The decor is cute the staff is super friendly. The reason I'm giving 3 stars is because unfortunately I went in for a Brazilian and some parts of the wax were too hot and I have some burn marks also because I had a allergic reaction from the wax which has never happened to me before. Such a bummer cuz the staff was GREAT. But due to the reaction which may have been caused by the double dipping into the wax (its legal in cali but no in other states) I wont be going back. read more

This was my first Brazilian wax and Danielle made me feel so at ease! She kept the conversation going so I was distracted from the pain, and was very gentle. She didn't mind that I had a jungle growing down there! There was pain in some parts, but not anything too bad! I used to get my upper lip wax and I thought that hurt so much more. First of all, this review is not for the service. These folks are very friendly and a Brazilian and underarm wax should take a lot more than ten minutes and it didn't! So the staff is great. There were two things which will unfortunately prevent me from going back. One - the wax. My skin felt sticky and rubbery for a good while following the appointment. That shouldn't happen. And the other thing were the walls. They don't go to the ceiling. Just a preference of mine. I want privacy, especially when getting something like a Brazilian done. If I have questions about my bits or just have a moment where I say something personal, I'm not too keen on having the whole place privy to it. Again, very nice staff that are good at what they do. I recently moved to the area and was looking for a new spot for waxing. I decided to try this spot. They have a cute set up, the rooms are small for them to be waxing. I had a Brazilian and underarms done. It took a little over an hour for both. The girl who did my waxing I felt was new, the wax at some points was extremely hot when applied, when she pulled some of the wax stayed on me. She had to apply a strip and pull again. It was frustrating on how long it took for the two. She doing my underarms she had to reach over me because of how small the room was and how everything was positioned. I have never had ingrown hairs, I do exfoliate daily and had several of them. I put 3 stars, the staff is friendly, place is cute and prices are reasonable, but I will not be going back. read more

This place is amazing and was my first waxing salon. I say salon hesitantly because this place is way cooler than that. I walk in nervous and unsure. It's located up a narrow staircase but once there you are greeted warmly by the front desk. Jenn gives me a form to fill out, with pertinent information and warnings. Oh no, I think, a disclaimer? That can't be good. I sign it with as much willingness as I would a death sentence. Jenn then informs me that I will be waxed by Lizzy, who is new. OH NO once again crosses my mind. I try to warn them about my jungle downstairs. It's been a long winter. Practically a Westeros winter. Jenn and Lizzy smile and assure me, that's okay. That's actually better than being too short. I am ushered into a small room, cute and clean. Then I am told to cheerfully disrobe from the waist down and to use the paper sheet if I'd like. Here it is. Time for shame and pain. They both come in; with Lizzy being new, she is still being trained. So Jenn will oversee, but Lizzy is still going to wax me. OH NO. What if I traumatized her? What if she fell in a dead swoon, right into my sadly neglected lady garden? None of that happened. Instead, she talked to me as she got started, calmly explaining every step she would take and why. Hygiene and cleanliness was paramount in that explanation. She showed where she was using new wax and they never reused it. She spread the wax, warm but not terribly hot and went to town. I watched strip by strip as my jungle was tamed. Soon, I was smooth and bare. The Long Winter was over. They even talked to me after about exfoliating and what to do to avoid ingrowns. There was no pressure to make a new appointment. It was nice and there was no pressure. So I suggest you take your business to Wax Candy! You won't regret it. read more

I'm a regular now at Wax Candy, and its about time I write a review. I've had good luck finding great, local independent businesses to get waxed at in the various cities i've lived in, and now Pasadena is no exception thanks to Wax Candy. What I like most about their business is the ease of getting an appointment, sometimes with little notice. All I have to do is shoot a text or phone call inquiring about possible times I could come in, and I am always accommodated within hours or at most a day. They even let me know if they have a cancellation that would let me come in earlier. All of the estheticians I have seen here have been very skilled, professional, and kind. They are able to see pretty instantly what needs to be done, but still take the time and consideration to ask what I might want in addition to a routine clean-up, or make notes about shaping or re-growth if things don't look quite right. I appreciate that expertise and attention to detail I would never consider or know how to address. The studio is very clean, modern, and comfortable. The entrance is slightly hidden, but the entrance door is between the dry cleaners and mediterranean grill. You just climb straight up the stairs and you are right there. The studio also lives up to its name, and you'll find jars of various candy at the door and in the waiting area. There are also fun and entertaining books and magazines to peruse if you have are waiting. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a wax here. You'll find yourself coming back. read more

