream compared to the frozen bars in the freezer. read more

Wonderful place, great campground for children. Beautiful scenic view, large lake, beach area, several playgrounds and bathhouses. Lots are spacious, children could ride their bikes and we could walk on the hiking paths with no issues. Plan to return soon. read more

This was our first time visiting the location. We decided to go with the $5 pass for each of us(5) and the parking was $29 total. The pass included parking, water access, mini golf, and paddle boats. We were the first on the sand and setup in the largest shaded area. We got to enjoy the sand, water and paddle boats. The sanded area by the water is very nice and everyone enjoyed the water play. It wasn't too over crowded and there weren't any lines while we were there for the paddle boats(about 10 of them available). People were also renting kayaks and bringing their own. We didn't get a chance to do the put-put, but maybe next time. We were there from 1030-2pm. There were also camp grounds, playgrounds and a snack bar if you didn't bring your own food or snacks. It didn't start to get too crowded until a few hours later, around 1 or so, but there was still plenty of sand and water space available. We didn't care for the couple smoking by our area, but I suppose there's no law against it. Another couple did also decide to setup there own chairs awfully close to ours as if they were part of our group. I guess that's what happens when you get their early and pick the best spot!! Other than that our experience was overall a plus. It is a little bit of a drive into Waxhaw, but not terrible. We will definitely be returning here. read more

This place is awesome for walking your dog! Warning- it costs $5 for your car to park. But there are lots of great places to walk through the woods. The water is really pretty and my dog loved swimming in it. They also have a swim area for humans! The park is clean and quiet. read more
