Because of that, I had to change my service last minute to a European facial. While I understand that equipment issues happen, I would've appreciated being told beforehand or at least offered a partial discount or upgrade option since the original service couldn't be performed. The spa is clean and the front desk staff was friendly. The esthetician was okay, and my skin did feel soft afterward, but overall I left feeling a little underwhelmed. It would help if guests were informed ahead of time when machines are down, especially for services that depend on them. This place has potential, but clearer communication and more thoughtful customer care would go a long way.

Living up to their namesake, that's exactly what your nether region will feel like after a wax at Smooth as Silk. Groupon brought me here. I've had the opportunity to try many waxing places because of it. Most estheticians I've gone to are usually independent and rent a space inside a salon building, but Smooth as Silk is actually a standalone waxing studio. And a beautifully decorated one at that -- reclaimed wood paneling and decor that made for a warm welcome. They even offer bottled water while waiting. A cleansing wipe is provided beforehand and a sheet drape for modesty after undressing. Tori did my wax. She was casual and friendly and turns out she's also the owner. So it goes without saying that I experienced a thorough wax. I'm bad at maintaining my brazilian schedule so it was as if it was my first time waxing, but it wasn't as painful as I anticipated. Thanks! I have a few favorite waxing places in town and this will definitely be added to the list. Their regular price for brazilian wax is $50 which is usually the average to comparable studios.

During my visit, Bertha told me the bumps and acne were actually being caused by waxing/shaving my face at home. This was causing ingrown hairs to form on my face, hence the bumps that would not go away no matter the products I used. She educated me thoroughly about my skin, which I appreciated so much. With just one visit, I understood the cause of my breakouts and what I could do to prevent them. Other estheticians I've went to recommended I come back every 2-3 weeks. But Bertha did such an amazing job with the extractions the first visit, she recommended I wait and see how my skin heals before scheduling again. This made me feel she really cared about my skin and was not just trying to keep me coming back. It was the most thorough extraction process I've had, as she went through each pore. After my visit, my skin was visibly smoother and supple. Today, my skin feels 100x less congested. I will definitely continue to visit Bertha. She is very sweet, knowledgeable and thorough. The spa room is very cozy and easy to relax in. The booking process was very seamless, I just sent the business a text and she got back to me within the hour to schedule for the following day. My issue with this location is that they're always behind. Expect to go in 30 minutes after your appointment that will only take 5 minutes. The front desk staff are friendly and always very smiley but don't always know what they're doing. I got in for my 3:15 appt at 3:10, a guy came in for his 3:45 appt. At 3:30 he was roomed. I asked the front desk and she said I had to do an intake form. Alyssa, the other front desk staff who had just sat down, is shaking her head while looking at the other front desk lady's screen. This was not my first or second time here. So she takes me into a room and tells me to be on my phone so I can answer their call to do the intake. 10 minutes later, no call. Front desk staff comes in again and ASKS FOR MY NAME. Then she said oh it's because your appt is at 3:30. No, it was 3:15. Then she brings me to another room and says to wait for the nurse.... No intake done. I didn't complain in the past because I understand them running behind. But this time, it seemed like the nurses were actually on schedule seeing as how they roomed the 3:45 patient at 3:30.
