Ann is a very experienced barber and takes special care with the back and neck areas! Definitely above average and reasonably priced!

Ann has been doing hair for decades, and was able to give me exactly the cut I was looking for based off an old photo.

Visiting in Vancouver and hopped in this barber shop for a quick haircut. The barber, Ann is immensely friendly and loves to socialize with you. After 30 years of cutting hair, Ann is experienced for trimming, fades, and short hair. She gets customers from around the world! Overall, nice haircut and really nice barber! read more

Ive been going here since the last couple of months. Ms Ann does a really good job and fairly quickly. I've been trying to find an affordable regular barber to maintain my fade, Ann does it really well for a right price in the heart of downtown Vancouver. Recommended. read more

Waverly Barber Shop - Ms Ann and me. - Barbers Near Me - Vancouver, British Columbia

I dropped in today to have my beard trimmed. I explained that I wanted it tidied up and not shortened. The woman who was there took a pair of clippers to my beard and before I could object she had made a mess of months of growth. And when I decided to get up and leave before she could make more damage, she had the gall to charge me $10! Stay away from this place. It is a just a big fraud! read more

I was a customer of Anne's for about a year. The only reason to go to Waverly Barbershop is if your main driver is a cheap haircut, and quality is of no concern. I'm highly skeptical of Anne's haircutting ability. Her technique is very ad-hoc, inconsistent, and can be extremely rushed if there is a queue of customers waiting. Due to the language barrier, you have to communicate very clearly and slowly, and occasionally check-in to ensure that she understands your request. I stopped going to Anne after a string of inconsistent, and poor haircuts. It simply wasn't worth saving a few bucks to get a poor haircut. When it comes to barbering, you truly get what you pay for. read more

6 clippers to get a fade going. I asked for a 0. This was a total fail and I ended up with a tapered look where the hair looks like a step ladder fade. The lady literally started getting defensive, wouldn't let me fit a word in, aggressively started handling my head, and claimed my hair is not easy to deal with. Insisted she gave me a natural fade and hid the mirror. This was a horrible experience and a complete rip off at $20. read more

For me this is Vancouvers best barber shop. Great service. Very skilled barber in Anne. The price is right. I am sure you can go elsewhere, pay $40 and get a beer while you wait an hour for a cut, but that's not for me. Short lines, open at good times for after work etc. great hair cut (does what you ask, rather than what the barber thinks!), reasonable price. Barbers. Bingo Bango read more

I feel very fortunate to have found this salon/barber shop/hair study in Vancouver. Honestly it was the best haircut I ever had. It was also my first time getting my hair cut in another country. I only said a bit to Ann, that I wanted to cut my hair a bit shorter about an inch or so off and number four on the sides. She started working her magic and showed her experience and talent in a way that was truly impressive. I will never forget this haircut and am most grateful I was able to find this salon and Ann. I will definitely come back as soon as I can. Thanks again guys. I wish you continued success in years ahead. I really don't remember a time my hair looked better then it does now. read more

Just back from my second haircut and beard trim at this place. It's not a salon-style cut (clippers will be used...extensively) and I appreciate what others have said about communication difficulties with the very friendly owner/barber. However, I think the quality of her work is pretty good, especially considering the price. I'll go back here for sure. read more

This place is cheap, but I must say I wasn't impressed with the result. The Asian lady is very friendly, but communication can be a bit difficult at times. She has some unorthodox methods while cutting your hair, which gave me some doubts during the procedure. I found another barber nearby that I have been going since, but I wouldn't completely disencourage trying this one out. The price is such a steal! read more

More of an old fashioned barber shop than the trendy salons you see around Vancouver, however it is not run by an old Italian guy as you might expect but by a Korean lady with blonde hair. Anne is a trip, always in a good mood and happy to see you. She has a loyal following of regulars. Her English is good, but her accent is heavy so you need to focus on what she is saying. She does like to chit chat too. If you want some fancy designer cut this is not the place, but if you know what kind of cut you want Anne is more than capable. read more

Not satisfied with this place. It's cheap, and quick, but the cut was bad. She forgot to cut some hair behind one of my hear, and the cut didn't look clean. After the cut, she grabbed a trimmer and asked me if I wanted to get my beard trimmed as she started doing it! She didn't trim much luckily... She's a nice lady, but I don't want my hairdresser to be nice: I want my hairdresser to be good and precise. I'm not going back there. read more

