This place was recommended to me by a friend, I was looking for a place to take my elderly father to get his haircut. The gentleman here were kind and efficient. They were engaging and pleasant with my father. My father was pleased with a senior discount. The room itself is simple, well lit and clean. Parking is an issue. I dropped him off curbside and then parked a few blocks away. It's my dad's new go-to spot, we'll be back! read more

The Barber Shop - Services - Barbers Near Me - Vancouver, British Columbia

Great place they shave your neck perfectly too I have been going here for about 15 years. Professional barbers. There are lots of other places with the min wage 2 weeks experience barbers. These guys and girls are self employed so they do a great job. read more

After 2 years in the downtown I've finally found a good barber. I've been getting compliments all week. I didn't catch the gentleman's name but I will next time. Maybe I won't wait a year before my next cut lol. read more

Worst experience I've ever had (and this is the first time I go as far as leaving a negative review in my life) !!! I came in to have a beard shave and clean the back of neck. Anita was friendly but worked in a hurry even though the shop was completely empty apart from me. Anyway, after I left the shop I passed my hand through my hair and a hugely scary amount of hair locks fell into my hand. I was shocked. I realized that probably while Anita was shaving me on the sides or behind the neck, my hair (I have long hair) was all over the place so she might have accidentally buzzed it. I returned to the shop very politely to ask her about it and to see if we could look together at the mirror and check. The way I was treated was nasty - I had never experience such level of rudeness. She cut me off and said she had nothing to do with it. I said "but I just left your shop, how could have this happened" and she said "well it was not me!" In the meantime, a man was in the shop sitting on the sofa - not sure if the shop owner or her husband - and he aggressively started confronting me saying stuff like "maybe you're going bald, don't come here and say she cut your hair!". I kindly replied I have a head full of hair and tried to explain what might have happened, saying I had not come back to fight; nevertheless he treated me like shit raising his voice like an insane person telling me I was being rude showing up with accusations and essentially kicked me out of the place. I am quite shocked as I would have never imagined such level of nastiness. I am a very polite, kind and friendly person. It made my day really shitty and I would never recommend this place. I ended up there because I was walking past. Also, the place is not clean. Worst experience possible. read more

This will be my go-to haircut place in Downtown Vancouver from now onwards. Being new to the city, I was scared to try a new barber, but this place turned out to be amazing. Reasonable price. I paid $18 + tip for the haircut. Few mins of waiting and they've got you. Karima did my hair cut today, and she was amazing. I told her how I wanted my hair to look like and she did exactly like that. Very friendly and skilled staff. Quick tip: Remember to carry cash. They have an ATM inside the shop if you forget it though. read more

Went here recently for a trim due to my preferred barbershop being closed. This is an old skool "fast-food" style barbershop, with a couple old barbers and younger ones. They all wear blue smocks. It's no frills, assembly-line style, quick in-out cuts, and not the cleanest facilities either... but it's $18 so you get what you pay for. I should've known better. Told the guy what I wanted, he says "yup I got it". Told him no lines/fades and consistent shaver # applied to sides (didn't want any scalp showing)... despite telling them exactly what I wanted, instead ended up with what looks like a Forrest Gump haircut where it goes from #1 and then abrupt line to #2 or #3 midway on the side of head. Not even a consistent transition, just a line from light to dark... look like a total dork now. Despite me telling him what I wanted, he ignored it and did things his way. TOTAL FAIL. They also use a very loud and uncomfortable vacuum hose to clean hairs off your face/neck etc... not only is the vacuum loud and feels physically unpleasant, the hose bristles have probably been used on 100s of customers before you (how often do you sanitize vacuum bristles??)... so GROSS and totally unhygienic!! To top it off, they don't trim your eyebrows or ear hair either. AND on top of that, they only take cash (hmmm, sketchy) so if you only have a debit/credit card and no cash on hand, your SOL. Learnt my lesson... the cheap price should've been a warning and will never return here. IMO the barbers are set in their ways and no matter what you tell them, they will just do their standard haircut they give to everyone. It is a quick assembly-line style barbershop, after all. That said -- if you have a desire to look like Forrest Gump, this could be the shop for you! read more

Great team of guys and very reasonably priced. I have been going here for years and all the barbers are friendly and talented.