Having been nomadic for a long time and then the pandemic shut down, I hadn't had a home based wax place in a long time. My sister recommended me this place, the Pasadena location. I called to set up an appointment, receptionist was super kind/helpful and I set one up for Saturday morning. I'm not sure if you do have to pay for parking after 90 min but my session didn't take long. Michelle was my esthetician. I was nervous about my eyebrows getting waxed but Michelle did great. She made me feel calm , the wax didn't hurt. She couldn't talk much bc then I would talk and my eyebrows were getting done but I could definitely see how she could make you feel at ease if you get other body parts waxed. Best wax experience ever!! I've only been waxed twice before going to Wax Candy, and had horrible experiences. Wax Candy had changed my view of soft wax and waxing with strips (much better than hard wax). I got a Bikini + Tushy wax but it was so great I'll probably get a full Brazilian next time. My very first time trying a new wax place, I had been seen by Jen she is extremely sweet and very caring and attentive to how you feel while waxing she did small areas at a time which really helped ease the pain for me . I got a Brazilian wax . The place was well cleaned, but as far as the lighting in each room on the dim side is not the best lighting . As I finished my Brazilian wax I did double check and there was a good amount of a patch left over with some stragglers, felt Jen was hesitant on really really getting in their the whole point for a Brazilian is to remove every hair in every area . The great thing is that I actually spoke up and asked her if she can remove the rest , she was very apologetic and removed it . I did still have to go home and remove stragglers per me not wanting to speak up again after the second attempt . I will be going back to my original waxer read more

I was really nervous walking into get my first ever brazilian wax. They sent reminder texts which is a plus! Location was really easy to find and i felt very welcomed when i walked in. Danielle was the one who took care of me and made me feel very relaxed. Great prices and great estheticians! I love the Wax Candy location downtown, and I am so glad their Pasadena location is just as nice. They text you the day before your appointment with important details on parking, location, etc., and they are also very responsive to texts. They were really cool about me bringing my baby in after my sitter didn't show up, and the esthetician made my waxing services as quick as possible so I wouldn't have to suffer for too long. I had a great experience here. Absolutely awesome service. This place is a little hard to find because there's no signage outside the building. Little tip: When you reach the address, park in the back parking lot. You will find a building that has an upstairs level. (That's the one wax candy is located in) Once you walk inside the building, you will see the wax candy sign. I knocked on the door, and was greeted right away. Filled out an easy form and let the waxing begin! Let me tell you, the nice lady who waxed me was a pro! I was in and out of there in less than 10 mins and that's including all the paper signing and the fact that I had to go to the restroom before I left. It was so painless and most of all CLEAN! She got every bit of hair! the tweezing at the end is usually what I freak out about.. but she made it feel like nothing. I will definitely be coming back! I always went to the one in downtown LA since it was on the way from my work. There were few times I was late to my appointment because I couldn't find a parking... But when I found out that they opened one in Pasadena, WHATTT!! 15 minutes from my house! Another plus is the parking!! I don't have to go around the whole DTLA to find a parking spot. Their customer service is on point~ so attentive. Also, you can text them to make an appointment! Lastly, Brazilian waxes are only $43!! I was in town for vacation and was in need of a leg wax before hitting the beach. This place is totally lovely, clean, and friendly! Elianna did my wax and she was excellent! She was totally friendly and personable. The wax was the right temperature and Elianna did the waxing with the right mix of speed and thoroughness. I'm pretty prone to red bumps and irritation during waxes, but for some reason (maybe the type of wax) this experience was better than it is when I get waxed at my usual place! Elianna also put some calming aloe on my skin for the irritation and gave me some tips for dealing with the irritation at home. When I'm back in town and in need of waxing, I'll definitely be back. read more

I had been going to the DTLA location for a couple of years. And I'm thrilled they opened this location which is much closer to my home. Unlike the DTLA location, parking is much easier (plus free for the first 90 minutes!) it's generally not a hassle to get there. There was always something going on in DT with street closures which made it tough to get to that location. The service is always excellent. I've been several times already and have seen 2 different waxers who have always been great at what they do and super friendly to boot. I can't imagine going anywhere else. read more

Cute wax place with cute waxes to match! I just started getting Brazilian waxes in May of this year. I started off with hard sugar wax which is allegedly less painful, in my opinion the special soft wax at Wax Candy is less painful (not by a drastic difference, but still less painful)! Danielle made me comfortable and did breathing techniques that helped with the harder areas (the idea hurts more than the actual wax, so don't think about it too much). After she was done she asked me to look and see if she missed anything which I really liked because I feel awk. telling a technician they missed a spot on my own. I had a wonderful experience and I think I'm now a fan of soft wax instead of hard sugar wax! Oh, the prices were also amazing! read more
