At the time, this was review 2105 of 2024 and number 23124 overall.] When it's done, Ezell Park will be a 91 acre park at the corner of Matthews-Mint Hill Road and Mintwood Drive in Mint Hill. The intention is to include basketball, pickleball, a splash pad, restroom facility, open play field, nature themed playground, community garden improvements, trails, parking, and public art. Located in the middle of a residential neighborhood, you would never expect moderate dense forrest that feels so far removed from civilzation. Yet here it is. The only real hint of a city is the hum of car tires on 485 which the preserve backs up to. But you can easily get lost (figuratively) in the rustling of the leaves and forget all about the freeway. Park on the side of the street and hike in. You'll soon walk across a a little foot bridge. Then on to the parks namesake, some big rocks. There is one interpretive sign which tells a bit about the area. Continue on past that and the big rocks down the hill and to the swampy creek. As the lady we passed on the trail described it. There is a narrow portion of trail next to a small cliff following the stream. Then turn and head back up the hill and out. Congratulations, you have completed a walk of about half a mile. It isn't much. And not especially strenuous. My grandparents who are in their 80s were about to do it. This is just a good place to get into nature, get in your steps, and not have to go too far to do it.

We both looked at each other thinking the same thing, this is not going to be what we thought. The real attraction here is the rock. It's massive and appears to have been there for many years. It appears that it was been work overtime by water flow as it has unique indentations that are what you see in rocks by fast flowing rapids. We went in early March and it was nice and cool and the leaves were not out so you can get a clear view of the forest. You can hike this thing in maybe 20 minutes and not get you heart rate up.

I've been to this park many times over the recent years but this evening was special because my Grand was performing in the town Christmas show Choir after the Tree Lighting. The Town did such a great job adding the 2,400 square foot Amphitheater, it's a great design and a needed addition to the growing Town of Fort Mill. It's a town tradition along with the parade. They close down main street making it walkable for all the local business'. We're living in the 'post-COVID' world and it feels so good to see all the residents and hundreds of families out celebrating the season and just being together. There was so much laughter, so many smiles and it was clear to me we as a community, a town and a nation are feeling happier and more optimistic.

I lucked up on a parking space right off the green but this place definitely needs more dedicated parking. The amphitheater is nicely located at one end of the green and away from the playground. This allowed ppl to setup their chairs and tents by the stage and families to be closer to the park area so their kids could play. The addition of bathrooms is super nice and the accommodations are great. This event included food trucks and a beer tent. You had to purchase tickets to buy beer but the ticket tent was right next to the beer tent. Can't wait for the next concert and to hopefully entice the family to come out too.