No appointment required and I rarely wait more than 10 min. I've always had an excellent cut. The staff are very friendly and one can't beat the price . I've been going for over a decade read more

Top-notch. Pros. They were open on a Sunday morning, to boot. FYI, it was $18, so that photo of the sign is outdated. But still a great deal. My wife loved the haircut...she said it looked "European". Now I'm hosed. What am I going to do? Fly 3,000 miles to Vancouver every time I want to get laid? read more

I have been to The Barber Shop 3 times now, its cheap and cheerful, but clearly cheap for a reason. The first haircut I got was from a guy called Nick, he did a decent job so I came back. I got a blonde girl the second time, she did a very mediocre cut, she completely forgot to cut my fringe and I had to ask her at the end to finish the cut... My most recent haircut is one of the worst I have ever got, the barber was friendly but I felt like it was his first time ever cutting someones hair, it was like he'd wandered in off the street and just picked up a pair of scissors!! I always ask for the same thing, pretty simple, blade 3 back & sides and a trim on top, not rocket science.. George (I think his name was) just shaved and cut random hairs off my head, no rhyme or reason, 1 side of my head was blade 2 or 3, the other was probably a blade 5, random lengths all over my head and he even started shaving the top of my head when I asked him not to! I had to tell him to stop cutting my hair because I was so annoyed, I went home and finished the job myself and did a better job... I honestly think Ray Charles would have done a better job, I will be finding a new barbers after today! read more

I asked for thinning on the top, parting the hair and number twos on the side. Instead, I ended up getting my scalp cut up by the clippers. The guy (James) said it is just a little pain and it will be okay. However, the next morning when I woke up to look at my hair in the mirror, there was a clear cut on my head where the hair is supposed to be parted. Don't go here if you want something more complex than a normal shave. read more

Old fashioned, professional, and quick! Stopped in one morning for a haircut and enjoyed every second of the experience. This is what you want when you get to certain age: a barber shop. And here it is *the* barber shop. Enjoy! read more

How can you go wrong with a traditional barber shop? I love this place and think it is the best $16 therapy. I always give them a $20 and walk away happy. Check it out you will always get great service and a fantastic haircut. If you have a choice of barbers ask for Maria. I think she only works during the week and is the only female. She will take care of you! read more

Have been going there for over two years .. so has my partner for a number more. Sam gave me the best cuts and great guy - went in earlier this year and he was not be seen! It's currently $18 (cash only) for a haircut. I think there's a place in Chinatown that's cheaper. There are many places more expensive, including some with great reviews, but I'd feel bad paying more for what is essentially a crew cut. I usually go to George or Richard. Both are pros. The main guys are here Monday through Saturday. They are also open on Sunday with a couple barbers that only work that day. Note they generally close early on Sunday- like 5pm. read more

Do not go here for a shave! I guess I've been a bit spoiled because my first straight-blade shave was at Farzad's. I've been going every other week for a year now. I never get cut, the shave is always close. They also use high quality products and towels. So Farzad being on vacation this week I tried The Barber Shop on Burrard. I have multiple bleeders - one under my nose that won't stop, and patches of hair all over. Do they not sharpen their blades? Unbelievable - I've been blotting blood off my face for 30 minutes, and need to go buy a bic to clean up this patchy mess Bill left me with. Never again... read more

If you need a quick cheap haircut this place always does me right. I've gotten a different barber each time I've walked in, but I've never had a problem other than of the type you might expect from a place this inexpensive, e.g., I might trim the front a little more when I get home or shorten my sideburns a little more. It's also nice because I've never had to wait on a walk in, although I mostly go during the week during lunch. read more

Great place. No unnecessary small talk, no unnecessary costs. Just professional haircutting without wasting time. They are well equipped and very friendly. I very much recommend this place! read more

Got a haircut at The Barber Shop and loved it. These guys are all professionals and know what they do.