This lady is completely retarded! Please do not go there! I would not go there again even if you pay me. I went there obviously allured by the $17 price. I walked in and saw that she was a very very old, kind of eccentric, and with poor english. I was like "O god, better just try to keep this VERY simple, and give very SIMPLE easy instructions". Lo and behold, it was my turn to get the haircut, I asked for a simple 1 on the side (my usual), and then God forbid (this is where I went wrong), I then asked her to simply blend the sides with the top for a smooth transition. OMG, you would not believe what happened next. This korean geriatric lady started cackling like a witch, and started wildly waving her scissors around, and completely started doing a butcher job on my hair. Swinging wildly and cutting my hair in a carefree manner (like some sick hairstylist fantasy) and I ACTUALLY had to stop her right there, she had cut off way too much length, and was so careless, that I physically had to STOP her and be like, ok Thank you, I will fix the OTHER side by myself. Literally, the side where she cut my hair was complete wreck of a transition, and I had to try and cut the other side in a similar manner to achieve some semblance of symmetry. Essentially, I had to go the next month having to be self conscious about the glaring asymmetry, and had to check in on my hair regularly to adjust it so that it APPEARS somewhat symmetrical, and presentable. Moral of the story: This lady needs to retire. Only go there if you want like a straight buzzcut, anything beyond that is above her head. She will NOT listen to you. She will just frantically and carelessly start to butcher your hair infront of you, and at the end of the day, due to her poor english and decling cognition, she wont even be able process that your upset and dissatisfied with her service. read more

I'll start by saying the owner is nice, but she doesn't listen or doesn't understand requests, and her technique seems random. I told her to leave the front as-is, but she trimmed the front anyways?? All the time she repeated, "I give you best haircut". No, it was not even close. When it came time to pay, she told me I owed $25 even though the pricing list said $20. I told her that $25 says "with shampoo" on her list, and she didn't shampoo my hair. She said something I couldn't understand in response, and again said "I give best haircut". I was too frustrated to argue so just paid and left. She said she's been cutting hair downtown for a long time, but I won't be going back :( read more

I was in need of a quick trim but did not want to spend $50 on a haircut so I checked this place out. I'll admit it has quite a homely basement feel but for the price ($17) and the older Korean lady with purple hair's friendliness brings out the charm in the salon. I'll definitely come back when I need a quick clean up. read more

Good value and a great trim. Alice was friendly and professional and did a great job. I'll definitely be back.

Do not go here. Weirdest experience I've had getting my hair cut and the woman seemed like she had no idea what she was doing even though she kept saying she's cut 1,000,000 people's hair. Not worth it... read more

My boyfriend went in for a quick "walk in" haircut because Waverly is a block from our apartment (excellent haircut, btw!) and he came home positively raving about how great Ann was! He knew I'd been looking for a new hairstylist to perm my hair (which is long, straight and fine), and he insisted that I go in for a consultation with Ann. I was skeptical at first because, after all, the sign on the door says "Barber Shop!" which makes me think of just haircuts... But five minutes into my meeting with Ann, I was convinced. She had me at "I did 12 perms a day in Korea!" :) Seriously! I had researched a few salons before, and some of them don't do curly or spiral perms at all--and if they do, they insist on calling them something else. But thank goodness we were running late the day my boyfriend went in for a last-minute cut, because we've both been loyal customers for five years now. Ann's got skills! I'm so happy with my long curly hair and I feel like we've made a friend for life. :) read more

She's great. Friendly. Took her time and made you feel valued. After she finished, I went down the street to another barber shop and asked them to fix my hair. read more

It's hard to find a great, reliable, consistent barbershop, but Anne at The Waverly is the one for me. Great service, great haircuts, great price. Highly recommended. read more

Great place to get a cut on the cheap. I'm not sure why guys pay $40-60 for a haircut when you can pop into Waverly and look equally fresh for $17. Super nice lady who owns the place and you are always welcome there! No frills, just haircuts. read more

It was not Anne who cut my hair. It was a younger female with a English accent. I had booked thinking Anne was going to cut my hair but was called over to the English woman instead. I figured I'd give her a chance since I've only been there once. I asked for a very basic haircut that no one's ever butchered. She seemed very tentative and unsure. When she started cutting my hair I could tell right away she was very inexperienced. ...I hope she was just inexperienced, otherwise she shouldn't last too long. She kept making mistakes and by the end of it, she had managed to shave an uneven bowl onto my head. It looked horrendous and I even contemplated just shaving my head. She didn't do anything that I asked for. It was bar none the WORST haircut I've ever had in my life. I could do a better job cutting my own hair in the dark armed with only scissors and bravery. I was offered a free fix next time. I wouldn't think twice about letting her touch my hair again. I will never go back there. read more