Old school barbershop. Quick, quality cuts for as cheap as they get. Walk-ins usually fit right in. Nick was man.

They don't take appointments and take cash only. Got to sit in a vintage barber chair, which is a great conversational ice breaker. A guy by the name of Corey cut my hair -- did a fine job; my confusion as to which clipper comb number I should go for was sorted out before any cutting commensed. Crisis averted, and I learned a thing or two. They only drawback is the cash only thing, as I never carry cash. read more

Great place for a quick simple haircut. This place is like the haircut factory - always packed with guys. Must be a good sign... but then again it's probably the price. At $16 per haircut, it's the lowest I've seen in the area. You do get what you pay for. I've been here probably 2 or 3 times and I can't say that I was always satisfied. Really depends on what you are looking for. I've since moved on. read more

Chose this place for location price and reviews here from Yelpers. Guys haircut can't usually go wrong. I brought several pictures of what I wanted from different angles. He (Bill) said yup yup got it. I said I want it just like this. Yup got it. Welllllll my haircut was SHORT WAY shorter than the pics. Reinforces you get what you pay for. Pluses: fast convenient cheap good service. A true barbershop. They take the time to straight razor your back of neck etc. minuses: it's a true barbershop. You get one hair cut... That's it. Take it or leave it. Summary: if you like I nice tight quick haircut BOOM this is your place. Price is up to $18 so STILL one of the cheapest places. Will I go back? If I'm desperate for a cut. read more

DO NOT GET YOUR HAIR DONE HERE ESPECIALLY BY BILL. I went to get my hair cut by Bill, after checking it in the washroom i noticed that it was uneven. Went back to get him to cut the one side shorter and started chopping off all my hair, i got a little frustrated and ask him what he was doing and he then PUNCHED ME in the side of the head. It was more of a jab but was with a closed fist and said listen here!! This is completely unacceptable and this guy should be FIRED! I have also filed a police report! read more

Firstly, the electric razor that was used was so dull that it was extremely painful and pulled out my hair. I didn't say anything because I figured it wasn't a big deal, but as the barber moved on to the cut I noticed it was a bit long on the sides. I kindly asked for him to cut it a little bit shorter and he gave a big sigh and started shaving off all my hair on the sides right to my scalp. When I saw this and questioned him why he was shaving so much off, he didn't even care. He smiled and said, "I can go even shorter if you want?" I couldn't believe the lack of respect he had for me. He shrugged me off without apologizing and told me "In two weeks it will be fine." No. This is not okay. He does not care about his clients and frankly seemed happy that I was upset. I will never be returning to this barber shop and hope that this barber knows that he will continue to lose clients if he treats them this way. I called afterwards to double check the name of the barber and he told me Bob. I will follow up to make sure I have not been lied to. read more

Do not EVER go to this business unless you want to leave with major razor burn, cuts, chunks of hair that have been missed and a very sour taste in your mouth. Besides being completely incompetent the staff and owner are beyond rude. They rush you through as though they were working an assembly line and don't even ask what you would like to have done before proceeding to buzz off your beard (that you did want to keep). Then when confronted on their mistakes they "do not have time to deal with it" and leave you feeling as though you were just taken for a major ride. Please think twice before entering this establishment as I would not want anyone to get ripped off and treated the way that I did today. read more

Have had my hair cut here many times and usually leave satisfied. It's a twenty buck cut so I'm not expecting too much. Went there this weekend and had the second guy from the window, Nicko, cut my hair, older guy, might be part owner. Literally the worst haircut of my life, and I've cut my own hair before. The 3 star rating is because there are some decent barbers in there, but warning, do not let that second guy come close to your hair. I went in to get it redone the next day and ended up paying for a new cut, would of been nice if the other barber offered to give me a free chop. Was happy to pay him though because he fixed the mess the last guy did. read more
